Hi Amber, So talking about what we do to destash some of our knitted items. I live in a 55 and older development. Every year for the past 50 years (I have not lived here that long, :) ) but the residence every year have put on two fundraisers for our local fire department and all the proceeds go to them. One is held in the spring and one in winter. I am able to have a table, I bring my mannequin and some other props, and I sell my items for a great cause. Last year was my first year and my sales brought in over $560.00. Besides my already knitted items, cardigans, shawls, poncho, tams, etc. I knit all year on baby and children items using yarn from my stash. Some of the knits were washable and some had to be hand washed, but I noted that on the sales tag and people cleaned me out. It was so fun talking to people and seeing their excitement to purchase handmade Christmas gifts that I am doing it again this year. I have 2 1/2 months until our winter sale in Nov. I look forward to hearing what you decide to do with your items. :)

I loved this episode, you were so spontaneous and sincere, just very human. No need to be perfect. We all are lazy or forgetful about lots of things, but only brave people admit it. Go girl!!! You are inspiring!!!! ❤❤😊😊

Wow the Ruska sweater is so beautiful. I don’t know if it’s feasible but maybe try to steek it and transform it into a cardigan?

Or shorten the body (do ribbing right after the colorwork).. and wear it oversized..

You should just either sell finish and sell the Ruska or try to slightly felt it. I did that with a Brooklyn tweed colorwork sweater that turned out too big and the very slight felting made it perfect. Also, it really doesn't look that big. I've found that all over worsted colorwork kind of lays funny for a while until it forms to your body and then it drapes much better.

Hi Amber! I always enjoy your podcasts. I am echoing what so many others have said. The Marianna looks great on you - I think you should finish it. The Ruska is beautiful! Love the colors and all the colorwork. I don’t think it looks too big on you, just really cozy and oversized. If you really don’t want to keep it though, maybe you could finish it and gift it to someone you know? Can’t wait to hear what you decide to do.

The cowl is the Roadrunner. I have made several in different yarns and I'm in the process of making another for a Christmas gift. It is an easy knit, and the ladies I have gifted it to really liked it. You have given me the idea to pull out all my Wips and figure out what needs finish and what I need to frog. Thanks for another great podcast.

Hi Amber, about your question on making and giving shawls…..I too have made a lot and only wear a few. Since I crochet lap blankets for a hospice coordinator, I asked her if she could use the larger shawls I made. Yes she could, so I pulled them out and donated them with the lap blankets I had for her. I still have plenty that I don’t wear, maybe it’s because I don’t get dressed up anymore. It’s harder to gift them to friends who don’t wear them too. Also, knit picks Hawthorn yarn. I bought that once, don’t like it either. I went back to see what it was made of and it is highland wool, not merino. Guess I assumed all the fingering yarn was merino. Not making that mistake again. Thanks for sharing all your knits, it’s inspiring. I like the Yume a lot. Chris

It was fun to watch you go through all of your works in progress. It made me think about how many I may have forgotten about. I am currently knitting my first colourwork sweater which is bottom up and I am concerned it will be too big for me. I need to look through the pattern and double check my gauge. It is interesting that we get all excited at the beginning of a project then, for myself enthusiasm starts to wain. I usually have one pair of socks, one shawl and one sweater on my needles. I know for sure that I have two blankets in progress and a baby cardigan for the local neonatal intensive care unit. I need to get that finished as I only need to do half a button band. It's ridiculous that it's still a WIP! 🙄 My current shawl is the vertices unite by Stephen west and I am making the big one. I need to go places on my own in the winter or I won't wear it. My husband drives me to most places.

Hi Amber- I enjoyed seeing all your projects. The Maryanna sweater looks very nice on my screen. That gold in the color work is a great color on you and the gray is a nice neutral background that makes it pop. You might like it better once it is finished and you wear it a couple times. I just love the last color-work sweater you’re wearing as well as all your wipes which are quite far along. Keep trucking along and you’ll be done in no time except for the “pink color work sweater” definitely too big on you. The rule of thumb that I follow which is very hard sometimes but I keep with it is “no more than 5-6 wips going at a time”. When one is finished I then will cast on something in my queue. Good luck and can’t wait to see these finished❤

Love your podcast, used to live in NW PA so I feel your pain in the winter. Since we have moved to NC, I think I have only worn my winter coat 2-3 times each winter. Yippee! You are the second knitting podcast where the knitter says that she knits in church. I am just wondering if I could still pay attention or if I would have to work into it. I still need to start a vertices unite!!
    It's on my list!!
But.......I started "persici" by Brian Smith...it's kinda like a "dotted rays", but prettier.
I have several WIPs sitting also, for way too long, I DO like most of them too. I need to decide what to do. 🤷🏻‍♀️
You DID link the cord last time, I ordered and am waiting for it, it was suddenly low stock, everyone else must have had the same idea. 🤣
You could always do a knitted-on i-cord for continuity of the arm hole on that one top, but then again, you might still have to add a little to the top of the sleeve.
I was happy to hear you don't care for Hawthorne either, pretty colors, but a tad too "toothy" for my taste.
LOVE "Roadrunner", thanks to you I've made & gifted several!! Everyone loves it!!
You might not like the colors while you're working on that last sweater, but it looks great on you!!
Did you cut your hair?? I love that length on you. 😊

