- I was sitting on the right hand side of the 4:16 p.m. train. As I was getting off the train I noticed two burly New Jersey Transit Policemen in full uniform. They approached me and asked me about my filming. I explained I like to take photos and videos and post them on the web. The one policeman asked me a few more question and wanted my address in case they needed to follow up with me, so I gave them my card. They said it was completely fine to have taken the video and it was fine for me to post it on the web. Is That Odd?
good work out there man keep it up allways ok really do
Sorry to hear about the cops asking u about filming, Was here filming once for an hour & didn't get asked questions, I did avoid most of the cameras, this station has more than I've ever seen! Nice ride vid!
I wouldn't recommend getting off of the train at the Lautenberg/Secaucus rail station after dark. I missed my stop at Newark/Liberty and stopped in Rahway. Took a cab back to my hotel at Liberty. Best 75 dollars I ever spent.
I have been stopped by MTA Police for photographing, and never had a bad encounter. The officers were always polite and professional. Being law enforcement myself, I understand where they're coming from. As long as the officers are professional and know the job, there should never be a problem.

I love this railway.
Most New Jersey Transit trains stop at SEC.
Provides a transfer to various other NJT services to other points, like the Meadowlands. I've only known evening rush hour NEC and 1 or 2 NJCL trains to pass SEC without stopping.
Thanks for posting this. It helps confirm the journey time from Newark to NY. We're travelling via Newark and intend to squeeze the gap between flights and fit in a journey into NY. Can I ask the frequency of trains and at what cost (return journey)?
Been looking for an old enough video where you could see the outside world after entering Manhattan and before entering NYP.. this is before Hudson Yards covered the tracks.
Penn Station (New York) is between 7th and 8th Avenues and between 31st and 33rd Streets in Manhattan.
I did this journey about 15 years ago. Not much has changed. Huge swathes of Newark still look like a building site or a bomb site. It amazes me how poor some areas of modern America can be considering how wealthy a nation it is.
The wealth is restricted to about 5% of the population, and they certainly don't want to share it with anyone. GREED is the American way. The rich will destroy anything to get more money.
This brings back memories
yes This is a guidance to all who new the airport.good
Arriving about 5p, it was hard to get a cab. All the cabs are switching drivers then.
Weighing in on how to get from airport to manhattan. Thanks for the vid. I typed the query on a whim and there you were. Going to take the A Train to Penn ...wooo hooo! Thanks!
Awesome view from train...
Is this edited in any way? I've to make this journey in late July. Can't wait!
Neil Omalley No edits at all. Posted as captured.
Google "train ride from Newark International Airport to New York City's Penn Station" and the first link will answer all your questions. [TH-cam doesn't appear to allow URLs in posts, otherwise I'd have posted the URL.]
Beautiful infrastructure all about!
Thanks for the video. We thus know a little more of his country. I found a great shoot.? If it was with a Brazilian tourist visa, when approached by the police would be unable to do this type of shooting?
YES!!! ATF!!! American Foot Stompers!!!! That was our GQ dance group name!!!
I didn't notice him before. I assume doing some kind of maintenance work?
Great train ride!
Hi Ben Iam from Mumbai (Bombay) I dont know much of NY or USA as Iam familiar
of Australia. Is this New Ark and New York are different Cities? Is New Ark in New York State? Pl.Clarify.Thank you for your nice video.
Since I do not think anyone has answered your question, I will. Newark (pronounced like new erk, not new ark) is in New Jersey while New York is in New York state. They are different cities but are literally right next to each other.

Ben, i would say that in the days of post 9/11, its fine. Newark Liberty airport station is part of the port authority of ny/nj and there rules are stricter in regards to filming.
Will reach Newark Airport from London Heathrow next Tuesday and will take this train to Penn station then go to Port Authority to take the bus to Albany. will be a long journey !. anyway thanks for the video.
GO TO IDLEWILD (JFK)!!
REALLY IN NEW YORK!
I went thru the same screening questions whilst filming @ Lancaster Gate tube station in London :(
@Tupper0456 you can find schedules and fares at njtransit com
what was the fastest speed the train reached?
Welcome to The Garden State!
Because passenger routes share rails with freight...
Newark.......urban blight at it's best!
The Dreadful Hudson River Tunnel ' Amazing " I Walked it ' Been looking for A Video of it '
It's really unfortunate that a private citizen filming a TH-cam video to document public transportation was interrogated by the police, but they had a valid reason: a major part of most terrorist operations is surveillance (to inspect locations/building structures as well as security protocol). I'm guessing you probably didn't receive a follow-up call, but if you'd filmed every day for a month, you almost certainly would have.
This video was also taken only 10 years since 9-11, too. Wonder how they'd react now, since every smartphone has a camera....
VEry very nice your vid. I LOVED!!! It´s my dream go to ny and would be the begining this ride.... :)
not unusual in New Jersey or New York......they check regularly....it's common practice....I have friends who live up north.....I'm from Tennessee U.S.A.........friendfromyesteryear
NJ Transit Police? Seems odd because I thought that was a PA train. Am I mistaken?
Airtrain Newark (and JFK) are under the jurisdiction of the PA police but NJ transit including the North Jersey Coast Line and Northeast Corridor Lines are under the jurisdiction of the NJ Transit Police
To DocentUSA BenSlivka, a Big thank you from Scotland.Cheers
@AnaestheticGas: There is only one Penn Station in NYC. :-)
No argument, but it's interesting that other locations call their local station "Penn Station.: Notably, Baltimore.
7:40 antique train.
How much the trip???
Few chatterboxes inside the train
Much easier to take the Newark Airport Express BUS to the Port Authority Bus Terminal or to the EAST SIDE at Grand Central Terminal!!!!!
Well, the *easiest* way to get to NYC from EWR is to use Uber or Lyft. But more expensive.

Can't wait until it be driverless!
older trains newer fleet work well with this problem
