    Thank you Sofia! I absolutely love your reviews. I love the fact that you can love a brand, in this case Chanel, and still report the truth about the products! With so many new eyeshadow releases it would be awesome to see your ranking video of all the new eyeshadow 😉 I’m torn between Prada, YSL, and Cle de Peau.

    I still think long -time Chanel lovers will love and appreciate these palettes and I think the quality is 10/10 for Chanel type of shadows. I’m in love with them, with how elegant and sophisticated they look. I might be not a fan of gold packaging and I love sleek black look more, but I understand the theme here. Overall, beautiful Chanel collection, “cleaner” formula too. Thank you for your review, Sofia

    I was deciding between one of these Chanel Quads and the Guerlain Wild Nudes quads. Really happy I want with Guerlain.. the formula is just something special. I realized I wanted the Chanel for the packaging. I’m glad they are trying something new but wish it was executed a bit better

    I swatched these in store, they were nice enough but for the price, it's INSANE. I just got a few Natasha Denona mini palettes for about $25 each with a discount and they are versatile, impactful and easy to carry in a purse. I believe in buying pricier things if they are worth it for you and will get a lot of use and give you joy, but this is just insane.

      not agree. Natasha denona eyeshadow formula , especially for the shimmer ones, is really buttery and patchy sometines. It depends what you like.
      And they are not limited edtion most of them. So for chanel as limited collection, maked sense that they are less versatile. in any case cristall and venetienne are quite „one palette and done“

    I was interested in Baroque , just wasn’t absolutely sure about the red but when i layered it with the green i absolutely loved it. I can get a lot of looks from this palette, it has sufficient sparkle and while being colourful it is not over the top. I also ended up getting Venitienne, admit it is on the light side, but the colours are simply gorgeous. The topper shades are transformative and impactful enough on their own too. I must be in the minority but i love the packaging too. Thank you for another wonderful review! ❤😘🇦🇺

    I accidentally dropped the Chanel mirror duo on a grocery concrete floor, no damage at all. And there was a dent on my rouge Dior lip balm case after it dropped from a coffee table to the wooden floor. To me, the Chanel package is far more away from "luxury" but ok practical sense.( I can't stack Byredo palettes in my current storage). Enjoy your contents very much, THANK YOU!

Also, I'm wowed more lately with the packaging and formula/colorways of the new Prada releases. I'm interested in the Chanel powdered eyeshadows in the bottles and the two blushes. I understand :) after testing Venitienne my conclusion is that given the lack of longevity it's just not worth it. I see a lot of reviews going up for these palettes and most of them are the two neutral ones (lol). They are nice for everyday but I want to caution spending the money because it's easy to get caught up in the hype for what is a very simple and dupable palette.

    Sofia, you definitely pulled two stunning looks! 😮❤ I love both! The first with the PARURE VÉNITIENNE palette, I think would be a perfect look for what I’m planning to my son’s wedding in October. I wasn’t planning to pick that one up but now I’ve changed my mind! 😅 The second look is just amazing! I love how the colors blended and it looks so amazing with your eyes! I lean cool and have to be careful with warm looks. I think I might be able to pull that look off since Chanel’s formula is softer. So I’m considering it.. Originally, I liked the packaging, but now I’m over the first look and agree with you it’s ok. But just ok. I was going to get the Cristal one. I’m still considering it. I’m just not sure. I guess I’m glad they haven’t hit the US yet! 😂 ❤❤
    Edited to add: Oh wait, fading… jeez. Maybe not for the wedding then… lol 😂

    I liked both looks you created, but dang the wear time was a fail. I have deep set hooded eyes, so that’s definitely something I have to look out for. I think you helped me decide I’m just going to try 1 quad instead of 2. I think I’m skipping the single loose powder eyeshadows and the lip balms too.
    Overall, I just really enjoy and appreciate the way you describe textures as well as colors. And I love seeing your beautiful brushes in action.

