It's just a little too neon and goofy. Stoked for it, but I wish it was 30% less Stranger Things and 30% more The Thing instead. All of the core characters look like they are at Disney Land rather than in a horror movie.
It’s the fact that they aren’t dirty that does it for me. They don’t look like they’ve “survived” in their setting for more than half a day. Sure there is exceptions to this, but the coherency shown in stuff like oh innistrad and lorwyn is what makes those some of my favourite sets.

Duskmourn is deflating the more I see. Feels like you gotta buy alot of weird flavoured magic to stay in the game but it is a hot mess
I both like the art in this set including the frames, and I understand the desire for a more gritty spooky art with lovecraft style to it. Chainsaw for example reminds me of 80s comic book art, fluorescent and such. I'm an old school magic player looking to get back into the game and the cards looking waaaaay different than they used to doesn't bother me at all. Also those textured full card art foils look incredible imho.
The more this video goes forward and the more cards I see, I'm really impressed by the art. Will look to grab a collector's box 💯

I have a Blood Artist alter from a local artist that is GhostFace and it's my favorite card that I have! Even if I were to sell all my magic stuff and stop playing I would keep that card and frame it. Would love a Wes Craven Secret Lair

I am so upset there is no resident evil cards in this like Jurassic world in ixalan. It would have made the perfect fit. And wizards already did street fighter with capcom so it wouldn’t have been far off
Seems that players get to enjoy the newest set for 5 minutes because another new set is being released. I will skip Duskmourn. I am not a fan of most of the artwork and of course there will be another price increase. Thank you for the video.

due to the actions of Hasbro over the last few years, I decided to never give them any more of my money. The garbage product they've been putting out for several years now makes it really easy to keep that promise to myself! makes me very happy!
I don't see any issue at all with a TV being used for a collector's box and it having any serious bearing on any of the thematic underpinnings happening within the set itself. And I've yet to hear anybody talk about modern horror equivalents within this set. They keep talking about innistrad which deals specifically and intentionally in Hammer Studio. Gothic horror whereas what this set projects is slasher era type horror things along the lines of films like hellraiser the cube cabin in the woods slither insidious the babadook 14 ghosts And things that are more closely aligned with high levels of Gore unsettling supernatural, monsters, body horror and light buddy theming. By and large this the set I am most excited for and I understand there's no accounting for taste and not everything is going to make everybody happy. But I really don't get any of the outrage about this set. It looks freaking awesome
What is with all magic creators going "UGH they SKIPPED bloomburrow!!!!" when they're just planting hype for future sets like they've always done, it seriously just feels like whiny ragebait at this point

For Doomsday Excruciator, I'd put it in a self mill deck, then shuffle your graveyard back in after casting this

Edit: I'm dumb I see what you mean. You have to mill a decent bit before casting to still have an advantage with the double card draw at upkeep but I definitely see this working.

As someone who was born in the mid Seventies, I happily admit that love the vibe and many of the artworks. Though I hope they've managed to find a balance between the goofiness of things like Ghost Busters or Gremlins and way more visceral things like The Thing, The Chainsaw Massacre or Alien for example. And you have to add all the Slashers, S. King's shadow and so on and so forth. Packed. But damn, that demon has such a beautiful casting cost!
PS: Seems like Zoja finally has nowhere to run. Who want some wolf pelt for the next winter?

As a horror lover, I'm stoked for this set. I think where WOTC goes wrong with sets... If you're gonna theme, then theme. It's why Bloomburrow, Fallout, Warhammer, etc work and why Thunder Junction flopped. Where I think they may have missed the mark here is including the anime guns and tech flavor that feels out of place. They should have stuck to theme and used classic improvised weapons like butcher knife on a broom handle, a machete, chainsaw, medieval weaponry found in a mansion, etc. I won't love the anime guns but I'll forgive it lol

Nothing says great horror set from the 80s, like a robot rat in the trailer... why ruin the horror theme with ratatouille with crap hair and a backpack? Freddy and Chuck don't play nice.

I feel It’s marketed toward people who don’t play magic in a nostalgic way to bring them (and their wallets) into the fold, and the people who do play magic will continue to buy the singles they want for their decks while simultaneously looking at this product with one eyebrow raised.

If they ever did a "The Thing" universes beyond type thing like they did with Transformers or Jurassic Park, I would lose my mind. It's probably my favorite horror movie, or at bare minimum, in my top 5. I kind of doubt they will cause it's not quite as ubiquitous or universally loved as something like Jurassic Park, but man. I'd need to collect every single card.

Could still happen, only seen a few cards. But I really wanted more gore and nightmarish creatures. The chainsaw is cool, but I was thinking more along the lines of old surgical extraction. I'm still optimistic.
Doomsday Excruciator seems broken for commander the moment it's played game over in just a few turns.

Honestly haven’t been this excited for a set in a very very long time, and Dan Mumford doing the full art lands for this set just makes it all that much better for me personally.

Bloom burrow was the only set I was interested in. Once it's here I'm checking out and don't care about anything else. I have no interest in alternate arts no interest in any other sets and no interest in any of the new information. MTG is basically dead to me
Universe beyond did Jurassic park and fall out though. Venture to say cowboys was a departure as well. A tv is not that crazy.
I think they have been ruining the game for a while now with all the ridiculous unreadable secret lair, inconsistent and ugly border treatments, phyrexian writing, crossover trash with woke injections, ... and now this is just taking me right out of the game and universe, it is absolute garbage
Super excited for this set. I am getting a Collector Booster Box, Play Booster Box, Bundlge and hopefully 2 nightmare bundles. This will be the first time I actually make a set cube out of a set. I really just love the theme and hope the cards and limited format plays well. This will be my Halloween game for years to come.
