Even going as far as adopting the Koopalings to keep them from being mistreated and giving them Magic Scepters to protect themselves from the Mushroom Kingdom's most elite warriors. I like the visual fan art a lot. Bowser literally does the exact same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome. The picture makes him look like he's gone mad from loss, so he decides to take over the mushroom kingdom tyrannically, besieging it with his airships in the sky and him leading some troops on the ground. And the musical fan art really illustrates the concept, so much so that it's helped me to this interpretation. Edit: "HOW ARE YOU GOING TO STOP ME NOW?! MARIO? LUIGI? BWAHAHAHA!" A final boast before he achieves his goal at last-- they attacked at dusk, reddening the night sky with the toad's houses they've set aflame-- charred toads can probably make even better bricks than before. At last, he's reached his climax; invading the kingdom to take more than monarchy from their thrones-- they will be taken from their lives, but not until after their subjects are.

Driven to resort to violence, Bowser had no choice but to Unite the Goomba's, Koopa's and all other mistreated creatures under his banner. Even going as far as adopting the Koopalings to keep them from being mistreated and giving them Magic Scepters to protect themselves from the Mushroom Kingdom's most elite warriors.
