He was running 2nd until 4 laps to go. If that grommet didn't fail, he would have finished 2nd in the 125. That would have put him 4th or 6th in the 2007 Daytona 500 at 72.

Superspeedways have always been a separate license standard from the other tracks. That on top of jumping right into cup and not having recent racing seat time gave NASCAR enough to say no. Not saying an agree perse, but I can understand it. Every other example I’ve seen people come up with of older drivers either had recent activity and/or were not running a superspeedway in Cup. @@paulwest4755 Jr. is 15 years younger, still has competed semi regularly, and has shown in those starts he's not a moving road block. So yes, we know why Jr. would be allowed to race.
Or were you hinting at some sort of conspiracy theory?
He ran an xfinity race last year and was very competitive And several late models….. not the same thing
Bring back Mike Wallace 😊😊😊!!!
Good stuff,kenny is great...nice show,thank you.
Kenny Wallace is the man, Kenny when are You and Schrader going to come back to Longdale Speedway in Oklahoma? Please Please Please
Let’s look at the opposite spectrum. How does NASCAR approve the young, inexperienced drivers coming into Trucks and Infinity series. Mike would understand Daytona better than a young inexperienced drivers.
Yep
Wallace Brothers Racing... Would love to see all of you slinging some dirt or running the Cars tour together.
I think Rusty's done completely racing
Nascar will probably come out with a max age rule next.
I have mixed feelings on that, on one hand how many 60+ years are gonna try to qualify for a Cup race, on the other, older ya get the more injury prone you are...nobody wants to see an old beloved racer come out of retirement and get hurt in a crash.
This is why we need Pre-Season testing at Daytona back. If he had the opportunity to go out there and run some laps, then the yes or no call could've been made.
Hey Nascar ,ever wondered why I don't watch anymore ???!!!
It's sad that NASCAR has disqualified Mike Wallace from driving in the Daytona 500.
I am sure that there is more to this than we are hearing right now.
They should have told Mike that they weren't going to let him race during their first conversation.
Exactly!
Nascorp dropped the ball. It’s a management problem. It’s all a management problem.
Arca #31 ride is open for the ARCA Daytona 200 on FOX. In case that would help.
Shepard was 77 in NASCAR Xfinity
The arrogance of the sanctioning body to DQ a team before attempting to qualify is absurd.
That’s NasCrap … but they will give a spot to F1 drivers … bullshit
Because they are racing. Mike hasn't been up to speed in a race for a while. This is like the Morgan Shepherd rule in New Hampshire 10 years ago. I remember Joey Logano was pissed off because Shepherd was too slow.
What a shame, hope Mike considers running some local stuff with you! Maybe get him on Iracing with a beer in hand, that always works too.
Ovechecin the capitals in hockey, unbelievable player. We can all do what we want! Maybe try ARCA. Show them all.
Another horrible NASCAR decision, something they are consistently excellent at, I wish Michael Jordan and FRB every success in their pursuit of reality.
If he hasnt driven for years then hes no where near up to speed on the new equipment. It's likely a safety decision and business decision than a personal one.
Agree. Same
@ he drove in 2020 at Indy is an excellent plate driver, but Helio gets a pass having never sat his ass in a cup car??? Makes sense to me🤷♂️
It's not a horrible decision, it's one made about safety - even keeping Mike safe from himself, not to mention all the other competitors. You'd come to the same conclusion if you were a high-level NASCAR guy.
@ sorry, many have driven at older ages while accomplishing far less than Mike, I would say Helio will be a far larger concern and weapon. It is all agenda’s and politics these days
NASCAR let James Hylton try to qualify for the 500 in 2007 when he was 70.
Mark Thompson is the oldest NASCAR driver to start the Daytona 500. He competed in the 2018 Daytona 500 at the age of 66, setting a record as the oldest driver to attempt the race. Thompson finished the race in 22nd place.
Sounds like discrimination
It's not discrimination It's a safety thing and the lack of experience. You're going to get f****** educated and understand he's 65 years old He's never driven the next gen And no it doesn't drive anything like the old cars what he's used to and he hasn't even raced anything really In over 5 years
Kenny nailed it. Motorcycle racing is the same way when you go inactive.
My first nascar race was in 1973. This is the last straw
Im fucking DONE !!!!
Bye
Let's get somebody to put brother Mike in a super late model somewhere. 💪🇺🇸💪
Two years ago, Jacque Villeneuve with very limited stock car experience was allowed to race in Daytona 500 who hadn’t started a NASCAR sanctioned race since 2012. “Inactive” is the stupidest excuse EVER! Elton Sawyer needs to be fired
Why is it ok for someone who has NEVER raced NASCAR before guaranteed a spot.. because it brings in more money🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Kenny you should take mikes spot in the Daytona 500
This says more about NASCAR than it does Mike Wallace. Mike is one of the best super speedway drivers on the circuit! Bad decision IMO.
