- While The JGOFAB production team would have loved to have blown the budget with a Michael Palin style jaunt to our dear neighbour across the English Channel, its a bit of creative necessity that we can explore some Gallic military surplus kit in the delights of the Cotswolds instead. Under the gaze of The Dark Tower.
The tent F-2 is a nice setup. a great atmosphere and area you chose to spend the night in. The army unit i was in didn't get tents in until after 2008. I would have surely bought this to use in the field , we didn't have the net in the early 80s - 90s. So i went with a wendel A Frame 20 bucks at that time. The weather off the Great Lakes is static, so i put that up under a grommet tarp for a few weeks to live in. I may just pick one up. Safe travels, happy trails.
In my day we were also each issued with a baguette per day….. It is LAW in France that the people must have access to fresh bead daily - even in Sundays. I do have to say though, being in the field with the blokes all having a loaf sticking out of their sac a dos was odd to say the least. As for the tent… in early the 80’s in training we were issued a tent half so each pair of bînomes could make a tent. In my unit however, we were issued individual hooped bivvies- we did however have to make a sleeve for them out of a tent half so they still had the traditional look to them when attached to the pack.
Hi from South Africa.Really enjoy your videos.I have the French bottle and mug.Would like to get the tent
Greetings to SA; the tent is a good investment, and at only a KG and relativly cheap its something that will last..cheers
Nice Video.👍LG aus Germany
Christine, vielen Dank für Ihre Unterstützung
Thanks for saying what the tower is. I am sure I was not the only one wondering would you mention it.
I really like my F2 tent, such a simple but great design. Would love one of the tent companies to start making them with modern materials, I think it would be a real winner.
I also like the f2 I like the space and simple set up just wish it was double skinned and a better hh rating 5000 hh would be nice like my Oex bobcat 👍
@@deehenery4313 Like JB said a new pair of hands, with a bit of modern materials and double skinned to keep the Moisture to a minimum would be nice to see.
@@justgoingout6824 Just adding a lightweight tarp as a flysheet would do the trick and with a couple of pads of closed-cell foam to space the fly off the top of the tent there would be no need to lug around two more poles. A pity the flysheets from the old F1 tents are so thin on the ground.
La coccinelle I believe 🐞🐞
Top marks for your French Nige
Love it don’t you!
Luke its in the blood. Try it and feel it.
Nice overnight camp, pity it was a bit moist when you got up. Very interesting those air vents because it had me stumped as to what it was, anyway thanks for sharing.
Cheers from Australia