Gifting shawls and other projects: I agree that there are only a few people in my life that I regularly give knitted items, partly because I feel like I have to know someone really well to know what they like to wear (if any knitted things). I tend to store things that I'm not wearing so that I can take them to a gathering - like a friend's shower, or a friend's family gathering, and then I let people choose an item they want. I am always surprised at who likes what, and no one feels like they have to pretend they like or will wear something. I am fortunate enough that I can consider my yarn purchases "entertainment" (I get far more hours of enjoyment out of $60 of yarn than I would from spending that same amount on eating out, going to movies, or even driving to hikes!). There is also nothing wrong with selling the objects that you've made, either - especially if the entertainment funds in your budget are limited.
Loved seeing all your projects today! Glad that sharing them was helpful to you, too. =)

Some of my thoughts, opinions, questions (all with the best of intentions)
    - Yume, love it!!
    - I don’t mind the underarm of the Leela Top, it kind of matches the stitching below the underarm cast on.
    - Ruska - sooooo beautiful. It makes me sad to think it will be frogged. Do you think you could sell it ‘as is’ to someone who could finish and wear it?
    - Have you ever done a provisional cast on using barber cord? I haven’t yet knit a provisional cast on and watched a TH-cam on this with barber cord. I thought this would be wonderful to switch back to circular, but as I’m a novice, I don’t really know which would be best.
Thank you soooo much for your podcast. I always look forward to seeing you and your expertise 🤩

Your last colorwork sweater, the grey and goldish, I think you should finish that one and the coral. They look lovely on you. For your monthly blanket, set that aside and bring it out come next March and jump back in. The timing might help inspire. The blocks completed so far are gorgeous. You have a lot of knitting already done so it would be a shame not to finish them. The colorwork sweater of Jessica’s pattern, it would be a shame to unravel all that work if someone else could use it. It’s loose around the neck area but some people would love that. You could try to sell that along with some of your shawls and hats. I totally agree that we knit and knit and knit and we cannot use it all. I stockpile and then it depresses me and I go through and donate the stuff I really don’t want. I also know no one that uses shawls. Shawlettes are great because they wrap kind of like a scarf would so a perfect size. Good luck deciding. Just take one project at a time and dig in. You’ll be so happy you did. Love the podcast, not worried it was an hour. Can always pause and go back later. Content is important and it’s so nice seeing all the languishing wip’s and helps you feel better about them too.

I always love a WIP parade! What about finishing your Ruska and then selling it? It would make a beautiful Christmas gift for someone! Maybe you have a consignment store nearby, or even through an online marketplace buy/sell group? Then use the proceeds to replace the yarn and make yourself one that fits.

i think you should finish the Peace Fleece Colorwork sweater.....it is so beautiful! you put a lot of hours into it and it really doesn't look that bad. you could wear it when you take hikes or just sitting out on the porch in winter. I know it bothers you but can you maybe try to shrink it a bit - carefully. Or sell it....someone could finish it. just thoughts cause it is such a lot of work and it is really pretty.

You could always gift some of your knits to your viewers- just have them pay for shipping. Also all your tops are super cute- I want to try that remix yarn…

Thank you! Give the yarn a try. It's pretty reasonably priced, and I really like it for summer shirts. It's very cool wearing.

Thanks Amber.I recently started watching you. I was drawn in by your summer tops, which I am about to start the Anker Summer Tee.
I just wanted to comment that I love that last top you showed us. It fits so nice and the pattern is beautiful. I have a friend who uses this technique called duplicate stitching to add color and design to a project. What if you were to add a third color to bring the gold and grey together? Like maybe a rust or barn red? Just an idea but maybe would help you to like the top more. All the best. Judy

I have a petite kmitter book, Arctic Knits. Seeing your Sonder has inspired me to cast on one of her designs. What hss stoppedme is summer and I don't know if I havecsuitable yarn and my goal this yesr is to knit from stash and have succeeded so far. A petite knitter sweater may be a new year 2925 cast on.

Hi Amber. I'm not a big fan of the square needles, either. I tried them when I wanted to try the Addi click for interchangeable needles. I like that the click needles don't come unscrewed (every other kind I've tried does), but dragging the stitches over the join drives me completely bats. No, it really isn't that bad. It is actually pretty dang smooth. There is just something about it that feels icky to me.

Amber I really really enjoyed your I- forget- what- this- is podcast! I wish you lived on my road and we could knit together. I think we'd laugh a lot and maybe get some knitting done too.
I'm thinking , adjust the neckline somehow on the too- big sweater and use it as outerwear like a sweatshirt or coat. You could try to felt it slightly but then you might not be happy with the arms. Or maybe someone would love to have it and also finish it. I'll stay tuned for an update!

Oooo….love the Marianna sweater. I see what you mean about the color play though. Depending on how much of the gold color you have, could you reverse the colors after the yoke…maybe after splitting for the body and sleeves so the gold is on the bottom? 🤔

Maybe if you rip the Ruska back as far as the end of the colorwork and then do the ribbing it wont look too big? Like a semi cropped sweater to throw on over dresses?

    1. Finish your husband’s sock. 2. Finish the colorwork sweater and gift it. 3. My mitered square blanket became a shawl, and I love wearing shawls. Thanks for sharing.
