Great video, I learned a lot more here than I had ever known about Johnson. I do like his music and the video of him dancing has been blowing up on my channel recently which has drawn my attention back to him after two years. Thanks!
there is an account of that night, by a woman who wrote a book about the last debutante year (before the war). She survived by being on the upper deck area with her date, looking down. The first thing she saw was the band was gone. Also people rushed in that she thought were there to help, but instead they were robbing the dead. That was not uncommon sadly, and rarely metioned. It was pure luck, if you happened to be on the upper level and near the walls, you lived. If not it was a quick death and no one felt anything except the survivors, who had a sense of guilt.
