A beautiful setting in Glencoe. I believe the house has been bought. There is debate going on whether or not it should be demolished and another house built on the same site. There’s or much left it now, it’s been well trashed. I’m surprised no one has set it on fire before now, as former owner Jimmy Savile was an evil man. At the same time, I hope that it has a future. The house is not to blame for once being owned by Savile. A great explore, worth it for the scenery alone.
Were any crimes commited in the house? It's a shame to see such a lovely old cottage being destroyed this way. I imagine during its history, it's seen many owners and many different lives. It's a pity today's society can only focus on one. I doubt Jimmy Saville spent much time, if any, in the cottage. There are many houses where terrible things have happened, yet they still stand. It would have been a better option to raise money from its sale and donate the proceeds to a meaningful charity.
I live in that area and have driven past many times. No crimes (that were admitted) were committed in that house (although apparently victims were taken there). He also lived in that cottage until he died. Locals will not go near it and any thought of restoring would leave a bad taste in the community. Tearing it down and building something new is what everyone wants. They even asked the publics opinion on demolishing it and it had full support. You are right, there are absolutely places with awful history that still stand. But the house of a ‘pedophile who was friends with the royal family’ is not something we want to keep just because it “looks nice”. There are plenty of cottages around - further down that road is an arguably a way more beautiful one that wasn’t owned by a pedo.
Karena here is the situation: remote location no one can hear screaming close to the lake plenty of mountains and opportunities to bury. no peaking nosy neighbours a paedophile and necrophile who has raped over 500 people could be the tip of the iceberg considering he was knee-deep in a european child trafficing ring and him being a procurer of child sex slaves. Considering savils nature and his non stop appetite for kids and corpses. It would be extremely naive to think that no crimes have been committed in this house.
The house isn’t abandoned, it’s owner is in a battle with the planning authority They want to demolish it and build a new house. But Mountaineering Scotland, which has more than 15,000 members, has objected to the proposal before Highland Council. It sold for £212k
I wish people would stop calling it Savile's house. It was formerly lived in and owned by world renowned mountaineer Hamish MacInnes, a man responsible for saving many lives in the Scottish mountains. It should be cherished.
