Alex Meyers the one thing that always got me in the feels with this show was when Sarah Michelle Gellar would cry as the character Buffy! It would just break me down knowing that even though this is just a supernatural fiction tv show, everything she did as BUFFY felt so real! Even when she cried for the most saddest moments in buffy! We saw humanity and it broke walls! I really can't see another actress do that as Sarah Michelle Gellar she is one of a kind! And i hope in the future provided that this new series of BUFFY REBOOT is a success, that Sarah will make an appearance giving her support and passing the mantle in hope to salute the BUFFYVERSE into a new direction for many years to come! And also again i hope they choose Vanessa Morgan she would be the perfect choice and she would really carry out the show through the way we all could enjoy it once again! Vanessa Morgan would be perfect for the new role of BUFFY the vampire slayer REBOOT series because a lot of times executives producers want to choose certain actors who have a huge following already Vanessa Morgan is known for RIVERDALE and The Shannara Chronicles Degrassi the Canadian show called The Latest Buzz, My baby sitters a Vampire, Finding Carter! And if the executive see's this her track record they would feel more inclined to go with someone in this generation who has already done many roles that give the executive enough free space to build upon the nostalgia to lure more BUFFYVERSE fans and new ones they can get from this generation through Vanessa Morgan's following! And Vanessa Morgan is smoking hot! It's going to be fine if they can find an actresses that has such a good track! Take care!

@@shadowbliss270 Eh the dude looked like he was 22 and a lot of states have the age on consent set at 16 as long as the other person isn't older than 24. I agree it's weird and I don't understand how the dynamics of a relationship like that can be healthy. I mean even if she were 18 it would still be weird and predatory for the same reasons you described imo I don't think her being one year older would make her anymore prepared or Angel anymore ethical. Also Vampires stop aging so even though he might have 240 years of life experience his cognitive capacity is probably stuck at the same age he turned.
"James Spader??? Well there's a random name i haven't heard in a while... What? Was he some dreamboat back in the 90s or something?" *Shows a James Spader pic from the 90s* "well..... shoot!! Can he call me too?" LMAO!!!
Aditya Upadhye actually I disagree I believe his prime time to be when you played Ultron and also the Blacklist and after I edit this I'm also going to add Stargate
Great point. That skater opening is random in retrospect. Xander was later shown to have a love for comic books, but he had zero friends with the same interest. It was always strange that he never had any male friends.
I see it as this was Xander’s first time on a skateboard, he even says “I don’t know how to stop.” He was trying to act cool but failed and gave up on skateboarding.
As cheesy as Buffy is nowadays, we can all agree it's better than Riverdale. Probably should clarify: what I meant was Buffy to some people is cheesy now but it's still better than Riverdale in terms of quality.
If you continue to watch the show and on to Angel she actually has an amazing character arc and becomes one fo my favorite characters. This “mean girl” has a lot more to offer than meets the eye!
I attempted to watch Buffy twice. The first time i could not get through the first season. I gave it another chance and finished the whole show. Best choice I've ever made.
Passion of the Nerd reckons you only really need to watch the first two episodes, Angel and the finale of season one to get the story. Some stories like Witch are fun, Nightmares has some good ideas as does Out of My Mind, Out of Sight, The Pack and Never Kill a Boy in the First Date some cool background the rest are kinda there and Teacher's Pet and I Robot, You Jane are especially bad.
The last two seasons are divisive season six is depressing and season seven focuses on a narrower range of characters so I understand the hate but I don't share it.
As the seasons moved along... The show got better because the writers added depth to characters Xander, Willow, Giles, Cordelia and later Angel and Spike (w/drucilla). It was the show to watch in the 90's. Mixed typical teen problems and being the "chosen one".... If you watched every episode, you'd get the corniness and quips in the show. It's part of the charm.
What's great about the show is that as time went on and characters grew up it transitioned from typical teen dramas to 'typical' real world problems along with the chosen one stuff. It had a balance, and i think it tackled issues like grief, depression and addiction really well too.
