I always thought that the song Ven-e Ven-o Ven-a explained Yogi’s reason for not making his feelings clear to Cindy well. In the song it mentions that he’s a shy guy who was a little oblivious and who felt meek when it came to admitting his true feelings for her. And with Cindy being so aggressive in her attempts to win his heart, that only made him more scared and nervous. So with her being gone in this film, it finally gave him room to open-up and realize his true feelings for her.
Animat if the animation is "a lot more smooth than the TV show", it's because they had a budget. Look it up and you will find that a lot fantastic animators also worked on the show as well, including legendary character designer ED Benedict. A TV episode of Yogi bear cost roughly $4000 to produce in the 60s while this movie had a theatrical budget.
I always loved Yogi's Great Escape. That felt more like an cinematic movie than an extension of the show.
It was actually part of the Hanna-Barbera Superstars 10 Movies series that ran from September 20th, 1987 (starting with Yogi's Great Escape that you already mentioned) to November 20th, 1988 (ending with Yogi Bear and the Invasion of the Space Bears).
Another cartoon from this time period (or close to that time) that made that leap to big screen was Charlie Brown, most note worthy is Snoopy Come Home.
Yes 1969 to be exact was when A Boy Named Charlie Brown came out
Yes and I wish he would review all 3 of the old Peanuts Movies.
When I watched this movie during my childhood I always used to think that Mugger was one of Muttley's distant relatives since they were the same type of dog and are very similar.
Coraline!
From the small Novella from Neil Gaman, to the movie directed by Henry Selick. Don't worry, Animat, It's beautiful there. Oh, it's so beautiful.
Release Date: September 21, 1964!
JUne,1964. Daws Butler, Don Messick, Julie Bennett, Mel Blanc, J.P.O'Malley, Al Melvin, Howie Morris, and James Dartren., JUlie died of COVID 19 earlier//her Southern accent is similiar to Liz MacRae's "Ladyfish" in Warner Bros.'s "MR LIMEPT" flick! (and on several southern movie/raido belles...y'all!)
Ahh the classic cartoon movie. I always loved this movie since I was 5 years old, and still enjoy it today.
Well, at least it's not the live-action movie.
Agreed.
Awesome Productions it's bad enough it's getting a sequel.
Winner Star
Actually, I'm not sure it's actually happening anymore, the most recent information about it came out in 2012.
Winner Star wait what
Awesome Productions he put it at number 9 on his least of worst movies based on a cartoon
Also I have to say at least SpongeBob was more successful in live action in both of his movies.
Alan Oliva tell me about it I watch since I wad a little kid it a good movie
Alan Oliva I saw both movie's in theatres, which's crazy cool.
Crono Sapien I can the same, my grandma really enjoyed the 2nd in the theater.
I guess when Yogi learned Cindy was gone, he suddenly realized how much he really did love her. Sometimes, you never know whether you really like someone until they're gone.
Ooh! He's reviewing Coraline next!
Animated Antic What a coincidence. I just saw the movie the other day
I love that film as what is Henry doing now anyways?
It sounds like he doesn't like the movie.
YYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Coraline :)
Animated Antic Yes. I'm really excited.
After review: Oh... that's gonna be negative review of creppy movie I'm not sure to see this review
After looking at comment section: Oh... nevermind I watched this movie as a kid and I loved this SO MUCH
I love Hey There, It's Yogi Bear.
I predict a 7/10
I was right!
And oh boy Coraline is next. I love that movie.
Give Him SomeTimes To Talk About It!!!
An entire generation grew up saying "picnic" like "pic-a-nic" and I'm proud of that.
Thank you for reviewing this one. It is nice seeing reviews for lesser covered movies from good reviewers. It is also great to see animation itself being discussed in detail which is lacking in most reviews.
Coraline! The music really gives it away! The tune is to unique!!!!!
Rena Ryuugu What's the Song?
end credits-bruno coulais & the children's choir of nice
Yes!! Coraline!!
CORALINE!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!
At first I read your comment as cocaine lmao
YAASSSS! Coraline is next! I'm so excited, Coraline is one of my favorite movies ever!
I've been waiting for you to get to coraline forever! really looking forward to this!
Request: review a Man called Flintstone!
This was always one of my TOP favorite Hanna Barbera Theatrical Films that I really enjoyed the first time renting it on VHS to seeing it again on TV. I have always enjoyed Yogi Bear no matter how well the character is wrote for but yes this was one of best written script from an animated movie. There are LOTS out there they don't do them justice. Great movie and love all the characters in it. Hanna Barbera did it first and very glad happy they gave it their all.