    Hi Sofia,
    You picked the quads with warm tones because that is what you like. I like neutral/cool tones and also I don’t like red on my eyelids. They don’t look bad on you and I like more the look you created with Parure Venitienne.:)
    Even they look similar Parure Venitienne and Parure Cristal are quite different. I tried both in store on my eyelids and Parure Venitienne was a bit washed, made me look pale and didn’t do anything good for my face. I really liked Parure Cristal because is brighter, made my eyes look bigger and nicer and suits my skin tone much better.
    I think the package is cute. Generally speaking if the package is not very ugly or hard to open I don’t care to much about it. XOXO

    To be honest, I don't see these as colour stories that were meant ro be easily wearable. I believe Chanel steadfastly stuck to their theme of the jewel-tones and left it to us to play around and create. How many times do we hear about Chanel being boring or predictable with their shades? They finally do something very different and then get damned for it. They did provide the two Quads - Vénitienne and Cristal to be the softer looking of the palettes, yet they can still look very dramatic. It's how you apply them and in what manner. If you want to wear them into the office, then go for the softer palettes and keep the look more subdued. When talking of Baroque and Impériale, they are meant to be built up and dramatic. I would have loved for you to have built up the plum shade from Impériale and when using the shifty sparkling shades, don't just dab a tad onto the lid, but cover it completely and shine! As I see them, these sparkly shadows weren't meant to add tiny highlights, yet made to shine and sparkle in the sunlight or at night in artificial light. Adding the deep green from Baroque to the upper lid and covering it with the shifty shade from Vénitienne is stunning! Try using the sponges to apply more pigment, as they really can help to do this quite successfully. I would highly suggest a primer first and then a glitter glue, PML IntensifEYES stick etc. be used to prevent any fallout that may occur when building up the amount of the shifty shades. That plum from Impériale was meant to be pigmented alongside the yellow sapphire inspired shade, (not gold). So many wanted Chanel to up their game and they came to the party. It's just that you and your imagination has to work along too. It's easier for me as I'm an artist and understand colour. I also have a nice collection of fine jewellery that is centred on the use of coloured gems. It may have been different if you hadn't chosen two palettes with similar shades of yellows and peach. Both times, you used the deepest shade with a soft fluffy brush and softly applied them, instead of using the pigment that is most definitely there and dramatising the look. I've never said that these Quads were easy to use, except for the two softer ones and have warned many about the other two - especially Baroque. So many take one look at Baroque, think of Christmas and purchase without thinking through how to actually use the shades. That Baroque Quad is simply a stunner! Yet, it will come down to how it's used. Chanel dropped a short video today of a model wearing the very intensified green over the eyes, a little of the gold softly above the edges and lined underneath with the pigmented red which is gently swept up at the outer edge, but never touches the green. So many forget that the red and green can't be worn together or they turn a muddy brown. I haven't had any issues with fading pigment, yet I'm most likely not using the shades like many would, especially having all four Quads which I can mix and match. After swatching some shades just onto my fingertips, I wiped them off onto my eyes instead and it surprised me how much pigment transferred. I had forgotten I still had these on my eyes when I went to bed early due to not feeling well. The shadows on both eyes were still there the next morning.
    My overall thoughts are that I'm quite inspired by these Quads and their packaging. I don't think they look cheap at all and think that the look in the palette is very reminiscent of a hammered metal gold cuff. Not all of the jewellery worn by Madame Chanel was the real thing either, as she did like over-the-top fashion pieces too. Having two softer and two vibrant colour stories were a great idea, along with shades that were buildable. Which then left it to us to determine where our looks ended up. I've yet to see anyone apply a slightly editorial look, yet without fail, blend out the pigment instead of building it up. I don't blame the palettes at all. There are pictures that show a few editorial looks with Baroque and Impériale so far. It's going to be up to the user as to how far they are willing to go and still feel comfortable with the look. I do see this as the most exciting collection of Quads that Chanel has released. It most certainly beats those boring, pricey Tweeds. In my country, the price hasn't risen by much at all and nowhere near to the cost of the Tweeds which I refused to purchase. It's definitely going to be up to the individual as to how far they are willing to go when using these shades and in what setting. As individual Quads, I would recommend Cristal and Vénitienne first, as they are the most wearable. The promotional pictures by Chanel were just terrible and did not in any way show how beautifully these shadows apply. If youre truly game to play around with some colour, I would then onky recommend Baroque and Impériale. Make sure to add an eye base and a glitter glue, or IntensifEYES stick for using the shifty sparkling shades. They will also help build up the pigment of the other shades too, or simpky use some setting spray or dampen the brush. Never be afraid to use the applicators that are included in the palette, as they can surprise you at how well they can work. In my humble opinion, a well thought out and exciting range that covers everyone, yet only if you put in that little extra effort and imagination to make it all work.🇦🇺💖👩🏼‍🎨

