I think it is way more because of Steve He just sucks so much to watch, he is so annoyingly broken. And also a big reason why everything feels so stale is because the stages are just boring We have over 100 stages, and any stage that isn't the most boring ass flat terrain two plat is illegal live a little. @@xolotltolox7626 the only issue is that platform fighters terrains or different platforms give certain characters ridiculous advantages over others that isn't even a product of their kit design as opposed to the stage design in general. I assure you the spectacle of watching one character archetype or individual counter picking certain stages to do one continuous gimmick would put you in the same boat as that one current nuisance in Ultimate's meta game.
I agree, but I think part of the lack of story and player engagement is two things: 1, COVID kneecapping tournaments. And 2, the game being difficult to show personality in. It's hard expressing yourself when a top tier is busy laming you out or killing you at 0. The simplistic DI system of recent Smash games makes combos either unreasonably finicky or inescapable, which in turn also removes some amount of expression. Also the homogeneity and cleanness of hitboxes removes some amount of player creativity too. That leaves one of the last places for creativity in making big reads, but this is a game that rewards safe hitboxes and reliable kill combos more than anything. Look at tournament footage. I'd say most stocks are taken in a mid to high level match by safe aerials or a reliable kill combo. If that's the best way to take stocks, why do anything else if you want to win?
@@Altares_V Yeah but a little slope is too much? Yeah but it's because you don't expect it and doesn't know the matchup many times, then you don't have the time to learn. A real tournament where you know ahead of time it's gonna be a 1 stock ruleset sounds dope 😂🎉
Dedede's strength was that, if he ever got a stock lead, he was still a massive threat even at like 150%. If your first stock was close and you both got to high percents, but Dedede killed first, you couldn't just rush back in and throw out aerials hoping to snag a kill, because he could exploit the hell out of that. Once he got a stock lead, Dedede forced you to respect him, which in turn meant he controlled the pace of the game. Plus, in smash, once characters get to a high enough percent they can actually become harder to kill, because they take too much knockback for your safe kill setups to work, forcing you to either go for chip damage for a while or risky plays. These were all things that Dedede took advantage of, and which were magnified in longer games with more than one stock.
@ id argue those are valid but thats a “winning more” scenario that i dont think counts as a buff. “Oh but if I had the lead i could get further in the lead” kinda doesnt make much sense as a nerf since you trade off control of the game for a game win in this scenario. @@l.t.c3847 were you talking about Waft? Cuz from what I have seen, Waft was weirdly not a huge part of Wario’s gameplan. Maybe I am watching tournaments that are too old, or I’m just misinterpreting things, but Waft seems more like something a player just throws out or uses for recovery. However, I did notice that having a partner is super useful for covering Wario’s glaring weakness of air releases, so I assumed that was the whole deal. Was waft that big a deal in Brawl?

i always feel like a moron for watching these videos because half of it is just coney contributing absolutely nothing. the real move going forward is to just go straight to the description and watch the original. at least he has the decency to do that

I'm of the opinion that "smash 4" is easier to type than "sm4sh" and that sm4sh is a bad abbreviation
i hate the pronunciation as well "smuh foursh" sounds so dumb
Brawlternative jumspcare 💤
Ultimate is stale because it's six years old. By every other metric, the game hasn't been more interesting.
