    Looks great. I think you might want to add spikes onto each of the candle holders in order to stab the candles onto. This is how i see most candle holders designed and i think it might help to make your candles more secure.

    Perfect timing! I just finished catching up on your older videos on Sunday. 2 days later you post this.
    Really nice project and a great result. Your sister will be blessed with a lasting memory of what will surely be one of the most important days of her life. Good on you!

    You are quite the cut-up kinda brother... we all see that in your wry sense of humor. LOL. I am always thrilled to see your wide range of artistic creativity in these blacksmith projects, taking your mom's suggestion...but making it even BETTER with the needed extra band. Loved your exquisite video wrap-up scene.. blowing out those candles. Way to go!!!

    As your attorney I advise you to re-do the entire project with a wider base. The design should also include anchors, an automatic flame-suppression sprinkler system, and a shield of some sort to protect those in attendance from hot wax that wind could whip up into their eyes and cause blindness and deformities.

    Nicely done! a tip for the candles or the candle dishes, they catch the wax so if they are bigger than the candle they will keep the wax off the floor and also off of the candlestick holder and as mentioned below, a spike to hold the candles in place securely.
    Get that forge up and running, from seeing what you can do with just oxy acetylene you have Huge potential... Love the workshop too, proper envy!
    Thanks for sharing man and have fun at the wedding!!

    I've always thought you were a FAIRLY wise chap, never more than now with your decision to opt out of including footage of your mother's visit to the shop in her swimsuit! : ) Gorgeous candelabra, Justin, and just the vision Josie had in mind for the table under the arch.

    Great video, terrific work as always. Your dry delivery of jokes is hilarious too.
    I've been working with a lot of bending recently, shaping curves and such, and I found making a few pairs of bending forks made it all possible. Damn handy tool to keep around, especially the adjustable ones.

    • @possiblemarten
      @possiblemarten 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I made my fork from 1" square solid stock, sleeved into square tube. Drilled a hole in the tube and welded a nut so I could use a bolt as a set screw. The posts are 7/8" cold roll, and I ended up putting a small gusset of the post attached to the tube.
      Works like a charm. Most of the time I just put it in my vice and manipulate the stock to be bent, but when I use it on something bigger, I put a cheater pipe over the end.
      I'm a pretty shitty blacksmith though.

    Hello from the Mid Valley! Nice project. Love the scroll work and the banding. I've been thinking of a better way to band lately and I'll give that a try. Looks like it's time to build your own forge. There's a place in Jefferson that has fire brick for a buck a brick.

    sweet. youre getting pretty good man! you forgot the pins for the candles though. should be about 3/4 - 1 in long so the candles cant fall off. maybe a dulled nail would work.

    • @johnm9548
      @johnm9548 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might want to add those pins. In years past I remember a house fire caused by a short soft candle sliding off its stand.

    Hey JD, I'm just starting up in Blacksmithing and general making. I managed to build a small forge for knifemaking last month but its really not big enough for any of my current projects. I don't suppose you could share any info on your forge, that you are making? Maybe even a little update video? :)

    • @MrNarpYarp
      @MrNarpYarp 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah I see, I'm sure you'll get it looking great after a little work. I'm looking forward to seeing what you make of it, looks like it could use a re-lining? :) With regards to my forge, its a small propane ran thing that's made of an old steel can with plaster/sand insulation, it had its use getting small steel bars up to forging temps for a little knife. Looks nice and jury-rigged, its just too small to be practical now. Hoping to build a larger one next chance I get! Probably around Christmas.

    Justin, I was talking with a blacksmith friend of mine about you. We watched this video. While talking he said, that dudes going to burn his right hand. I, said what? He said, crossing your hand while holding a red hot rod, may not be wise. We watched again. Oooh my. Just a friendly FYI. I noticed this video is a year old. But still. A teaching moment is a moment. So, be careful. Also, my friend has been teaching blacksmithing metal work for longer than I been alive. I’m 51. Thanks man, really enjoying your show.
