      Thanks Buddy, but... the siemens encoder interface module is high price, I can not afford it unless I could get a chance to use one or borrow one. I will think about it, Thanks!

      Thanks for watching, for analog outputs e.g hydraulic control, yes IO card work. For position feedback, I recommend using encoder and encoder reading cards.

    Hello, And thank you so much for you videos! Your training courses have helped me tremendously. I am a little stuck on this episode (MB10) I'm up to the point where you command the motor on with ctrl but the motor shaft just locks, no rotation it will eventually generate a error # 78 in status. I'm also having an issue finding a description for that error in the manuel. According to the LED's on the KL2541 there is no direction set. How do I tell it what direction to go?

      Thanks for watching! Does your step motor has an external brake? I am also concerning about your step motor wiring and power. I would recommend you review the KL2541 manual carefully and review my video 2-3 times to make sure not missing some wires and settings.

      Thank you for the reply! No brake, I originally suspected wiring as well. I've gone through it several times and I'm fairly confident the wiring is good. Watching your videos I notice a direction lap is illuminated mine is not. So I'm presuming a setting somewhere. The other interesting thing is the encoder is reading ( i can see the leds flicker when I turn the motor by hand) But in Twincat3 under kl2541 position page there is no indication of movement. @@electricalautomation

      Update: moved on through ep12 and find that the stepper and encoder are now working. But still not when following steps in ep10. Maybe a change in Twincat3 or firmware issue somewhere? It would be nice to know what's different.

      Glad ep12 help it working. Then, back to ep10, I am concerning 18:18 if you can 'enable' 'ctrl ON' your drive. looks like the 'Enable' had issue on your KL2541. But Ep12 has 'Power On' function block to enable your KL2541. @@viggoproductions

      I was definitely turning on ctrl. That would cause the rotor to lock. I think something at that initial level I think was not setting direction as i never had a direction lamp till ep12. A Maybe a rev in the software? I'm moving on as I don't think I'm experienced enough here to sort it out. I'm calling it a bug for now. lol Thank you again for responding and helping. @@electricalautomation

    It is a value valid for all motor ?

      Thanks for watching my friend. 32767 comes from the max data of the INT. Please see 17:10. It is using an integer value to control the velocity. So the max setting there is 32767.

    thank you for your tutorials. A very good job. I worked with Siemens for 20 years an now, thanks to your job, i'm learning beckhoff World. It's impossible to get a beckhoff pc in a few time now (delivery is 4 months). I see that you use your laptop. With mine it's impossible becouse the ethernet device is not compatible. Some one can suggest me a PC or notebook with which i can do same real test with ethercat fieldbus?

      Very welcome, I also have many years siemens experience and now using Beckhoff as the main control system for some motion systems. A quick answer your question is that you need laptop or computer with INTEL ethernet adapter. Thinkpad P or T should be OK. DELL and HP may not work. You can send me emails for more discussion.     Once I enter 1 in the Ctrl, the stepper motor won't turn, everything is right but the only difference is my stepper motor is 1.5A and 24V. I'm using a KL2531.

      Use multimeter or scope to check if there have voltage coming from the KL2531. Also are you at free run mode.
