@@danielseguradiaz313 Solo dinamitaron la parte baja para que no flote, ya que en un momento la proa empezó a flotar y temían que pueda causar más problemas. Es ahí cuando apareció ese gran agujero cuadrado en la parte baja cercana a la quilla, que pudo verse por varios años.

Some people here seem not to know which hard weather conditions you find at the west coast of Fuerteventura especially in winter time. Even in summer time you seldom find a chance to dive there without high risks. The American Star (forther SS America) was an extremely stable ship, also due to some reinforcements provided for military purposes. No wreck of a modern cruise ship could survive so many years at this position.

She's completely destroyed . She's in pieces & in peace now , scattered at the bottom of the waves She was the troop carrier USS Westpoint during World War II. The last remains are here . But lot of parts are stolen by locals . There are a whole bunch of them, in a bar, on the main island. The rust started to break her down as well as the tiny corals and stuff eating her away, then the waves pushed on her which let more tiny sea creatures in her and finally....the entire stern broke apart and went to the bottom of the shallow ocean. The bow rested above the ocean until it got more and more to the portside, the rust broke the decks apart and let boat deck, A deck and B deck to collapse in the ocean, the remaining structure rolled over and collapsed and left the bow....that's all I know

Si somos dd Fuerteventura, de Morro Jable, solemos bucear con bastante frecuencia, pero no esa inmersión en concreto ya que las condiciones suelen ser complicadas, si conocemos compañeros de por la zona, nos puedes buscar en facebook, oxigeno.jablitosub por ahí nos localizas, no somos un centro, si no un club un grupo de amigos que se juntan para bucear, con lo cual no tenemos equipos no nada para alquilar

Puedes en apnea claro, las condiciones del mar suelen ser malas, asegurate que va a estar bueno. Hay mucho hierro que ver pero el pecio esta practicamente desmontado, se diferencian algunas zonas, para nosotros si valió mucho la pena hacerlo

The stern of the ship fell off very close to when it first hit the shores in 1994, so it probably rotted away by now.
The Stern collapsed under water in 1996 i think.
