Once I caught a glimpse of the cover of Vol. 37 of the Vagabond Manga, and I was like- Mehhhh, what kind of Manga artist puts a real image on manga cover. That was My first impression on Vagabond. I didn't even know the name of that manga at that time. Months later when I finished Berserk, one of My friend suggested Me to read Vagabond. I was a bit hesitant at first due to My first impression. But after reading through few pages, the artwork dragged Me in. I was surprised how realistic the artwork was. Then as the journey of Musashi began I fell in love with the Manga. The character of Matahachi, Musashi, Kojiro; the philosophical aspects; the writing, everything was near perfect. I never expected anything will hit Me so hard after reading Berserk, but Vagabond did. To find yourself, to become a better person; Vagabond did put a mark on My life. It will remain My favorite Manga of all time.
Literal facts, I've read Vagabond countless times and never did I once have any issues with it whatsoever, not even a nitpick, perfect from beginning to "end", and even if it never ends it will probably still remain not only my favorite manga but also my favorite piece of art across any medium. Btw another manga which is also perfect in my eyes is Oyasumi PunPun, I highly recommend it if you've read works like Berserk and Vagabond because it's probably the closest manga to those two
@@ravenkesterson2124 well it got boring at times, the pacing was kinda slow aswell, don’t get me wrong it is good but the pacing can be kinda slow and i just wanted to read some other stuff
Why is there so many people that do not appreciete Vagabond in this comment section. Vagabond is a top tier manga alongside Berserk and Tokyo ghoul&Re. It has one of the best protagonists in manga, one of the best cast in manga, some of the best art in manga, some of the best fights in manga, like this manga is truly a masterpiece
I read berserk and felt empty knowing there wont be anything that beats it. I am now on chapter 86 in Vagabond, I read all that in 3 days. I'm so, SO happy there's something that we can appreciate and put it beside Berserk. If anyone knows any other quality anime/manga that is on the level of these two, PLEASE let me know. I am SICK and TIRED of seeing the same old shounens repeat their stuff and get called 'anime of the generation'...
havent read vegabond but I recently caught up to berserk and am over halfway thru Vindland Saga. Vinland hits me in ways nothing else has. Highly recommend it
Caught up to Vagabond in 3 days. It is amazing for me for how relatable his thought process and spiritual journey as a whole is. It's like looking at a reflection in the river, it's not a perfect reflection but you can find yourself there
Vagabond is just.. breath taking and I’ve read it three times, but each time left me immensely upset, I truly understand how hard it is to make manga and I really respect the author for all of his work, especially REAL, that manga was amazing, but man I wish he would finish it Musashi was just about to meet Kojiro
Inoue is currently directing the final arc of slam dunk in the "The First Slam Dunk" movie so he might return to finish either Real or Vagabond after its release.
I hope he chooses vagabond, because I really just want to read the chapters about the musashi vs kojiro fight and how it will affect musashi's personality
I love vagabond, one of my favorites, but if its not finished its not perfect. Endings mean everything in narratives and no story is perfect without one. How can you say he did what he set out to do when he literally didn’t finish it. Give some respect to manga authors who knew where to take their story and wrap it up before they grew sick of making it.
No manga or anime is as deep vagabond, not even berserk or vinland saga. That’s what makes it so great it takes themes and pieces of philosophy and adds complexity and layers to it.
@@negawatt359 I agree with you, vagabond is genuinely one of the best pieces of media ever created but itll never be THE best because its not finished. There are many completed manga out there, a couple that i like more than both vinland and berserk. Honestly ill say i personally dont like current vinland saga anywhere near as much as i liked the previous arcs, another reason why something has to be finished before it could be called the best. GoT tv show is another great example. I own the entire Vagaband manga and many of his art books (Some of slam dunk, some vagabond) but i feel like i have to make the point that it cant be number one if the authors vision wasnt even fully realized (It can be in our hearts though).
@@pocketgrim4942 i think we have nothing to worry about vagabond ending, simply because inoue is not rushing it. I mean part of the hiatus is inoue wanting to have more experience and knowledge to write the ending of vagabond so he’s out there living more of his life. He’s a volunteer basketball coach for little kids btw.
@@negawatt359 Sounds like he's making more experience to resume Real and not vagabond, i love Inoue and respect any decision he makes but i wont call it perfect until its done.
@@pocketgrim4942 well, musashi gets a boat oar and beats kojiro to death with it, there, that's how musashi's story ends, you know the dude actually existed right?
If you have not already, I highly recommend reading Eiji Yoshikawa's Musashi, which--as I'm sure you know--Vagabond is based on. There is also a phenomenal audiobook version, brilliantly narrated by Brian Nishii. Life-changing novel.
one of these days i want to remake the classic original 3 part movies that tell musashi's story. ive always loved vagabond. i still to this day wish we had a vagabond anime adatation.
Dont worry the ending more or less can be puzzled together if you read the story. And also the result of the final duel be found out as it happened in real life too

Crazy how takehiko inoue is so good at what he does you couldnt even imagine the drawing to be an illustration instead of an actual picture