Spike is one of if not my favourite character. The metaphors, the character arcs, the tragedy, how you see how and why everything that happens matters is why I love it so much. Also it influenced so many of todays shows, like the whole big bad thing was all Buffy. It’s not one of those shows where a thing happens then is solved in the next episode. Like the season 2 finale for example, it’s a permanent thing and Buffy and those around her have to deal with it. Even when it’s resolved it isn’t really cause now there’s this huge conflict that we see consume both Angel and Buffy. And is still brought up in later seasons in the series as well as in Angel. Also the way it’s resolved we find out later is just part of this intricate plan by literally evil incarnated. So it matters so much.
Actually it was pretty annoying I'm betting that if the Winchesters rolled into town, they would have solved a majority of their problems in a few episodes rather than a few seasons
@@axelwulf6220 Yeah, no. Buffy is the best TV show ever made in my opinion. Supernatural is a good show, but Sam and Dean got nothing on Buffy. Regardless, the Buffyverse and the Supernaturalverse (is their a better name for it?) are so different that it is all but impossible to predict how either set of characters would do in the others universe.
Maya Lackman Sam and Dean actually have more experience with the same shit Buffy fights Where she started in high school, they started in when Sam was still in diapers and Dean was about to start first grade They had formal training in hand-to-hand combat, marksmanship, and studied occult lore Buffy was pretty much chosen to be a Slayer and I felt that she didn't exactly "earn" her title as it was just given to her Sam was chosen too, but for a much darker, and much more deranged reason Now I've been following these two for a long time, a problem comes up, they try to figure out what the Hell it is, and how to kill it BAM Problem solved in two episodes or less Unless it's an overarching plot, that spans a season or three, but it's meant to be that way Heaven hates them Hell can't contain them
@@axelwulf6220 I've watched all of Buffy, and 13 seasons of Supernatural. Buffy earned her title. She was chosen, yes. But then she was chosen because she was the best out of every girl in the whole world. It's not like just a random girl was chosen. How many hundreds of millions of eligible girls were there that could have been chosen? Only the best was. Get that through your head. Buffy was the best out of hundreds of millions of candidates. Sam and Dean have more experience? Well, yes they do. However Buffy has the memories (albeit unconscious) of every Slayer who has ever lived. This isn't a direct equivalent to experience, but it is equally as useful. Also, experience is useful but it isn't the end all. Buffy has formal training in hand to hand combat, and studied occult lore under Rupert Giles. In her world guns are pretty piss pore against monsters anyway, but I guarantee you if she picked one up she would be an expert because she is the slayer. Sam was chosen for a much darker, more deranged reason. You're right about that. But how is that remotely relevant to his skill/power as a warrior? And if we're talking about what makes for a good show, that depends on personal taste. Personally, I can't stand stories where the main character is chosen for a dark/deranged reason. I love stories where the main character is a paragon of virtue and chosen for a holy mission. Buffy is both of those things. But that is just taste. Sam and Dean has zero experience with the shit Buffy fights. Buffy has zero experience with the shit Sam and Dean fight. At the end of the day there is little to no overlap in the settings, characters, monsters, or shows. They are simply to different to determine which character is more effective. Now, if we are talking about a straight up fight, I'll let my Mom answer this one. She is a big fan of buffy and a bigger fan of Supernatural. She says Buffy and Dean are neck and neck, but Buffy would definitely beat Sam.
Cordelia became easily one of my fav characters on television. There was this ep were Buffy could hear everyone's thoughts and Cordelia was the only one who spoke exactly what she was thinking, it was such a good character decision. And once she said something that really struck with me, it went kind of like: "shame is a wasted emotion. you are not going to be on your death bed thinking 'oh, I wish I was more shy'" or something like that
That was the beauty of her character! The depth she has contrasts the persona she puts out to everyone as the stereotypical popular high school girl.. she's also pretty clever in her own way. You really start to see her true self on angel after she leaves high school and the facade fades away. Idk why I've seen so many buffy fans hate on her, she really is a neat, well rounded character! :D
The only reason I started using Google was because Willow mentioned it in the show, before that I didn't even know any other searcher than Yahoo! existed😂
Buffy really came into its own at Season Two. The end of Season One is a solid lead into it, but Season Two just takes off and *flies*, with Season Three really bringing a depth of characters you don't ever find on television.
