Regarding 3:06, I'd just like to point out that Aabria had a recent game where there was something called an Ash-hole. It was 3 1/2 hours of her players saying "Ash-hole".

The dragon is Themberchaud from an Underdark city called Gracklstugh which you can find most recently in the Out of the Abyss 5e adventure. Yes, there is an official movie plushy and it's chonky.

I was kind of hoping it was the Empress of Blood, but this would then be an entirely different movie.

'The Orifice' has Aabria feeling 'The Ash Hole' vibes.
She also forgot the name of it before the next session and realized the name DURING her opening monologue.
To be fair, The Orifice is very... orifice-y.
When they started explaining classes and items, you can see that little DM spark in their eyes. These guys really love the game and I hope this movie turns out to be great for all our sakes.
I was like that when I was watching the movie. I’m pretty sure my friends hated me for referencing everything Ahaha.

@@imjang2430 I don't really know what race the barbarian is but 3 main characters are human out of the 5 person party (with one possible half human I remember smtg like that was quickly passed over) but the races shown even outside the party are numerous(undeads, felines, bird people, halfling and probably more)
I'm haunted by memories of the first D&D movie (Jeremy Irons and Thora Birch). My expectations for the new film are very very low. I would love to be pleasantly surprised.

i actually think it looks like a huge step down from the jeremy irons movie...and i am not a fan of the jeremy irons movie.
I feel like I would merely have been disappointed by that original movie, rather than haunted by it... if not for Marlon Wayans. That was where the creative missteps truly crossed a line for me.
While jumping into the gelatinous cube is a bad call, there’s nothing that makes us assume the players know the numbers involved
To be fair, there’s really only one direction that they can be sure that the displacer isn’t jumping at them from.
They're also hard to spot, there's a chance they didn't see it

That fat dragon is Themberchaud. Raised by duergar in the underdark as a slave to fire their forges. They kept him very well fed but in such small confines he'd get no exercise and has the dubious honor as Faeruns fattest dragon. Very cool the writers included him.
That's actually awesome, impressive lore knowledge there! Hats off to ya.
You have to wonder if D&D invented him after the red dragon story told in the casino in Rush Hour 2. Where the villagers fed the red dragon to keep him strong, to guard their treasure in a cave, except he got too big, and no one could get to it anymore.

They have a channel here on YT and also stream on Twitch; they have a running D&D campaign called Failed Save (coming up on its 6th season), as well as another campaign called Banesbreak which will have a 2nd season starting soon (both campaigns DMd by Vince). They also play other TTRPGs with people from the space, including Omar and Aabria. You should check them out.

I love them all and their reactions+recognizing stuff from the books was great. This is obviously cut down though, please release the full version. I would watch these guys talk about this for like half an hour or whatever. XD

In 3e Druids could do it I believe
@@thecharmer5981 at 24th level, with the right feats, yes. Because Owlbears in that edition were Large Magical Beasts, instead of Monstrosities like they are in 5e.
Because D&D "fanbois" get pissy about mentioning "that other game" I TOTALLY won't say that it's also possible in "that other game".

@@thecharmer5981 In 4e, Druids can turn into whatever the heck they want, it's just that it's going to be sized to the character (i.e., a medium sized PC turns into a medium sized owlbear, while a tiny PC like a pixie would be a tiny owlbear...which would be hilarious, and I kinda want to do this thing...). There's even a concept of just kinda...being the pure essence of beast, never truly settling in one form entirely while in Wildshape, and just being a whirling nightmare dervish of fangs and claws.

Holga's weapon is a darksteel axe and it fell into a forge, which is why it looked like it was on fire.
So cool to see a Displacer beast. In my current campaign, I tamed a Displacer Beast, and he is now the Mascot of our mercenary group. I play a dwarf arcane trickster/cleric who rides him into fights.
I see Aabria and I immediately go "peace is restored"
I just got home from watching the movie and I can say the movie pretty enjoyable. the lore faithful, the interaction not overly forced funny and pretty balanced, the cast get great bond in this movie. I can't say about other people's but i certainly enjoy this movie 👌☺️

Look, I get all the fury off of the whole D&D One thing, I do, but can we not kneecap this movie please! I have wanted a good movie for this IP for so dayum long, and it looks like the writers actually gave a F about it from what I see so far. Seeing how the characters are shown, hearing the DM's geek out about them...good GOD this makes me happy! Our whole playing group is going to see it opening weekend, can NOT wait!!!

Man I was so hyped for this movie for so long, and now with the recent WOTC stuff I don't even know if I will go see it. What a bummer.
It's kinda where I'm at but it looks so good. But the OGL stuff has left a bad taste in my mouth. I've been fully on PF2e since it dropped in 2019 but it still made my heart hurt

1:13 That is absolutely not the Drakhorn. The Drakhorn is a specific unique magic item made from an ancient red dragon horn so large that it requires 2 people to hold it so that a third can sound it.

im playing a paladin in curse of strahd campaing and i can say we are not boring my paladin glory is a mix of a Viking and a Knight so i drink so much and love fight

You were right about the OP paladin. Regé-Jean Page gave a masterclass in how to play a lawful good character properly. He was so noble he made my hair hurt, but I couldn't help liking him!
The description of the paladin just had me nodding going "yep thats me in real life."

I like that it's actually fairly accurate to what the source books entail, I did see the movie and I have to say it was really funny probably one of my favorite movies to come out and I do like all the references.

I need to make a permanent note in my head to ask the DM what flavour the gelatinous cube is, if I ever get caught in one. Seeing as I have a habit of treating strength as a dump stat, and will therefore never break out, might as well have some fun with my action.
Charisma is my dump stat. For some reason, I usually roll an 8 during character creation. Unfortunate when it's for a sorcerer with a Strength of 18 and AC of 10.

I didn't have charisma as my dump stat, only cause I was playing a rogue who's backstory was in undercover work. So they needed high deception.
@@ShesAaRebel Well she hasn't been killed yet despite some close calls and boops things pretty good with her quarterstaff. It has a modified spike for extra damage (thank you artificer). :)

I've played a bit of D&D, but mostly, I'm a Magic-Player. And I get excited for these people getting excited, knowing how much time and energy they've invested into this game (if you can still call it that)

HEY! I saw her(Saige) in a REALLY bad ass Call of Cthulhu game!!!
Around 3:30 I think Saige might be right about magic being cast on the... let's say weapon, it looks like and axe but in the next clip it almost looks like a war hammer, because right after that we see what looks like the same weapon NOT all glowing with devastating fiery power! Good shout!
Now to my opinion of the trailer, and movie: As long as I, and people in general, accept that this is NOT going to be a DRAMATIC movie I believe it will do very well! If people come into the movie expecting a dramatic reenactment of D&D they WILL be SERIOUSLY disappointed! I think I like that they decided to go more comedy over drama, most tables end up there anyway why shouldn't a movie! I might actually take effort to see this movie now, even with all the BS that WotC/Hasbro has pulled the last few months!!!

I *love* how the things they said about paladins work with the stuff that actually happens in the movie, it's wild.
So far the thing I am most hyped about from Honor among Thieves is the new Dicelings that have come out hearty D20 that are well made almost like dycast metal and then they unfold into D&D beings like an Owlbear or a Beholder or a Displacer Beast or one of many different chromatic dragons