How disappointing for Mike, his family and fans. Please don't be embarrassed, Mike. Hang in there !
Would they deny Richard Petty if wanted to race in the Daytona 500???
Oh my god of course. You’re joking right? An 87 year old man that last raced 32 years ago? Hell no. Richard retired forever.
@ I was being facetious. Sorry. 🥸
Absolutely ridiculous, of course they wouldn't let him race.
Kenny let Mike know everything happens for a reason . There will be some kind of opportunity for Mike . I would love to see him have a television opportunity. 😊❤
HEY WALLACE, bring Your Badass A Mod to longdale , Oklahoma
They didn’t disqualify someone who didn’t even get in the car. They deemed him “uneligible”
I remember in 2007 when James Hylton ALMOST made the Daytona 500, except the grommet for the clutch rod came apart and locked up his clutch (as per Hylton himself) with 4 laps to go. He was running 2nd until 4 laps to go. If that grommet didn't fail, he would have finished 2nd in the 125. That would have put him 4th or 6th in the 2007 Daytona 500 at 72.
Why did it take a couple of weeks for the NASCAR Competition Director to hear about this ?
I remember when James Hilton ran after being out of NASCAR for years. I get part of why they might require some demonstration of ability, but we all know that it's going to come back to him quickly.
If Dale JR had been inactive for 5+ years and wanted to race Daytona would He have gotten the same answer???....yeah... Let Him race NASCAR !!!
Elton Sawyer was a back marker when he used to run!!!
Kenny I hate it for Mike
Wtf Nascar! I understand the issue with a rookie but a veteran driver? If he shows the ability to be competitive and comfortable in the car and isn't a danger to others then let him run! Thanks nascar for proving to me it's all about the Benjamin. Corporate BS
Remember when DEI in NASCAR meant Dale Earnhardt Incorporated?
I do those were the good old days...Theresa shouldn't sued whoever come up with the leftist version.
I am so sorry to hear the news about Mike stay positive maybe one of car owner can call and talk to NASCAR and maybe get this overturn where your brother can race the Daytona 500. Not sure if that would work
I am appalled by this. Mike should at least be able to run a truck race
I know that he is still capable of racing in the truck series for 4 or 5 races a year
I know that some of the younger drivers are there because they bring money to the table and have a limited amount of experience
But if he’s also not being given parameters on what he needs to do to get back on the grid, that’s total BS.
Grab that ride Herm, keep the Wallace name in the race.
They're letting Cody Ware race, but not Mike Wallace, let that sink in
Something more than that has to be something more to the story
They’re wrong if they think Mike couldn’t at least be safe out there. They also created this situation by not having any real form of testing, practice, or “speed weeks”.
Yep, bring practice back! Doesn't matter if fans watch or not it's not for us it's for the teams to get more time on track to fine tune car setups.
Raw deal for Mike. And to say he is DQ'd from any NASCAR race is a real raw deal. They should get him down there and let him prove his worth. Tell Mike to hold his head high. Nothing to be embarrassed about.
You know, if the reason or reasons Mike was given to be disqualified aren't in the nascar rule book, I'd be getting me a lawyer. Discrimination
Love Mike no matter what ❤
Wasn't Mike Wallace permanently suspended at one time for something he said...??! I vaguely remember something like that... Could this be a repercussion from that...
I bet if a large sponsor like Coca-Cola came in there wouldn’t even question.
Wait Kenny, Helio Castroneves who has NEVER started a truck, busch or a cup race ever isn’t only approved but is automatically locked into the field. In 2022, Jacques Villeneuve who hadn’t attempted a cup race since 2012 was automatically approved to race in the Daytona 500. And just two years ago Travis Pastrana was allowed in the Daytona 500 when his last busch start was 9 years prior. I could go on and on with examples but this is absolutely BS
More of Nascars B.S. my first thought was can you imagine what Mike Wallace running in some Truck Series races would do for their tv ratings. We know the man can drive.
1 more reason why I haven't watch a Nascar race for 5-6 years. They lost their fan base.
Mike wasn't bringing enough sponsor money
How did Travis Pastrana get a chance 🤔
Mike should be able to race he is a good driver.
Disappointed for Mike but they will allow people from other series who have never drove in NASCAR when he drove in 800? Mark Thompson was 66?
It doesn't have anything to do with if you're driven nascar it's about the size of the track
SMART MODIFIED SERIES.... would love to see Mike Wallace in a SMART car...