@@poolwhite4790 season 6 wasn't even made by Joss, he was busy with Firefly at the time. He came back during season 7 and tried to get the show back on track. Personally, I find season 6 sloppy and full of poor choices. Not a fan of Spuffy. At least not early season 6 spuffy.
@@fangsabre Spuffy is my favorite ship of all time. Personally I can't stand Bangel though. I'm assuming your a Bangel person as most fans tend to be one or the other, so I guess we're even.
Buffy may be the best show I've ever watched. Yes, the first season isn't the best and it can be cringy, but it's magical, emotional, painful and intense. People die, things get hard and some episodes are one of the most amazing episodes I've ever seen from any show ever made. I remember crying so hard so many times. Hmmm, need to watch this again.
"James Spader thats a random name i havent heard in awhile was he some kinda dream boat from the 90's or something well shoot call me too". This line had me dying of laughter
I met James Marsters (he plays Spike) at a convention when i was 17. Went with my best friend at the time, stood in line for like an hour to take a picture with him.. when it was my turn i literally couldn't talk. I squeaked. He was really nice about it though lol. I'll never forget that day 😍🥰
I accidently read "there are some nice underlying MEMES" instead of "themes" and i just shrugged and was gonna roll with it and was really curious about the memes this was connected to, until i reread it 😂
I feel like almost 90% of the shows that you've reviewed so far want to be "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer" in some way. The high school dramas, the shows centered around teenagers, and the Arrow superhero shows all follow the Buffy format. However, none of them manage to really be as good. The only one that manages to even get close (for me, anyway) is Season One of The Flash. Case in point, there's a reason why this show has college courses and academia dedicated to its writing.
ParaMC Sam yesssssss. Except Wynonna is slightly more cooler. And waverly is also a better willow but a missing Xander is disappointing. Have you seen season 3 yet? The first episode aired today, I think.
The Flash may be influenced by Buffy in its CWness but that also in turn shows how Buffy was influenced by comics. It was structured to work towards a big bad every season for a reason....oh right,Buffy's a Superhero story, isn't? It's kind of like Blade only... it's like Blade.
I think the realism is what makes the show. I mean they make jokes about saving the world and then going to the mall. Or when Buffys mom died the acting was so genuine (Oh my god that episode is literally the definition of heartbreak)
Listen kids.. I owned this on VHS tape box sets back in 1996-2002 ! I’ve watched them all more times than I’m willing to admit 😂 I was obsessed with it back in the day.. I was a early teen and wore leather everywhere thinking I was Buffy 😆
you just pin pointed exactly what I love about this show. the characters are realistic. they have real people problems and they always feel like humans that make mistakes. and they grow and change. its just really relatable.
@@zoesmith12 Yeah it was one of THE shows back then! I loved the characters and the universe around them! Also it is unbelievable how good the characters evolved and how new characters were introduced!
Buffy is one of the best tv series ever. If there's a Buffy fan who hasn't done so yet, I strongly recommend you check out Passion of the Nerd's channel. If you're planning a re-watch, you can easily skip the first season by watching his Buffy Guide. It's excellent.

You just don t understand that everything you think is old cliché comes from...well, old tv shows. Buffy was incredibly modern and revolutionary for the 90', it s just useless to watch it now if you don t accept the fact this show is OLD.
I agree with you, but season one was still just OK, cept maybe for one or two good episodes. Season 2 was better and the towards the end of season 2 was where it hit it's stride and became great.
Buffy was never “cheesy,” it was metaphorical. It explored the world of a young woman going through her teenage years, who had an immense amount of responsibility on her hands. From the very beginning the primary protagonist, Buffy, always had to consider whether she’d take her slayer responsibilities over her social ones. However, as the series progressed, she soon began to realize that there were more things that were crucial in life. You see, in nearly every episode the gang would meet a new antagonist, who served as a sort of archetype (something beyond what seems to be their purpose) and typically it would deal with the social issues that permeate a teenager’s life. And that my friend is why Buffy had tremendous success.
season 1 WAS cheesey.... it was derived from old movies.... season 7 was rubbish. The in between was good but to be honest much as I loved the show the social commentary was also stupid since nust about everyone behaved in atrocious ways with little to no suffering for their poor choices. Williw kills people, angel turns creepy serial killer, faith goes gangsta, giles did some questionable things, spike murdered a ton of people and there were no consequences to speak of for any of them. I loved the show but its messages were at best mixed and since Joss turned out to be a sex creeper aswell I have to look back with mixed feelings on what it was actually about
Pool White What do you mean there were no consequences? All of the consequences were personal, not social. Angel and Spike pay for their sins plenty when they have souls, faith eventually realizes that "going gangsta" made her miserable and alone, Giles is atoning by helping Buffy, and Willow had to deal with the burden of losing people she loved because of her actions (namely the addiction to magic).