      Thanks for sharing your extensive thoughts! I understand your points, you are very entitled to your opinion but we will have to agree to disagree. I don't see many Chanel customers doing editorial looks or any of my subscribers asking for that, which is why I chose to do more wearable tutorials. And there isn't anything particularly different about deepening up the look with a medium toned brown or including a topper shade. My critique is that Chanel released two VERY simple quads (which it seems are the ones that everyone is buying...) that don't really fit the theme IMO and then two that are a bit challenging to work with. I think there is a way to release something "different" that still works for the customer. There are plenty of other brands like Guerlain who are changing it up in a friendly way. I can see Chanel trying a little more this year and I have given them credit for that. However, I wouldn't release a palette that has two unfriendly colors, red and green, to this kind of customer. It's not Natasha Denona. The biggest critique I have is the lack of longevity because for the price I should be getting the best of the best formula wise.

    • @krisushi1
      @krisushi1 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@SofiaSeesBeauty I agree with what you said about Chanel bringing out two softer Quads and then two rather challenging ones. I can still see how all four fit the theme, as I collect coloured gems. Maybe they were just giving those who wanted colour the chance to experience it from their brand. It was a mistake to add the red and green in the one Quad, yet that can be easily worked around. I love all colour and didn't have an issue with the collection. It's just with the more intense palettes, they do need that bit more intensity to make them shine. I've never had any issues with the shades wearing off my lids. Maybe it's my primer that helped. What you need to remember is that those who watch make-up Channels, tend to look for inspiration or easy ways to apply. I don't need that after the time I've been already in the game. There have been some others who have intensified their looks and supplied options for those interested in Baroque and Impériale. It was a shock to see Chanel bringing out colour like this, especially when most are used to them being easy to apply. Personally, I liked the theme and the shades. Each to their own I guess. Hope you have better success with the shadows staying on.💖

    Thank you Sofia for your review. I was eyeing the Parure Venitienne but looking at the wear test. I would rather stick with a hourglass shadow stick than spend money and time on a palette. The rest 3 eyeshadow palettes were a pass for me. The green was a big no as I have the blurry green from past and Parure Imperiale the look you created reminded me of ND sunrise/sunset palettes but like more subdued way. The wear test on these palettes was a big let down for me. What are your thoughts on the Chantacaille wild mustang collection? They seemed more interesting than this Byzance colleciton.

    Hi @Sofia, super review as always and I have some thoughts of course!! I have been a Chanel makeup collector for almost 20 years, but most of my items are from the last 10 years. I’m just really disappointed in a lot of what Chanel has released recently including these Byzance palettes. The looks you created look nice but honestly the imperial red palette is my worst nightmare along with the baroque (green and red 🤮). The cristal palette is the only one I would consider buying but it’s not at all a unique colour story for those of us who have the Chanel Tisse quads, TF nude dip or Dior soft cashmere to name a few. For AUD120 these Byzance quads are really an easy skip. I want to be really wowed (like the Chanel fantaisie blush wow) to pay Chanel’s high prices these days. Btw the Symboles de Chanel highlighters are avail in Aus, they are AUD150 though. I got the precious coral the camellia embossing. It’s GORGEOUS and worth the splurge for sure as I don’t have anything else like it (I do have Reve de camellia as well). When Prada, YSL and Cle de Peau have released great new makeup products recently, Chanel needs to step up because most people can’t/don’t buy everything and right now other brands are higher on my Wishlist than Chanel. Thanks for “taking one for the team” and buying these 2 Byzance quads, you have likely saved a lot of people a lot of money. 😊 KRs Nicole 🇦🇺 🐨

