I've had the Apple Watch SE for 6 weeks and I love it...this is my first Apple Watch, and first smart watch in general. I don't really have any issues with it, honestly...the one thing is keeping it charged...since it's sleep tracking (and I actually really like being able to see what time it is in the middle of the night if I wake up; I take out my contacts at night and I'm pretty much blind, so I can't see the alarm clock from bed!), you don't charge it at night. I've been charging mine for maybe 30 minutes in the evening after work, when I'm just relaxing and having dinner, and then again for an hour in the morning, while I'm waking up and having breakfast, so then it's fully charged for my daily workout right after breakfast.

My thoughts exactly about always on displays. I prefer my watch to respond by wrist flip. I even keep the always on display off on my 14 Pro Max. It turns on when I look at it or touch the screen. Granted I don't have my phone on a desk all day. I use it constantly but it lives in my pocket half the time

    Just so you know:
The Stand ring shows hours in which you've stood and moved for at least a minute. Complete your daily Stand goal by standing up and moving around for at least 1 minute during 12 different hours in the day. Even if you stand all day, you still need to move around.
If you specify that you use a wheelchair, the Stand ring switches to the Roll ring. Roll shows hours in which you’ve pushed around for at least 1 minute.

I went with the 6 specifically for the always on display. For me, it made a big difference when working out. I use timers during my sets and want to see time remaining. Often times without the always on display, the display would go to sleep mid set, which was really annoying. The cost difference is indeed hard to justify by this feature alone but 🤷🏾‍♂️

I just bought the Apple Series 6 watch. However, the feature I am about to discuss would also pertain to the Series SE. I have turned off my Always On Display (not available on SE). I only need a display when I need to read it. However, I found that if I twist my wrist, the display only stays on for five seconds. There is a stay awake function that will enable the watch to display for either fifteen or seventy seconds when the face is tapped. Since I do not use always on, I would have liked to see Apple have a variable stay awake feature where you could set the function for 15, 30, 45, or 60 seconds, giving the user a wider choice in stay awake intervals.
Favorite uses: One of my more favorite uses is the ability to use my Apple Watch to get rid of those annoying scam phone calls. After I receive them, I will, at my convenience, go into recent calls on my handset and block those calls. I have new Apple Air Air Pods Pro and Bose Quiet Comfort ear buds, I am sure each set has advantages of its own and I will be glad I have both. pairs.

I don’t exactly know who but someone from apple told the reason why the watch doesn’t show complex sleep patterns and trends. They said it would’ve easy to add it to the watch but you can’t really help your sleep patterns and there’s not much you can change about ‘how much REM sleep you had’ or ‘how many hours you were awake’ so instead they focus on your sleep time, which encourages you to get a healthy amount of sleep instead, which is something we actually can control🤷🏻‍♂️

For the stand ring,(blue) it tracks if your moving around, like soft movement (stretching or walking around the house) the exercise ring(green) tracks if your running walking, hiking or biking and it moves up, the move ring (red) uses the stand and exercise ring and counts the amount of calories that you burned. You change the goal of how many calories you burn a day. With watchOS 7 you can change the stand and exercise goals as well, in the fitness app on the watch. You can do that by opening the fitness app on the watch (the app with the three rings) and scroll all the way down, tap “change goals” and you can change the goal for the red ring, tap next to change the green, then blue

I have the SE cellular and none of those are frustrations. Look, before anybody considers any Apple Watch ask yourself what is your main intended purposes for the watch. Then you can narrow it down to what you need and save on what you don’t need. For me, the SE watch cellular is what I need. I am forgetful with where I leave my phone and don’t have my phone on my body often especially when at the park with my son or running errands. This watch helped me respond to all messages and calls on the fly cause that’s all I need out of this watch. Nothing else. For that reason the SE watch with cellular works. Don’t need the other junk. So reflect on your life style and what you need out of a watch and begin narrowing down that list. Then you can see what is too much for you and you can save and have more then enough with your pick.

A few times at the gas station I forgot my wallet and phone to pay. Luckily I always have my wrist watch cause I can pay through apple pay. Also lost my phone and used the watch to find it many times. I use the timer every day for work and I can respond to my wife’s incoming messages through my watch. I don’t need to pull my phone out and get into trouble with the boss. The watch makes it easy to stay in communication in a professional way. It’s super convenient. But again people shouldn’t get the latest watch. Get what you need. You save money.

Interested in your sleep monitoring experience. I did try an inexpensive fitness/sleep/heart rate tracker for a while but found the information to be unreliable and almost created a “stress” in itself, it became an annoyance. TBH it had novelty value only for me at that level of accuracy.
Mostly, when wearing any watch, my clothing covers the watch, so AOD has limited value for me in those circumstances. As long as I can read the display outdoors in sunny conditions, during my activities of hiking and cycling, I am happy.
For my money, and usage, the SE made more sense than the 6. In fact, I decided that more desirable attributes for me were to have the ease of use from the larger 44mm display, and cellular capability for better future proofing my needs.
I still love my mechanical watches too, real timepieces, some of which go back over 50 years in my possession. Now they definitely have AOD, and as they are completely passive, give one a break from tech :-)

Important tip for the Standing stat. You may be at a standing desk but doesn't mean anything to the watch if your watch arm is not "hanging" beside you. It has no concept of elevation. It only knows if your arm is hanging down. We used to pull over and step outside to get the standing stat ( i know, stupid) until I figured out all you need to do is hang your arm perpendicular to the ground. It records it all this way...every...single...time.

6:30 ok i just need to clarify, your technically correct. Using the default sleep tracking app by apple you don't get that detailed of a measurement, but this is not the fault of the SE and is easily remedied. Long sotry short the default app is very lacking and in its 1st generation, so if you want detailed sleep tracking just get one of the many third party apps, that work great even on the series 3.