The 1st season of Buffy is really bad but I promise by the end of season 2 it'll become your favorite show. Buffy is truly one of the greatest shows of all time. I don't think people realize how influential it was for both tv and society.
totally agree when i rewatched it, I thought it teaches u about life, its very adulty in ways where u would think its more for the younger audience. Very underrated.
The first season is only bad in comparison with how amazing the show becomes later on. Compared to most TV shows even the first season of Buffy is still pretty darn good.
BUFFY IS THE MOST EPIC, ICONIC, WELL PACED, AWESOMELY LAYERED AND HAD THE BEST CHARACTER ARCHS OF LIKE ANY SHOW OF ALL TIME AND IF YOU DONT GET TO AT LEAST SEASON 4 THEN YOU HAVENT EXPERIENCED *BUFFY* also the character building of spike is my favorite thing from buffy like season 4-6 for him were so AMAZING OMG ADKFJKSJF
They still hold one of the best dialogs, sense of humor up to date. They way they go from humor do scary, real life issues still amazes me. I was a teenager when Buffy was airing and I remember how into it I was. Now I’m rewatching everything. One of the best shows I’ve watched.
Willow - one of the cutest and goodest characters at the same time with one of the best character arcs in all of 90s entertainment... Oh, my sweet Willow... =D
jeff the accountant I always hated angel as a character so I could never get into the show. Firefly should have had at least as many seasons as Buffy tho, that movie was not a satisfactory end. :(
MiKey MoonShine, actually by not watching Angel you're missing out on A LOT. Some Buffy characters that left in season 4 get major character developments and story arcs on Angel (Cordelia, for instance). Also, many amazing characters (some are my favourites not only from the Buffyverse, but from anything i ever watched) get introduced. The big bad is way more serious than the Buffy ones, the storylines are funnier and darker than the Buffy ones. Also, theres this whole peaceful karaoke bar for demons. And more character deaths. Even though Angel isn't my favourite character at all, i still consider his show much stronger and better then Buffy. Its more mature, more fun, more tragic and more interesting. But just like in Buffy, you have to survive through season 1 to get to the good stuff.
MiKey MoonShine still missing out on a lot though. Cordelia. Hilarious and tragic plots. The flashbacks (especially the one that changes the China scene in "Fool for love" completely). Spike. And much more. P.S I love when some characters die because that actually makes you worry for them. Makes it unpredictable to watch. Not like most shows nowadays do: "oh we're not gonna kill any main characters because we're too scared to traumatise someone, but if we do kill someone we'll definitely bring them back next season!"
Damn, I loved the early episodes/seasons. I disliked Xenas daughter though 🤔 and also didn't like how they removed the male comic relief, after Xena and Gabriella were frozen and he got old
I graduated high school in 2000. The 90's sure were some times. There are parts of it that I miss, and parts that I wish would hurl themselves into the temporal shredder. Ah, James Spader. *happy sigh* Daniel Jackson, my beloveds. He can still call me any day.
it was a show done on the WB network for teen girls alongside stuff like Charmed. If grown men thought it was the greatest thing ever, then they have an issue. The writing was always childish to me. The characterization, everything.
At least to me, Buffy started the trend of falling for vampires, but she had a heart and her story with Angel was the last truly tragic love story to grace the screens (my second favorite show ever). How someone can like empty Bella? Edit: I know there were books such as Vampire Diaries and Vampire Academy, but I knew about them because of Buffy.
I was too young to see it on tv. So i only saw it when i binged it a few years ago and it was like having a huge piece of the puzzle filled in as far as lore, tropes and cultural references. Realizing so many books were loose fanfiction spun my head.
