Your declaration of love to the British Isles. I’m German and have moved to the UK 20 years ago. As vegetarian, dog-owner (sadly not at the moment) and long-distance hiker, I very much agree with what you said about the UK. Hiking her is just great. - I was recently in a B&B that was like a castle on the inside. I had hiked for two days in the rain and mud, you know how I looked like. I was embarrassed to step into this castle. The landlady could not have been more friendly and was totally unphased by my dirty shoes and everything. She made me feel at home. That’s British.
Dear Elli! Thank you from the bottom of my heart answering my question how to feel safe as a female solo traveler! This really means a lot to me as I'm planning to hike the WHW next year and my fears are holding me back to book this flights and just go for it. It really helps me to see all the goods things and how many times nothing happens - media is just focused on the bad things. That's true! It really has been a little fan girl moment for me to see my post in your video. I soak in all of your videos and just love you! Such an inspiration, a sunshine and if I ever met you in the outdoor world - please let me give you the biggest hug! ❤
Hi Elli and Otto, I hope you and your family had a lovely Christmas, thank you for your wonderful videos.....I had family come to stay for Xmas and we watched your C2C series and they are all hooked on your channel too now 🙂 (your videos are so much more enthralling than anything british tv has to offer). Best wishes for 2025 and take care
I hope you come to the US to hike, specifically the Western US. AS a hiker from the UK remarked half way through the Pacific Crest Trail "it's quite a big country, this".
Being asked if you get bored must be the bane of backpackers lives 😉 People needy people just can't comprehend independent people. I hope that you all have a pleasant Christmas and thank you so much for sharing your wonderful walks 🎄🎁🎅
I love fast-packing and trail-running because I enjoy genuine and wholesome things. Your channel, presentation and filming style perfectly captures this genuine and wholesome vibe. Thank you :)
Elli and Otto. What a tonic you are. I thoroughly enjoy your long trecks, and these ad hoc talks are always interesting and informative. Thanks for sharing them. Wishing you a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year - when I look forward to seeing you and Otto tackle some new trails. Cheers ! Sheffield South Yorkshire.
Hi Elli, hope you had a nice Christmas. Interesting walks from an interesting lady, I've followed you on most of your walks and find them very informative and entertaining. Hoping to meet you and Otto in Portpatrick next year when you start the SUW until then stay fit & healthy and keep hiking.
Hi Elli and Otto... Thank you so much for answering my question on how you got into hiking... We have things in common that our parents encouraged our love of hiking 👌. It's been lovely listening to your answers and getting to know you more 🙏. Merry Christmas to you, Otto and your family and hope you've had a fabulous time so far 🎄. Happy hiking too 😁🥰💖😘
Merry Christmas mate, really enjoyed discovering your channel this year. It seems like you’ve gained a few thousand subscribers in the short time I’ve been watching which is great! I am considering attempting a LEJOG next year using the End2End trail, in part because of watching your awesome JOGLE series. I hope the planned trip for Wales is the Cambrian Way or Coast Path, these would be a great adventure 🤞🏻. Some people say the Cambrian Way is the UK’s hardest single trail! Thanks for the all the amazing videos, I’m sure you can continue to grow the channel in 2025 👍🏻.
Just discovered your videos Elli - I used to work in St Bees so the c2c caught my eye - and now I have seen several more! I like the presentation very much and having walked the fells and hills of Great Britain for many years (since 1962!) - I feel affinity with you and Otto - I have always had my dogs with me too. I wish you very well, a happy Christmas time, and look forward to your Welsh walking with or without the rain - I am partly Welsh so rather like rain!... Thanks so much, keep safe and healthy.
It makes a lot of sense to do the videos in English, but maybe one or two in German would be cool and interesting. I'm a native English speaker from the UK but I would love it. Maybe it's because language is a big part of a person so it's like getting to know you in a different way. Also I just find German to be an interesting language, so it's a double whammy for me. Hope you had a good Christmas btw 🎄
I wish you a Happy Christmas Elli and Otto and offer best wishes and enjoyable hiking for the year ahead. I'm always interested in hearing about your hikes, especiallly if they are in my native Scotland! For myself, my tent is away for the Winter, to be dusted-off in late March or early April again, for more walks, who knows where!! Happy walking. :-)
They’ve made a movie of the South West Coast Path with Gillian Anderson and Jason Issacs which is coming out next March. So the coast path is likely to get busier after that. One day I will walk the whole path, living in the South West I’ve walked many sections but never more than a day at a time
Merry Christmas Elli and Otto. Your video is so informative. Thank you for, sharing all your adventures. Hiking is so good for,the soul and mind. Looking forward to,your videos in 2025.
Danke Elli.
That was a great insight and very informative I really enjoyed it, you have a great outlook on life which I can easily relate too. Merry Christmas to you and Otto looking forward to more videos in the New Year 😊
Love your videos Elli and well done. Keep them coming. I would like to try wild camping again (once only lol) and take on board your advice about doing it a few times to get used to it. I prefer the camping grounds for safety in numbers and meeting great people like yourself and Otto. :). Coming from an English background, I find England very expensive compared to Europe. I love your expression that “the sun will shine”. Hiking/cycling on one’s own is meditative and well worth getting used to. All the best and happy New Year. x
Hey Elli, you mentioned having trouble with your new wireless mic. Are you using a de-esser in post processing to reduce the sibilant 's' sounds? Or a narrow EQ cut at about 7-8kHz might help too (be gentle!). Or if it's an inexpensive mic and doing a lot of fiddling to adjust gain levels and make it sound right, you might be better off replacing it with a nice one by Rode, AKG, Shure, Sony that will 'just work' and save you loads of time. Wired ones much cheaper obv. (I recently found your videos and love what you're doing - you've inspired me to get hiking myself)
I only discovered your videos a few days ago as I was researching Durston tents and your video popped up via the algorithm. I have walked a few of the trails you have done but am particularly interested in the Scottish borders after watching your JOGLE videos. I am planning on walking the Northumberland coastal path in the summer (I am a teacher so get time off) and was then planning to go up to Edinburgh, as that is where my family live. Unfortunately, I live in London these days due to partner's job but wish I still lived in Edinburgh!! I thought I might get the bus from Berwick to Melrose and walk up to Edinburgh along the route you did. So, my question is did you follow the Scottish National trail all the way from Edinburgh to Melrose. I am looking it up just now so wanted to make sure that is the route you did. Many thanks, Sarah
Martina

I've only met the most kind, helpful and friendly people on the trail in the US. I have a lot of good stories... 😊

Merry Christmas and a lot of nice tours in the new year 🥾
You're never lonely with a dog and Otto looks like he's intelligent so good company! He's very independent too by the looks of it.
Merry Christmas to you both..

Thanks Eli, that literally answered half the questions I have.
But I am interested in what walking trousers you are using.
Thanks Sioux & Zeb.
🌲🐕👍👍
Bin gespannt, wie es 2025 weitergeht
Alles Gute und viele weitere Follower🥰

Hi Elli,
Can I ask you what drone you use?
Many thanks if you can help.
Have you made any of your own clothes or kit, Ellie? Or modified anything?
Wouldn't a bit of German improve your traction with the TH-cam algorithms? Even if it's only the title & description?
