It just uses the same mechanics as games like Donkey Kong (the original arcade one) and Mario Bros, with simple but somehow chalanging mechanics where you beat a level get some points depending of how good you played and do everything again on level 2, that is the same as level 1, but with a increased difficulty and, sometimes, newer manaces to disrupt you, and so on until you got without coins.
I'd say this was more entertaining than "Elevator Action" which was a quite dry arcade game that actually did exist, with a "work your way up the building" premise. Some cute music and animations go a long way to make a repetitive game engaging.
A critique I have with this rom is how long the cutscenes are in this, it plays at a snail pace speed. And the fact they play the cutscenes over again everytime you beat the stage is just annoying.