Buffy was an awesome show, although it became the thing it was parodying towards its final seasons and took itself way to seriously by the end. Plus Whedon has some questionable choices when it comes to the portrayal of women. I think nearly every female in this show was bi coz guys in general find that hot, and not because he was being edgy and being a male feminist.
Lol, I don't know many guys that were into Buffy back in the day, so no, having a lesbian couple on the show was definitely a nod to the women and girls that watched the show.
Yeah, Joss Whedon makes a lot of bad choices when it comes to women (and especially minority and LGBT characters). So it's weird that Buffy ended up being a lightning in a bottle for female characters. For instance, Buffy, Willow, and Faith are considered some of the greatest female characters of all time.
All right, I've just encountered this guy's channel for the first time, and now I want to see him cover, if no other part of Buffy, the Halloween episodes each season. Just those. And maybe the one where she's in a hospital and a monster is killing kids.
A lot of popular teen shows from the 90s/early 2000s started out cookie-cutter for the first season, but then came into their own mid-second season. I think that's what happened to Buffy, Smallville, etc.
@@MiaRosenbloom Similar thing with webcomics taking a while to really find their legs. Most of the awesome webcomics I enjoy regularly started off with the most amateurish art and storytelling and it took them a couple years before they got good enough to recommend. Any time you happen across a webcomic whose beginning looks shaky, compare the first page with the current/latest page. And if it looks good and you really can't sit through the opening bad, then skip forward a year or two, start reading, and see if you get hooked enough to go back and see the origins.
You really can't get a sense of what/who Buffy The Vampire Slayer really is until you get to season 2. I appreciate 1 for what it is now, after having seen the whole series, but the first time through it SEEMS vapid. But anyone I've recommended the show to has fallen in love with it. It has heart but it also actually was well written and executed. It's consistently regarded as one of the major influences on modern TV.
Friends, LOST, Dawson's Creek, The Sopranos, Cheers, etc ... influenced way much more than Buffy, because those shows got a worldwide success. Buffy didn't. Even thou i love Buffy and Sarah, this show had many mistakes in its developement. Many filler episodes and very bad done monsters. The childish way to represent the supernatural world was poorly written. Not even TVD was that. By the way, i watched The Vampire Diaries (which is also very great) and It's probably the next cult vampire show on TV.
Joey Peppers Actually the supernatural world as it is depicted is one of the best I’ve ever seen, much more interesting than the TVD. And Buffy paved the way for future shows, that’s literally a fact not my opinion. Watch Buffy references in TV and you’ll see what I mean, shows as big as the Simpson’s and Will and Grace have referenced it
@@jonanpeppers6448 Without BtVS, you wouldn't have had LOST, you wouldn't have had The Walking Dead. Hell, you likely wouldn't have had New Who. Filler episodes were a necessity for shows back in the day, as seasons were generally longer. Additionally, filler episodes allowed for character examinations, as well as light-hearted breaks between the heavy episodes. Of course there were mistakes. That's part of life. It happens. It helped, IMO, because it reminded us that the characters and the world in which they live wasn't perfect. The supernatural element of the show was all metaphors for growing up, and the troubles along the way. And finally, none of the shows you mentioned have college courses dedicated to them. Buffy does.
Ok Karen. The first season is constantly rated mid compared to later seasons and normally only outranks really bad seasons or simply is pushed up on lists “bc it started the series”. Buffy is a show that tackles misogynistic ideals since it started so get over it 😹
You were clearly not a teen in the 90s. Of course it's cheesy. Lol I am glad you like it and I'm relieved the irony didn't go over your head. I edited this comment 3 times while watching this video. The rough drafts were sassy. I am a huge Buffy fan.
Funny, the two best teen shows to me of all time: Buffy and Smallville. Both of them were cheesy as hell, but was all about those character moments, development, etc. I guess it goes to show that cheese isn't necessarily all that bad if you have the things more important with it. Now days, people think seriousness all the time works better, cutting out all the cheese - and now without the more important things, it just gets boring and dumb, compared to cheesy dumb. Which I think is a very interesting distinction.
