    Interesting to see how most of the VHF channels alternate between New York and Philadelphia to minimize cross-channel interference. That seems to be the way it's done in many regions. You don't have stations on the same channel in neighboring cities, but adjacent channels yes. Amazing to think of how the FCC managed to sort that out for the entire nation.

    RF channels 1 and RF 37 are no longer used for broadcast TV, but it is possible for virtual channel 1 and virtual channel 37 to be used in the age of digital broadcast TV using the ATSC 1.0 standard in lieu of the original NTSC standard, as virtual channels are not susceptible to frequency problems like RF channels were. The virtual channel could be channel 3 while the RF channel could be 21, for example.
    Thanks to the conversion to digital broadcast TV, channels on virtual channel 1 are becoming common in Mexico, since national broadcaster Azteca Uno moved to that position recently.
    One instance of a virtual channel 37 in the digital age can be found on New York City's WNWT-LD, an affiliate of NewsNet.

    • @newstarcadefan
      @newstarcadefan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct, For PISP some channels can go to 1, or are ordered to go to 1 to avoid interference on the virtual channel/RF channel of the same. As for channel 37, at least in north America, that's where radio telescopes are assigned to.
