Also there are lots of leaves on the base of my kalanchoe plants which makes it impossible to work on the soil. Should l prune those leaves to get an access to the soil surface?

Cinnamone powder wnt be that effective, better you go for turmeric paste, you van definately Prune Some leaves but do not prune harder... just make sure to mulch with compost

First, Protect your plant from heavy rain... second things which you must follow is mulchong with compost in the start of summer than do not add any fertiliser till october, third in rainy days try to spray fungicide once in 20 days
