That comment from that lady is so typical of some people on set. She doesn’t know the technology of peaking or how to evaluate it but has no problem questioning your judgement in such a passive aggressive way in front of everyone vs just asking you to show her again just to be sure. “Can you just buzz it out and back in? I just want to see it, thanks.”
It happens all the time. They don't realize you've already punched in 2X with the Focus Magnification, double check with the Peaking, turned off and on focus assist, punch in again, etc. Lol!
Thank you for this video Ray. I just bought the Tilta mirage VND kit along with some vaxis 95mm IRND ND and polarize filters for my FX3. However I wanted to get one or two 4'x5.65" filters from a third party.. and this small rig ND looks like the best bang for the buck.
Thanks Danny! The SmallRig filters are NICE. Very good affordable option in my opinion. Especially considering my Schneider filters are over 300 each. I have 5 of the 95mm circular filters from Vaxis for the Mirage, so I'll have a video on those very soon! Also, did you see my video about the tunneling and vignetting in the Mirage? It's towards the end of this detailed video: th-cam.com/video/E-H2uGuXrVA/w-d-xo.html
This matte box only holds one rectangular filter at a time, as it comes. I think Tilta makes some additional trays where you can stack rectangular filters, though.
Great video! I just got the Nisi IR ND because I needed the IR cut for my bmpcc4k. These from Smallrig look very legit tho. Tanks for the video and cheers from Valencia. The city😂
Right! I have sooo much SmallRig gear and it just keeps getting better! I didn't notice too much of a color shift when I was editing. I kept checking the White Walls surrounding that "Pink Wall" set. I didn't do any color correction to that footage of the Model, when I was showing with and without the filters. Doesn't appear to changing the color, just exposure.
Hey! I'm looking to invest in the Tilta Mirage. I think it's a great investment, moreover, the 95mm Vaxis filter size is such good savings. My question is this. Why are you investing in Smallrig Filters that cost double the amount than the Vaxis 95 filters? I've watch your other videos so I know that you have the VND set up already. Also I know you have many of the smaller 95mm filters too. So why would you go for the more expensive option when you already have access to VND (i'm aware of the vignetting issue) or the 95mm Vaxis NDs?
Hey Will. The Tilta Mirage and Vaxis Filters are a great investment. I highly recommend them both! I use them on jobs all the time and I rent them out. The SmallRig fixed NDs are just for different situations. Like in this video, how I was shooting in a Studio in a controlled lighting environment. Plus you're able to use wider focal lengths like the 16-35mm GM with a fixed ND w/o the vignetting. Of course, I showed the vignetting in 2 other videos, like you mentioned, but when other DPs use my matte box and that lens, I just tell them to zoom into like 18mm and it's gone. But I always let them know!
@@RayValencia ok great! thanks for the feedback! i think i'd prefer the vaxis over smallrig due to their affordability ($100 less than the smallrig). But just for confirmation, the VND and other Vaxis filters only vignette when used with Tilta's "Stackable Circular Filter Tray", correct? And one more quick question. Does the vignetting disappear after zooming into 18 on a full-frame sensor or some other sensor size? Essentially what sensor size do you have that allows vignetting to disappear at 18. Lastly, thanks so much for the swift reply and great content! Hope your channel continues to grow.
@@willfilmsstudio155 The Vaxis filters don't vignette at all. It's the actual matte box I'm seeing. Straight out of the box, with the 16-35mm GM on full frame, you can see the matte box just slightly around the edges. Until about 18mm. With the 2nd filter tray added, you can see vignetting around 24mm on a 24-70mm. It really depends on the lens too. Some prime lenses may never see any vignetting at all, like when I use this matte box on cinema lenses. It's still a great option for a much Lower price than the full sized matte boxes, even with the slight compromises. Sometimes I Have to zoom in 2-3% in Post to reduce the vignetting if I am running and gunning and forget to crop in on the lens. Not a huge deal to me, and I use this on paid jobs every week. Works great on Super35mm cameras like the Red Komodo too! Hope you like it!
"Is very high quality" flawless or does it give artifacts? Putting $200 into a filter that ruins a $10 000 shoot is a bad buy. Im looking at these and Nisi filters.
So are you saying I should trust the focus assist and not my eyes? Damn what is she even doing close to the camera? 😅 She can go ahead and make selfies instead 😝 jk
I got both they are mind blowing. 🤟👍

liked & subscribed. thank you for this Ray this has definitely helped me understand better what ND filter I need to get for my FX3
EB!! Thanks for joining us. Awesome camera!!! My fav ever. How long have you had your FX3? People are still struggling to find them in stock!
It's nice to see that many of the expensive accessories of the past were really just because the market value
Good on you Ray, happy to subscribe mate 👍🏻 Cheers from Western Australia 🇦🇺
Thanks iSpike! Much appreciated

@@RayValencia I'll check out now, thanks!
If I was to buy ND 0.6 and 1.2 could I stack them together to make ND 1.8 with this matte box?

What is the best and most affordable matte box for sigma 14-24 F 2.8 for Sony?
How do you clean them, please make a video on that.
wow the little karen moment made me raging haha, nice video
🤣🤣🤣 Thanks, Dennis!
Same here. Lol. It blury I know more than those little red lines... I love how you just confirmed her sarcastic reaction... um yeah.🤣

Thanks Alex in Valencia!! Much appreciated. Does the Bmpcc notoriously need an IRND filter? I haven't used one before.
@@RayValencia It really does specially in high levels of nd filtration. it's a great camera but they didn't put the ir cut filter in it.
Smallrig keeps killing it with professional gear without huge price tags. Do the filters have much white balance shift? Overall a great review mate

What tripod setup is this? 4:49
disyou try their variable nd?

"Should I trust the red dots than my eyes?" Good luck with clients like that haha. Trust focus peaking than eyes looking at a small monitor lady.
Already irritated me when I heard she started speaking. I choose who I work with and now sign off on everything whoever it is. lol
PRISMFX OR SMALLRIG???? theyre both on sale right now. is it worth spending an extra 75 for the prismfx???
I've never used the PrismFX. I can only speak for SmallRig's.
This burps
Burps from the heart.
@5:28, yes lady… because you clearly can’t see. Bad eye sight exists and you aren’t exempt from having poor vision, despite your ego’s opinion! Lol
