- The father of a 15-year-old girl whose missing persons case made national headlines has been arrested and faces possible charges for child abduction, conspiracy and falsifying a police report.
On Friday, the Monterey Park Police Department announced that Jeffery Chao was arrested following an “extensive investigation.

I ran away because I was being abused at home, and the only thing that kept my dad from being arrested was the fact that I told the sheriff that I would kill myself if I had to go back to my mother's house.
We don't know the whole story. we don't know the definition of "abuse" in this case because that's only what the girl said. Her mother may have just been overly strict but that isn't abusive.

When parental alienation is alleged by a doctor they don't just say oh okay cool just stay with the parent that I as a doctor am saying this could be what's going on here, as they explained in the court documents that parental alienation is considered to be abuse.

The mother Annie chao , was arrested April 2023, she posted a $100k bond , on that same day her father submitted paperwork for a EPO against the mother , and in that paperwork it states Annie sexually assaulted Alison
So what Alison saying is true , the father is literally helping her through the legal system
But her mother is twisting it by saying the father is manipulating Alison , Alison is a very smart girl and the father is doing everything he can to keep her .
Put yourself jn his shoes ? Would would you do if you had the option with sending her with her abusive mother , or sending her out to the street ? The only reason he’s being charged is because Alison was at his house and she didn’t leave , she wasn’t being held against her will

Many Family Judges award custody to the Mother based on outdated and sexist family role views. Instead of basing their decision on facts and giving the father a fair chanche to have custody over his own child.
If my child was being abused by the other parent, and the courts were not helping then I am sure I would take some type of action to protect my child's physical and mental state.

This is messy and def needs to be investigated. But, teens do often lie and try to manipulate situations. She could be upset with her mom, or under punishment/grounded and lied to get away from her. It is common for teens with divorced parents to do that. It needs to be investigated, but not just taken as fact. If it were true, she could have went directly to the police instead, which puts it more in question.

Police were driving around in uniform and unmarked cars throwing slushy drinks on people for 2 years, and recording themselves doing it/sending those videos in group chats to every other officer in the department. This is what the court system does ALL THE TIME. If you think this is awful, you should look up the case of Margaret Rose Lanam v. The Sovereign Natchez Nation. Margaret Rose Lanam is an RN in Los Angeles, who adopted two Native American children, forced them to live in a nursing home, and allowed ALL of her nursing home staff to regularly physically, emotionally, and mentally abuse the children. The minors were forced to sleep in beds with the nursing home clientele and were urinated on. The minors told DCFS about how she regularly beats them with iPads, belts, brushes, hangers, rulers, and combs, medicated them, threw them into walls, forced them to take cold showers (at midnight to "calm them down"), stabbed them with pencils and so much more. Has justice been served? Absolutely not! The courts even received video evidence of the abuse where one of the nurses was recorded saying she'd watched Ms. Lanam beat the minors for nearly an hour. Can you imagine watching someone beat a child for an hour?!!!! I feel for that child, and I pray she doesn't suffer the same fate, or something much worse. If the court system is corrupt, then who will protect the children?

the court examines what is in alison's best interests. if the father tells lies about the mother in order to have her for himself, this jeopardizes a healthy mother-daughter relationship. However, this is important for development. So it's not as easy as you might think.

The judge granted custody to the mother and the daughter was at the father's house and he didn't assist the police in returning the daughter. This is complicated. Obviously I don't know who is right (although the daughter wanting to stay with dad is a strong argument parental alienation does still exist and she's a minor so she could have been manipulated). But if the court decides mom gets custody and dad refused to open the door when police came with a court order to pick the kid up, then dad is going to have almost zero legal case going forward. He's already defied the courts and they don't look favorably on that.
If the kid is right and genuinely wants to be for dad I feel for her. But I wish she had tried filing for emancipation first or something.
In that video, Alison sounded so scared to go to her mom and the police didn't blink when she mentioned she was being abused by her mom. Disgusting. As a child of divorce, I was always told that the child's opinion of which parent the child wishes to primarily live with. What ever happened to the child's say in this? The child has every right to be heard!!!
My mother wanted to pay the absolute minimum for custody, my father still agreed. The courts even thought that was unacceptable and my father didn't want the courts to drag out. He accepted whatever my mom wanted to pay. The courts accepted my father's acceptance and then said my mom had to pay everything else like insurance, vacations, etc. My mom still didn't do that and my father was nice enough to accept that without taking it to court. He could have and still didn't! So much my mom has done was the absolute bare minimum and now, as an adult, I'll probably have a meal with my mom maybe once or twice a year. She's still my mom, she wasn't abusive or nothing so I do the bare minimum for her. But if the courts had ordered me to stay with my mom, I would have been pissed.

Clearly this little 15 yr. old took off to hide out at a friends place for the week and both parents didnt know where she was..so to me that is missing..Also this little girl is not mental the mom is and she needs to be evaluated..If the LA childrens courts place her back with her mom I can see all hell breaking lose with that judge- seems like she was doing quit well at her dads..its not his fault shes a kid and ran away to a friends cause of her crazy mom wanted her to go into a mental hospital- The mom is clearly getting back at her ex and using Alison in the process..If a kid breaks down and tells her doctors she was being abused at her moms/grand parents you need to listen to the kid and her cries for help😢 not trying to place her in foster care and put this girl through all that when she can stay with her Aunt or Dad..Alison was riding her bike alone she was on a mission to go hide away no need to punish her dad with all them charges they made up to make her dad look worse showing up to her court hearing from jail or not at all..guess that was the courts plans to make sure the father cant get her back with them charges and keep this girl in the system..The courts and the Judge will be watched closely on this case..Everyone wants the best for for Alison❤❤❤

They didn't specify if she was hiding at a friend's house. But I think we assume that she got some assistance along the way. A week is a long time to go without shelter/food/drinks unless she camped out on the streets.
It may be clear to you, but it seems clear to me from the reporting on this turn of events that the police have some evidence that made them believe he was involved with her disappearance. Unless you are claiming they arrested him with no evidence and just want to hold him until Monday’s court appearance, only to have him released for lack of evidence to even bring any charges. I doubt they’d bother with all that extra work for no reason.
Why the father didn’t tell the authorities instead of doing what a teenager tell him to do. He’s so incredibly stupid.

Ppl saying that mom and moms family sexually abused Allison for years. I have no idea where this info came from. Are there any evidence or ppl just spread the gossip. And if this is a true and it was happening for years than why father didn’t do anything. Anyway I don’t believe anyone in this family.

Someone hid the girl and that someone had search parties looking for the girl along with alot of police searching. Someone is in trouble and has to pay the price for the wasted time.
Alyson is 15 not 5. Ask her who she wants to be with and let her decide . Every time a 15 year old commits a crime everyone says “charge her as adult , she knew what she’s doing! “ so why not think of her as an adult now as well and ask her which parent she wants to be with. Clearly her mother is abusive if she’s trying to get a straight A student committed to a mental hospital to be medicated with harmful drugs against her will. Reminds me of what Britney Spears father did to Britney . Unfortunately, thr American court system always assumes parents are good and child is bad . Until it’s too late
