    Roy Burns sold me on giving them a try back in the early 90's. I've been using them ever since. Quality control is the best I've seen.

    Hey Tim, Good Morning! I've been using Aquarian for several years, and I've tried several different heads. My personal favorite is the Modern Vintage Medium on my snares and toms and I've always liked the Super Kicks on bass drums. To me, Aquarian is well made high quality drum heads. Thanks and Blessings Tim!

      Thank you! I totally agree. I used to use the modem vintage heads, but have switched to the texture coated. I felt the modern vintage were too dark for me. Still great heads of course and as you know, it’s all just a matter of opinion and taste.

    I was an Evans guy a few years ago but one time I bought a brand new head where the coating already melted! It was not a problem at first for me but I noticed when I go around the kit, it feels weird because the coating somehow sticks to the tip of my drumsticks. I've read and seen of course bad batches of Remos that have the same coat chipping issue that's why I went with all Aquarian heads on my kit.

    Where are Aquarian drum heads made, it seems to be a big secret. I like the texture coated as well. You don’t see any video tours of the factory. Thanks!

    I have Aquarian Modern Vintage on a couple of snares and it also has a surface that seems to never wear. Brushes are almost too loud on it, even after years. Craziest thing. What is that bass drum pedal? Is it a 9000? I’m interested in trying a strap drive pedal. Love your videos BTW!

    • @TimMetz
      @TimMetz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much! Yes it is a 9000. I've tried others, but keep coming back to the 9000. They do come with a strap... Thanks so much!

    I love the sound however the coating is way too harsh for brush work when brand new. You can always do the good ol' scotch brite treatment on it, but I think I'd rather go with a Remo ambassador Classic on the snare instead.

    Hi I got a question what cymbals do u use ? I've seen sabian logo but what type?

  • @krusher74
    @krusher74 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I like aquarian, but they can be hard to find in europe, and as a company they are terrible at replying to emails,facebook, instagram they just dont reply to anything. The white part on my studio x's also come off on my sticks and gets on my cymbals.

    i've tried Aquarian heads (coated, and black coated - jack dejohnette) 3 or 4 times over the past decade, and personally I find they have a harsh, plasticky tone - quite distinct from Remo and Evans, but not desirable to my ears. Maybe OK for loud/processed styles. The coating durability is very good though...

    • @johnkroner4248
      @johnkroner4248 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I use Aquarian classic clear single ply on my tom resos and classic textured on the batters and they sing. No weird or plasticky sounds from my kits. I use the exclusively on my birch, maple, oak, and ash kits. In my opinion, they are more consistent in sound and quality than the competitors. My sound techs love the sound and dial me in very quickly.

  • @TheQuestion31

    I like the Texture Coated but they don't fit on my vintage Ludwig kit. It's a shame they make the fit so tight and don't make a production version with a looser fit for vintage drums. For me using Remos is simply less of a headache.

    • @graytss
      @graytss ปีที่แล้ว

      they do actually! it’s called the ‘American Vintage’ line, hope this helps

      @TheQuestion31 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@graytss No, the American Vintage line is coated in a way to simulate calf heads. I'm looking for one with the standard texture coated coating