Interesting that he's reviewed Hey There, It's Yogi Bear! considering that tomorrow Mr.Coat will be discussing which is worse: Jetsons: The Movie or Doug's 1st Movie?
On another note, awesome! Up next is Coraline! After this, he will have reviewed all of Laika's films thus far.
He Already Talked About The Jetsons Movie
I know; I'm referring to the fact that it's coincidental that AniMat talked about a Hanna Barbera property today and Mr.Coat will be talking about another one tomorrow.
Who??
Here's his channel. th-cam.com/channels/-pKfwaZysLoBNiDKty-MSg.html
Thanks
Man, I haven't seen this movie in years!
Was that a reference to Coraline or you hinting it's gonna be a bad review about Coraline? Confused me with the last few seconds of the video XD (I can hear the Coraline fans with their pitchforks marching here)
CORALINE! I LOVE THAT MOVIE SO MUCH! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Legit one of my top 10 favorite movies EVER. Yep it's Coraline. That music is WAY too unique.
Wow the credits are rolling oh wait now they are in another situation and the movie ended already
Quartzer What?
Story: 8/10
Animation: 7/10
Characters: 8.5/10
Appeal: 8.5/10
Pacing: 9/10
Originality:6.5/10
Hey There's It's Yogi Bear!
*8/10*
As "The Duke of Artz" this is one of my favorite Hanna Barbera animated movies
Some of the plot was also used in the Sesame Street movie Follow That Bird like The Sleaze Brothers
I had this on VHS as a kid and I loved it. Recently I acquired the DVD and saw it again for the first time in years. While I can see the flaws I didn't notice when I was a kid, I still really enjoyed this. The songs are as catchy as ever, although they do seem to come out of nowhere, but oh well. Plus it's great seeing all those legends of animation's names on the end credits which shows why it was so well animated whilst still being true to the HB style as you said. :D
This is one of my favorite movies. I'm always a big fan of Cindy Bear.
Way better than the jetsons movie by a long shot.
I used to watch this on Disney Channel, WAY back in the day.
Looks can be deceiving huh? Well I'm not excited to see the Coraline review if thats the case.
I just love this movie
Why hasn't Hanna Barbera's 50th Yabba Dabba Do Celebration been released digitally yet?
I Have No Clue.
It Should've Been Released On Video Or DVD Yet!!
Probably because some of the people in it would want residuals for being it.
Use Real English!!
@Sean Anderson I know that
hey there its yogi bear , is pretty much a terrific film
the songs work
the story is good
i like the love story between yogi and cindy bear, its very cute : )
Great analysis!! This was my favourite animated film ever
Never seen it.
I've been waiting SO long for him to review Coralline. Words can't describe how I feel right now!
Coraline...that movie gave me nightmares for days. O_O
You should do the Good, the Bad, and the Huckleberry Hound.
I’ve seen this and the other yogi bear movies multiple times .
I tend to yogi’s great escape better even if the cubs are never explained .and one does look a lot like Cindy . Also yogi and magical flight of spruce goose . Is probably my favorite because you get el kobon .
Coraline is My Favourite Movie of 2009
7/10? Eyy...That's pretty good.
This is certainly better than the live-action Yogi Bear movie!
Hey, hey, hey!
The next review is Coralline! Yes finally
Luigi Marinus 2 because at the end of the video the song that was playing was from Coralline
Yes! Coraline! He is going to review it! I'm really excited it and hope it gets the Seal of Approval! I love Coraline! It's my favorite!
The only thing that distracts me about the songs is that different people do Yogi, Boo Boo and Cindy's singing voices; although I guess I can understand why James Darren sings "Ven-e, Ven-o, Ven-a" because that one's supposed to be more romantic.
Yay! Coraline's next! Hey Animat, since Halloween is coming soon, are you going to do top ten animated Halloween movies or do animated Halloween movie reviews?
Can't wait for the next one, Coraline is just simply an awesome movie, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
I can't believe I don't already have this in my own collection…
I used to watch this movie with my brother on the old VHS all day (in czech dub, cuz I'm Czech, duh). We were quoting this movie all day and our dad occasionally joined us. I can't be harsh on this movie, it's just a big part of my childhood.
