    I am a voracious reader. So, when picking favorites it's with the knowledge that great books will be below the ones I find most memorable among the literal 1000's I've read. It excites me to offer these as not one is mentioned among your listed. Full disclosure - I'm a 57 year old book nerd :) 10.) The Deed of Paksenarrion ~ Elizabeth Moon 9.) The Gate Trilogy ~ Orson Scott Card this is urban fantasy 8.) The King's Blade series ~ Dave Duncan 7.) The Farseer Trilogy ~ Robin Hobb 6.) The Tales of Tiger and Del ~ Jennifer Roberson - every time I re-read this series I wonder why it's not higher :) It's that damn good. 5.) The Riddle Master of Hed ~ Patricia A. McKillip 4.) Lightbringer series ~ Brent Weeks 3.) The Sword of Truth series ~ Terry Goodkind - wonderful books that were FAR to watered down in the TV adaption. 2.) The Taltos series ~ Steven Brust -- HEY! There is a "kind" of avian-ish... with all the attitude in the world. 1a.) Yeah yeah, I get it, a cop out :D The First and Second Chronicles of Thomas Covenant ~ Stephen R. Donaldson - The second most memorable characters of any series I have ever read. From the absolutely loathsome main character and his growth, to the Amazing Saltheart Foamfollower. This series will stick with you long after you put it down. 1b) Dragonlance Legends ~ Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman - It is impossible to overstate how good these are and how important to to modern fantasy they were. The characters are fully developed and will occupy a place in your grey matter for the rest of your life.

    We got the same top two favorite series. I'm one of those you mentioned who has been a fan of WoT long enough to have to wait on the books. The only slog was having to wait years for each of them, lol. That and Mat disappearing for a whole book, lol. Not read most of the rest of your top 10; got a few of them on my miles long TBR though.
    Other series I love are the Drenai Sage by Gemmell, First Law by Abercrombie, Malazan by Erikson and Kingkiller Chronicles by Rothfuss. If you haven't read any of those I suggest you check them out.

    I'm gonna go a bit old school and say my favorite series (what comes to mind right now anyway) are: the Pern books by Anne McCaffrey, The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot (a nostalgia pick), the Redwall books by Brian Jacques, and the Howl's Moving Castle series by Diana Wynn Jones, and the Earthsea series by Ursula K Le Guin. These books are ones I've found myself rereading most often over the years. I've started a lot of the series you've mentioned here but not finished them, but I definitely love WOT so far. And I've started the Mistborn books as well.

    If you ever get into another slump I'd recommend the Riftwar Cycle by Ray E. Feist. Initial 3 book trilogy and then another 28 books spanning several centuries to top it off. Add on the Empire Trilogy by Feist & Wurts which runs in parallel with the timeline of the 1st 3 books. Essential fantasy reading. Wurts has her own epic series which is very high fantasy. I found it a bit cumbersome tbh.

    Hello there,
    don´t know why my recomendations brought me here, but for once i agree with them to stay...
    Well, If we´re going for my favorite series, i guess they are
    -The Lord of the rings(i guess we all can agree on this one),
    -The Witcher(by Andrej Sapowski),
    -and more of a child book series: Samurai (by Chriss Bradford.)
    That´s them, i guess, for the fantasy genre at least. If we would include sci-fi, the list would grow by some entries, and if single books would be included, it would brake every record(and attention span)...

    • @heronmarkedhooks
      @heronmarkedhooks  ปีที่แล้ว +1