Isn't Alex around 20-30? Maybe he just wasnt into tv shows back then? I barely remember Buffy & Charmed, mostly remember Smallville and Gilmore Girls. But my sis ( it seems ) never missed a season when it gets aired. :D
Buffy was the best show ever, honesty still one of my favorites. She always displayed integrity, courage and loyalty. More shows need to focus on strong women, instead of reality/designer/bachelorette bullsh-t. As a fictional character Buffy is a positive role model. Which is more than I can say for most television shows.
I agree. But I think what made Buffy a positive role model is something you didn't touch on. Buffy learned and grew over time. She made mistakes, admitted her mistakes and changed in order to become a better adult. Almost no female characters actually do that in today's movies or shows. Even the "strong female characters" just arrive perfect, on day one they can do absolutely everything, without any hint they might fail. I guess studios think these impossibly perfect women are symbols of female empowerment or something, but honestly what kind of a role model is that? No one wants to be told they're expected to get everything right all at once, they want some one flawed who they can relate to, who eventually overcomes those flaws. That's what was wrong with Rey and live action Mulan etc...
Season 1 isn’t that good and that popular girl is our lord and savior Cordelia and she does become nicer throughout the show. And the guy was killed by Darla a vampire that was showed in the first minutes of the first episode?? How could you miss it??
Plus, cordelia's redemptive arc continues on 'Angel' when he - Angel - spins off and get's his own show. I mean that must have been pretty scandalous? The mean girl spinoff with the designated hot broody dude and becoming a better person.
Yeah, i don't remember watching 'Angel' in full but they did, and didn't she get promoted by the higher powers or something? Plus did you know Buffy continues in comic form and is up to season 12?
OMWF, absolutely amazing as it is, doesn't work as well out of context. It matters in the context of the show so very much, both from what came before and what comes after, that the best way to appreciate OMWF is to watch the whole show.

Xander ain't no skater. That was the last time you see him stepping on a skateboard XD
Great point. That skater opening is random in retrospect. Xander was later shown to have a love for comic books, but he had zero friends with the same interest. It was always strange that he never had any male friends.
@@Nepthu He did have a male friend... Jesse.
He does skate after that but very rarely tbh

"What? The popular girl isn't very nice?"
Of course the popular girl isn't very nice. It's the 90s.
Audrey Moran So was I
This was the start of cliche
But popular girls are soooo popular.
If you continue to watch the show and on to Angel she actually has an amazing character arc and becomes one fo my favorite characters. This “mean girl” has a lot more to offer than meets the eye!
Everybody's gay, Kimmy
the character development in buffy was phenomenal and the issues they dealt with the metaphors extremely well done
I attempted to watch Buffy twice. The first time i could not get through the first season. I gave it another chance and finished the whole show. Best choice I've ever made.
First season was the worst by far.
The seventh and sixth seasons were *really* bad. Joss had some poor directing choices, but seasons 2 and 3 and 5 were by far the best of the series.
The first season is a little janky, but it was still finding itself and it has a nice 90’s cheese to it.
Truer words have never been said
Watch the whole series and you will make another Buffy video titled, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the best show in the world. A lot."
Ooihhhh, see what you did there 😢💔
Actually it was pretty annoying
I'm betting that if the Winchesters rolled into town, they would have solved a majority of their problems in a few episodes rather than a few seasons
@@axelwulf6220 Yeah, no. Buffy is the best TV show ever made in my opinion. Supernatural is a good show, but Sam and Dean got nothing on Buffy. Regardless, the
Buffyverse and the Supernaturalverse (is their a better name for it?) are so different that it is all but impossible to predict how either set of characters would do in the others
universe.
Maya Lackman
Sam and Dean actually have more experience with the same shit Buffy fights
Where she started in high school, they started in when Sam was still in diapers and Dean was about to start first grade
They had formal training in hand-to-hand combat, marksmanship, and studied occult lore
Buffy was pretty much chosen to be a Slayer and I felt that she didn't exactly "earn" her title as it was just given to her
Sam was chosen too, but for a much darker, and much more deranged reason
Now I've been following these two for a long time, a problem comes up, they try to figure out what the Hell it is, and how to kill it
BAM
Problem solved in two episodes or less
Unless it's an overarching plot, that spans a season or three, but it's meant to be that way
Heaven hates them
Hell can't contain them
@@axelwulf6220 I've watched all of Buffy, and 13 seasons of Supernatural. Buffy earned her title. She was chosen, yes. But then she was chosen because she was the best out of
every girl in the whole world. It's not like just a random girl was chosen. How many hundreds of millions of eligible girls were there that could have been chosen? Only the best
was.
