My feelings, exactly. I am seventy years old and I fell in love with Lanza’s voice, and with Opera, when I first heard him sing sixty five years ago. I do not remember my youth but my mother told me that I would listen to his rendition of Testa Adorata over an over again, ad nauseum. There is not a rendition of any aria nor of any song, for that matter, that Mario Lanza might take a second place in singing. To me, he is hands down the best tenor and baritone of all the ages since people discovered the art form of bel canto. His crystalline voice did not depend on any kind of embellishment in audio technology, non-existent in his time.
Thanks a lot!!! To me, he is one of my favorite Tenors ever. I. E Enrico Caruso, Benjamin Gigil, Mario de Monaco, Richard Tucker, Franco Corelli, Mario Lanza, Pavarotti.... Just to mention a few of my all time best Tenors.
@@christineokosun I absolutely love the tenor voice. Lanza was my first introduction when I was very young, perhaps 8 or 9 years old (my dad was a big fan of his). I love all the classic tenors but Lanza's voice has that something special that none of the others have. Are you open to suggestions to react to some more of his music? Bless you and thank you for your posts x
Christine sei il massimo, hai cercato di spiegare con le parole.....ciò che noi sappiamo solo ascoltare.. Brava anche io come te amo tantissimissimo la sua voce.. E come TANTI PENSO CHE NESSUN TENORE AL MONDO POTRÀ MAI EUGUAGLIARLO
Christine, thank you for reviewing the Gold Standard version of Mario Lanza's interpretation of this piece. The Great Caruso is superior to all other versions he did.
Exquisite wisdom Christine. The alternate take Mario recorded for The Great Caruso is even better than this one. Don't know why it wasn't the one used. It's on the Rhino CD. A miracle. Reviewed in The One Tenor.
Don't forget their predecessors Caruso, Benjamin Gigil, Franco Monacho, Richard Tucker and a couple of others from Germany and Austria (I can't remember their names now)
Really? Sorry you are wrong. Lanza voice is far superior. He could sing anything. Caruso could only sing opera. Please read Caruso's son comment on lanza and his father..
This tenor is probably the greatest of them all. The emotion in his voice is staggering

Great Mario! Ty🎉
Beautiful lady, beautiful words. Thank you so much. I've loved Lanza's voice since I was thirteen x

Questa signora ha una faccia simpatica e poi ama Mario Lanza...... è il massimo!
CARUSO sang this one way better then all the greats as he was the Greatest!!! No microphone in those old days
Such a bad comment. In no way did Caruso sang this song better than lanza.

Thanks a lot!!!! I thought this was the Great Caruso version. Could you kindly send me the link to that please?
Nonsense. Mario lanza later version is much better than Caruos
Caruso

Alondra and Pavarotti where the two best and they both went on to sing popular
Mario lanza and Pavarotti where the best and they moved on to popular
Don't forget their predecessors Caruso, Benjamin Gigil, Franco Monacho, Richard Tucker and a couple of others from Germany and Austria (I can't remember their names now)
Really. They don't compare
CARUSO sang the most powerful projection & truest of the true! & Started this all new standard unmatched by all who proceeded him!

Don't think so. Mario lanza sang this aria with so much emotion
Nonsense
Paliacco is a clown being made fun of.
Oh! I never bothered to know the story