      I loved your comment, Nicole, because you called out your love of the brand but made a lot of excellent points. I think a lot of people feel this way and it's hard for me to try SO MUCH good makeup and still want to rave about these. If you look at them in a vacuum they are nice but most of us are deciding between different items

    • @nicolefretwell6109
      @nicolefretwell6109 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SofiaSeesBeauty I fully agree Sofia - the luxury market is so saturated these days, it does make people choose between many good options. The whole “Limited Edition” strategy still seems to work and items get sold out quickly but eventually this will wear off, especially with the state of the world economy. Not sure about the US but here in Aus there is a real cost of living crunch and Aus is a really expensive place to live as it is…..given my makeup collection is already quite big (and still so much I have never used!!! - I’m sure I’m not alone there) I am really being super mindful of the new items I purchase. Do I really need another Gucci blush for AUD88 or TF quad for AUD156?? Dior quints Chanel quads are AUD120 and lippies are around 66-70 for both brands. We can NEVER get Chanel and Dior on sale here either. I sometimes buy Chanel from Selfridges as it’s a bit cheaper but not everything can ship to Aus.

    I really like the way these looked in the promo photos, but I wasn’t super impressed with the wear time. I think I’ll pass on this collection, but I do like that they put an iridescent green in the one quad and that they did something different with the packaging. While I do think this collection is interesting, it unfortunately did not catch my attention at all. Personally I believe this is a very beautiful palette. May youtubers are not doing it justice. Starting with packaging. The thyme is Byzantine times so of course it is not going to be shiny gold but more of matte hammered gold look which personally I find aesthetically a lot more beautiful and expensive looking that the shiny gold palettes where you see fingerprints all over. Second the palette looks stunning on daylight and unless you are screaming for attention this is Chanel not PMG. The Venetian and Crystal palette reminded me a lot the Bridgerton palettes but done the Chanel way, elegant and understated, not into your face shimmer. I can understand that Chanel is targeting the sophisticated women out there that like this kind of vibe and personally I find it a lot more user friendly into day to day wear than some other brands whose palettes are nice to look at or wear for a special event but not made for daily use.

I better invest in Prada. Its non fallout, creamy, and interesting design, and i saw some reviews that can be worn light pigmented natural / neutral as well. And then i am intrigued by Surratt as well, its new to me brand. So i definitely pass on Chanel quads. Lets hope that they will release something unique for holiday collection. Have a blessed day🙏❤️

    From what you’re saying I think you may have missed the boat by not buying Parure Baroque (338). Nothing wrong with wearing only three shades at a time, meaning the red OR the green plus the other two. I’m happy to see both warm (318) and cool (328) wearable neutral options with a twist for myself. I am not a big fan of the gold packaging either but it won’t be enough to keep me from buying both neutrals.

    I am not a big fan of the colour story in the second palette, since I don't like red eyeshadow much, but I appreciate that it at least stays on. Seeing how the look with the first palette turned out at the end of the day was a bit of a let down. Even though I don't buy Chanel, to me brands like those (Chanel, Dior, Tom Ford, etc.) are about consistency. They all re-release very similar colours over and over and that's ok, because their target is usually a woman who uses those colours.
    However, to me, they have to grant consistent, well-performing shadows. They don't have the PML (old) wow effect, they don't have more unique colours. One buys them, in my opinion, to always look put together, with a sophisticated look. If at the end of the day the shadow isn't there or it's a mess, then the only characteristic they should guarantee (imo, obviously) is gone.
    I think the old packaging looks really cheap, but that is a risk worth taking for the brand, I think.

The deeper shades in these palettes can really only be built up so much, especially parure Venitienne. You can certainly apply the sparkle shades all over the lid but you will get lots of fallout -they are designed to be topper shades.
