He was truly a great Bluesman. I always loved how he was immortalized by Grand Funk Railroad’s “We’re an American Band”. Loved how they brought him out on tour with them.
I heard an interview with Mark Farner saying on that tour Freddie did clean them out when they played cards which in the song he makes a reference to that bit of fun. Freddie was the real deal . ♣♠

Pretty much sums it up. Funny how that happens, I had the same experience one time when I saw the Buddy Guy / Junior Wells Blues Band in a small club.