Now that you've done this film I'm hoping you do another film you mentioned in the Hanna-Barbera Animation Lookback particularly Tom & Jerry: The Movie. I would argue 1969 was the end of the Golden Age of animation since that's when I believe the FCC stopped violence in cartoons and also they ended the Looney Tunes shorts.
Sam Feldstein the 1990s one that killed Tom and Jerry?
Yep exactly
Sam Feldstein What predictions would you say he give it? 3/10? Lol I actually wanna know his thoughts.
I haven't seen this movie in a long time I love this old cartoons like this 😊
Animat's 61st Classic Review.
The 2010 movie gets a bad rep to me. I actually enjoy it because of how true it stays to the characters of Yogi and Boo-Boo
I've gotten nostalgia tears again
So It Happen The 1st Time??
Dexter The Nostalgia Toonster yeah
Bears singing about St. Louis? I'm in.
I love this film
He's reviewing Coraline!
Suggestion: Animat Reviews: The Adventures Of Elmo In Grouchland.
I remember this I loved it
Hey, Mat! I want you to have your voice in a kart racing game starring TH-camrs
So, Nightmare Fuel: The Movie is coming next?
One of my dad's favorite cartoons
CORALINE!
Since you did Jetsons the Movie and Hey There it’s Yogi Bear I would love to see you do Tom and Jerry the Movie and The Man Called Flintstone since the former is the other hated Hanna Barbera movie and the latter is the other beloved Hanna Barbera movie
Could you please do a classic review of "The Incredible Mr. Limpet?"
I Have That Film Either On Video And/Or DVD!!!!
Coraline is next
Ah, Yogi...one of the fondest of my memories of watching Cartoon Network in its heyday.
When is Hanna-Barbara finally going to allow CN to show its cartoons on the network again
Can you review The Wild Thornberrys Movie? Or would films based on TV have to be based of shows you're familiar with?
My reaction to the next review:
Oh my God! Oh my God! Yeeeeeeeeeees!!!!!!!!
My favorite aninated movie ever!
Kobe Marion Yes, its majestic ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
here's films highly recommend Animat to review

Kieran Stark, what makes you think you know the scores and if you know, give reasons
Coraline is next! Yeah!
I watched this movie yesterday and after seeing it really great watched after seeing it has made want to see Yogi and Boobo as fighter's in multiverses
For a second I thought this was the shitty live action film
Devin Henderson or a movie from the 90s
+Y4123 There's *no* Yo Yogi: The Movie boi.
Ha!!
I Doubt It!!!
YAY! Coraline's next!
Coraline is probably going to be a 9/10 review I would say.
Have you reviewed the Yogi Bear adaption from 2010? That one DEFINITELY needs to be reviewed (even if it's painfully bad).
HE'S REVIEWING CORALINE! AAHHHHHHHHHHH!
It's definitely one of my most favorite animated movies of all time. I've seen it like 50+ times. It's a genuine masterpiece and it just makes me entirely sad that Henry Sellick doesn't really make stop-motion movies anymore.
Imo the movie is even better than the book. Don't get me wrong Neil Gaiman crafted an amazing story, but Coraline in the book...she wasn't that great. She was essentially an Alice clone, while in the movie she's a lot more tomboyish and witty. Plus the movie added Wybey as well.
I'm just a sucker for fantasy stories of a young girl entering a creepy fantasy world, which's why I adored Fran Bow.
Yes Coraline is next!
Damn I used to watch this movie all the time as a kid. Also CORALINE IS NEXT!!!
CORALINE"S NEXT
I Hope That Coraline Gets a 10/10 or 8/10
Could you please do a classic review of "The Wild Thornberries Movie?" It's really emotional.
Kieran Stark That's a 6/10 and 17 points/30. But why would he give it that?
3:14 I felt that that was a good quality to the movie.
You should review an American tail
Yes, Coraline is next! :D
Dexter The Nostalgia Toonster No, they're not. You are spamming.
Kieran Stark How is the person saying "Coraline is next" spamming? Does spamming even have a meaning anymore?
Dexter The Nostalgia Toonster What?
Dexter The Nostalgia Toonster Let me explain. What they are doing is not spamming because it is not the same person saying the same thing.
@@jprpap4906 And that is not what I did
Shrek and the original Toy Story really need to be reviewed.
Coraline's next! I knew it!
hay there is Matty m
review the Ranma movie that eye of sol reviewed about a week ago.
Suggestion: Animat Reviews: The Powerpuff Girls Movie.
HECK YEAH!!!
I LOVED YOGI BEAR!!!
Coraline is next.....
