Brother printers are like Honda vehicles. These two printers are likely printing very similarly so if u can get a deal on either one of these, go for it. Duplex and single envelops prints, as well some wireless/BT differences. DPI diff are hardly noticeable while printing anything other than pictures. Speed to me doesn't matter. Just great printers all around. Good review sir.
If you buy the older model (second hand), you might have to replace the drum. That's quite expensive! Replacement is needed at approximately 12000 (single) printed pages.
I think it's not that uncommon to print graphics/pictures on a low-budget monochrome printer. Sure, a high-end color printer will give you much prettier pictures, but at a much higher initial and per-page cost. If you're on a tight budget, I'd rather have cheap grayscale pictures, vs having none at all, or having to pay much more for a color one. Especially in cases where monochrome is 'good enough', like graphing data or printing maps for personal use. For a family photo, you can pay extra and have it printed for you by a professional service. Makes more sense than buying an expensive color printer just because you need high quality color prints once a year. So, it definitely makes sense to look at graphics/picture quality even when comparing low-budget monochrome printers.
Im not even sure the toner is a big issue. My old brother laser printer was printing about 10-20 pages a week and the toner lasted about 8 years before I needed to replace it.
The problem I'm facing with my 3-year-old Brother HL-L2370DW is it needs a new drum. The cost of the drum is $60 less than what I paid for the printer.
I buy from Amazon and get a drum and 2 or 3 toner cartridges for about $45-50. Been using the Hl-2360 model printer for over 8 years. Now I just bought the Hl-2460 and expect the same results except the toner is just a little bit more expensive.
Brother printers seem incredible, old yellow laser printer at work still going strong. Thinking of getting the HL-L2460DW for my home.
Old ones, sure! New ones? Not so much. Lots of people are buying new ones on the basis of a reputation that's now completely out of date.
@@Kleinzeit1 What makes you say that? Are there a lot of failures even though the new printer is less than a year old?

Good review!
Nicely done. Thanx
Do these work with AirPrint? Got spoiled on my old HP by not having to install drivers and bloatware. Not going back.
uninstall and reinstall if your old Brother printer isn't responding to drum reset etc.
