I used to work on high roofs, my boss always asked us to use the body harness but never let us to hook it to the roof brackets, because we lost time hooking and unhooking it, so we had to woork unsecured all day in angled roofs 10+ stories high in Florida.
You could have reported your boss, that shit isn't even legal , I wouldn't let my boss play with my life just because he under estimated the time it takes to complete a job safely.

i cant see how you could build that system safely, even with a double lanyard it would be immpossible too navigate your way around with one of those uprights section in your hands you would have too stop ans lay it down every 8ft so you could hook on and off....