And if we're talking about
what makes for a good show, that depends on personal taste. Personally, I can't stand stories where the main character is chosen for a dark/deranged reason. I love stories
where the main character is a paragon of virtue and chosen for a holy mission.
Yes, and having her end up on Angel did a ton more for her character than this show ever did!
@@christianhardtofind6349 I actually preferred her on Buffy.

Tariq Thomas Wynonna Earp lives up to the buffy legacy in my opinion.
ParaMC Sam yesssssss. Except Wynonna is slightly more cooler. And waverly is also a better willow but a missing Xander is disappointing. Have you seen season 3 yet? The first episode aired today, I think.
You can’t blame them. Every story is derivative in some way. What you’re seeing is Buffy’s influence.
The Flash may be influenced by Buffy in its CWness but that also in turn shows how Buffy was influenced by comics. It was structured to work towards a big bad every season for a reason....oh right,Buffy's a Superhero story, isn't? It's kind of like Blade only... it's like Blade.
Jessica Jones is what a Faith follow up could have been. I see a lot of similarities between her and what Faith becomes in the comics.
Buffy is actually one thing that u need to keep watching
I think the realism is what makes the show. I mean they make jokes about saving the world and then going to the mall. Or when Buffys mom died the acting was so genuine (Oh my god that episode is literally the definition of heartbreak)

the acting in that episode is off the chart , SMG kills it. The use of no music etc makes it feel so real.

Once again, it was a movie first, and that sums it up except that it is HILARIOUS!! ❤
season 1 WAS cheesey.... it was derived from old movies.... season 7 was rubbish.
Buffy is my favorite show. It has a great metaphor, amazing writing and plots and characters.

Kristina Joy I always hated Joss's need to kill off characters for shock value.
I'm still pissed about what happened with Tara. :/
Not like most shows nowadays do: "oh we're not gonna kill any main characters because we're too scared to traumatise someone, but if we do kill someone we'll definitely bring them back next season!"
...okay now do Xena: Warrior Princess
Bri you deserve more upvotes
Yeeeeessssss
*_YES!!!_* I watched Xena religiously when I was a kid! Love that show! But I have no idea how well it's held up since then.
Damn, I loved the early episodes/seasons. I disliked Xenas daughter though 🤔 and also didn't like how they removed the male comic relief, after Xena and Gabriella were frozen and he got old
Yaaaaaaaas!! I fucking LOVED it as a child
Buffy The Vampire Slayer became increasingly entertaining over time, sometimes having brief moments of extreme brilliance.
I graduated high school in 2000. The 90's sure were some times. There are parts of it that I miss, and parts that I wish would hurl themselves into the temporal shredder.
Ah, James Spader. *happy sigh* Daniel Jackson, my beloveds. He can still call me any day.
Man I’m studying for exams and now I want to rewatch buffy
Lucia Fiorini me too! I loved the show
Omg teacher introduced this show to us. We watched the entire show until the end of the school year.
Omg lucky
buffy was the best supernatural tv show
*is
Buffy and Charmed.
(The original one that is. The one with Phebe, Piper and Prue.)
Charmed was my fucking JAM!
for immature people
it was a show done on the WB network for teen girls alongside stuff like Charmed.
Sooo many guys I knew had posters of Buffy, it appealed to everyone
Yeah, Joss Whedon makes a lot of bad choices when it comes to women (and especially minority and LGBT characters). So it's weird that Buffy ended up being a lightning in a bottle for female characters. For instance, Buffy, Willow, and Faith are considered some of the greatest female characters of all time.
I'm so confused
Mysterious Middle East I heard they're planning on rebooting Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Season 1 is a little rough, James Masters come in Season 2 as Spike and takes Buffy to a whole new level
Malia Ferry yessssss , even though I watched the show more than 10 years ago , but I do remember this
Picky picky, this is just the 1st season, stand alone/filler episodes like Hush make it stand out way above most.
Hush was great because it was Joss Whedon's way of thumbing his nose at the critics who said his plots rely way too much on dialogue.
agree not to mention Halloween! And how could he forget about angel.....
I’ve seen this show and rewatched it more than I can count and it still stands better than most modern shows.
Joey Peppers
Actually the supernatural world as it is depicted is one of the best I’ve ever seen, much more interesting than the TVD.
Buffy does.
Joey Peppers you’re everywhere shut up
Buffy and Charmed is the freaking shit and I’m 13. I love old shows.
It doesn't matter. Alex doesn't watch the shows he jokes to. It's only to get viewers and subscribers.
@@xoxarily They aren't that old. I'm 13 too.
“Unleash the knowledge”
-my new favorite quote 😂
Buffy is and always will be awesome. All the characters were awesome, Willow, Cordelia, Xander, Spike. Even the spin off Angel was good.
As well as Faith, Angel and Giles
This this is the BEST SHOW EVER
it sure is billy
it sure is B3
Oh, really????
*Angel theme plays*
Welcome to Joss Whedon's writing skills, especially dialogues. If you like those characters, go and try Firefly. You'll love that show.
GORRAM STRAIGHT.
Firefly sucked
I love Buffy, I'm literally wearing a Buffy shirt right now!
@@benjamin6194 you are correct, she did grow over time. Good point.
not every tv show has to be a role model for its viewers. jeez
"WHAAAAAA The popular girl isn't really nice. I'm shocked"
The mean girl spinoff with the designated hot broody dude and becoming a better person.
cheekybabe666 and they kind of had a thing for each other but a lot of stuff happened that got in the way of that and I’ll always be mad about it
Yeah, i don't remember watching 'Angel' in full but they did, and didn't she get promoted by the higher powers or something? Plus did you know Buffy continues in comic form and is up to season 12?
cheekybabe666 and that Buffy is with Spike on that comic... Pretty cool, yes
cheekybabe666 That was a scam that would eventually lead to Cordelia going into a coma and then dying
BUT a LOT of things happened in between that
The 90s were Friggin Awesome
"Hey, What's your name?!"😃
"dAaAaRrLaAaAa"🥴🥴🥴
i love that little "where is the attendance office" train whistle brain malfunction bit lol
no seriously i had to rewind it like 3 times i was crying
I know I see it and I crack up
It's 7:00 AM. I have been up this whole time and never slept yet. I never knew of the existence of this show until today. Why am I watching this?
Ni'Shana Shyree I'm in the same exact boat, man.
Watch the show. Trust me.
Hang in there. Season 2-6 is masterclass level shit.
Watch this show. You won’t regret.
Ni'Shana Shyree saaaammmeee
"Isn't that bizarre, aren't you just going *OoOoOhHhH* "
Buffy is everything. I want to see him react to some of the more iconic episodes. Like "Once more with feeling" or "Hush".
OMWF, absolutely amazing as it is, doesn't work as well out of context. It matters in the context of the show so very much, both from what came before and what comes after, that the best way to appreciate OMWF is to watch the whole show.
YAY FINALLY!!! I've been waiting for you to review this! No seriously, I'm geeking out. Buffy is awesome.
Buffy was like the best show ever
Have you ever seen "Why you Should Watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer" by PassionoftheNerd? 10/10 would reccomend
YES! I love TPN! Best Buffy guides on YT! :)
Jonesing for the next one of his. He's going full time in September.
Ibkbffjill730 is good for the comics if you're interested too.
Kat Welham I've been dying for a new one too! And I have yet to read the comics, but it's on my list because I'm a die-hard Buffy and Angel fan for the TV shows
Spike going over to Buffy's house and crying on her mother's shoulder because his girlfriend left him. "She left me for a chaos demon! They're all antlers!"😂😂
Buffy is the perfect tv show! There's a reason its hailed as one of the greatest of all-time and is studied at the Ivy League level! It's a gorgeous show---flaws and all

But dont you dare to bash Buffy
You mean Fluffy?
Sxbrinx me too I love buffy
I hated her,i liked Xander tho..but actress who played her...pure perfection.
he didn't bash it
The pilot actually is really damn cringey though. Like, I'm sure it was cool in the 90s, but watching it today makes you realize it hasn't aged well.
