I heard a TH-cam say that he nearly died saying the GameCube is 20 years old and he first started playing when he was 5 and I felt for him I did. It won't be the last time he feels like that
The confusion is probably due to the tenor sax and the trumpet both being in the key of b-flat. But definitely agree on the cool factor of the tenor sax.
You haven't heard much jazz in Anime because Cowboy Bebop used up all most all of it. They tapped nearly the entire jazz allocation for anime in this universe to produce this OST, and it was worth it.
People ask me what they should watch to start out with anime, I spectifically *don't* recommend Cowboy Bebop. Why? Because once you've seen it ... there's nowhere to go but down.
It's a truly amazing series. The worst part is it ends. Not that its a horrible end, but that you'll want more. Much like FLCL it feels like they made music then said "Let's make an anime" perhaps it was the other way around. In either case you get a well crafted series.
There are definitely anime out there that I feel like you can only watch all the way through once, Trigun for example or Ruroni Kenshin. But then there are certified classics that you can watch over and over, like Yu Yu Hakusho.
I wanted to add (I'll stick it here I guess) that that's still plenty of time for some build up. If you watch an episode or two you will probably enjoy it but be a little confused about where the hype is coming from. You watch it until the end and then you're like ah there it is. The soundtrack is exquisite throughout though.
Cowboy Bebop is considered a 'space western', a subgenre of scifi that uses tropes commonly associated with western films - bounty hunting, gunfights, shootouts and a general tone of space being a lawless place that criminals and bounty hunter alike are exploiting for their own gain. The show isn't strictly any one genre, it mixes in many different styles of storytelling, and the combination feels unique even today. As for other songs on the soundtrack to check out, I recommend Waltz for Zizi the most, but the entire soundtrack is a masterpiece showing the broad skillset of the band and songwriter.
It’s a space western/film noir cross up with a former mob assassin and a retired cop working as bounty hunters with a beautiful woman with a troubled past and an eccentric hacker who travel the solar system hunting down criminals for cash on the cop’s ship the ‘Bebop’.
Bebop is one of the few anime that was an original concept, not adapted from a manga, a light novel, or anything else. They built the whole show from the ground up and created one of the greatest pieces of media of all time. And I can't overstate how much of a genius Yōko Kanno is. Since you asked for more, it's only right that you check out the ending credits track, The Real Folk Blues, then go from there.
I watched it for the first time last year, and despite how old it is, it doesn’t feel like it. It has such a high attention to detail and world building
Yes, it's not 'old' - it's a classic. It has style, it has story, it makes you laugh and cry, kinda bittersweet, relatable, but never mundane. It's perfectly balanced. Just do yourself a favor and watch it - even if you're not that much into anime. It's a great story using animation as a medium. Anyone can enjoy it 🙂

That end part is actually not a trumpet, its a saxophone! Theyre playing what's called Altissimo notes, which is basically having such an incredibly tight control over your air flow and embouchure (mouth posture essentially), that you can force the instrument into producing incredibly high notes outside of the typical play range. The 'Cowboy' part of the title is a name they use in universe for bounty hunters. Since the main characters are bounty hunters on the ship named Bebop, it falls into place pretty well. And all things told, the music is deeply important to the show throughout, and none of it is bad.

Soundtrack by Yoko Kanno one of the moust proflific anime composers, and The Seatbelts. If you want some tracks with singing from cowboy bebop, there is Real Folk Blues, Don't Bother None, Pushing the Sky, Adieu, Call Me. Cowboy Bebop just oozes cool.
I also love "Cowboy Bebop". I have the version that was broadcast on the TV Tokyo network on video tape, so I also have the phantom 13th episode. I was already thrilled by this opening, and I really liked the tidy nature of the story inside. It's true that, among anime that are easy to understand with a clear beginning, development, twist, and conclusion, and a clear good and evil, this is a hotchpotch of good and bad, so reviews were mixed -- and to be honest, it was an anime made at the same time, and there were many rivals (this is not just during this period, but in Japan there are always many rivals). But "Cowboy Bebop" is a special work to me.
Jazz is not a major genre in Japan, but it is a familiar music. For that reason, it is also classified as J-JAZZ, but the boundaries are more ambiguous than overseas, so it is used in various works. J-JAZZ suits a more mature and rhythmic development. For that reason, it is used in various works. However, it was "Cowboy Bebop" that introduced authentic jazz (jazz was used in insert songs before that as well, so it's not unusual. However, "TANK" is so well-made that it's now considered a standard). Others that are more authentic would be "Slope-by-Slope Apollon" if you want to hear old orthodox jazz, or "Blue Giant" if you want to know about modern J-Jazz.
One of my favorite soundtracks ( well, two official plus an additional) is from the anime "Noir". Slower and dramatic in its styling. So nice to listen to while writing.
A unique piece of music for a unique anime, I discovered Cowboy Bebop in the 2000, and I was amazed, I never knew such a fantastic story, cool characters, mixed with awesome music, there is nothing similar like this. Yoko Kanno is a genius and The Seatbelts are very talented musicians. See you space cowboy...
Please do more music from the bebop soundtracks. Yoko kanno the composer is amazing! (Her stuff from macross plus is amazing too) also music from original trigun is fun too!
In my head; "It's not THAT old right? Lets see, it aired around the same time as one piece started to air... that's only... holy cr*p... 25 years ago". In all seriousness though, I re watched it about a year ago and it has aged really well. Only 26 episodes and it has a real ending. PS the netflix live action is not bad (unpopular take maybe) but the anime is definitely better. Hope you give it a go.
to be fair, 25 years is not THAT old by any standard. Most of humanities best movies, books, songs are way older than that. and Anime might be a newer art form than books for example, but even Anime has been around for over a century, so 25 years really isn't that much.
Thank you for your reaction to a song I've loved since I was a child. Yoko Kanno, who composed this song, has written music for many animations, such as Ghost in the Shell, Macross Frontier, and Slope of Apollon. I hope you'll find your favorite Yoko Kanno music. Personally, I love the music from Macross Frontier.
My absolute favorite after Tank! is probably "Call me Call me" but I handle that with caution and highly recommend you stay far away from it until after you watch the anime. After that and much easier for reaction videos is "Gotta Knock A Little Harder" from the movie (soul!), "The Real Folk Blues" (the ending), "Cats on Mars" (so quirky), and occasionally "Space Lion" which is pretty epic.
Well if you want to hear the rest, you have your work cut out for you. Bebop is one of the most unique and best television soundtracks ever made. The show was a one season (26episodes) plus one movie story line, and every episode has its own unique and individual soundtrack. The only common music throughout the show is the opening and closing tracks. So what you end up with is 96 separate tracks spread over 7 albums/eps. Do listen to it all, its amazing start to finish.
My understanding is that when I was a kid growing up in the US on adult swim Cowboy Bebop was played on repeat for years. It didn't in other countries. The US has an impression of it that isn't shared even in Japan. It's the closest anime that comes to perfection in my opinion. I recommend it to everyone. I'm usually sub over dub but the English dub is so damn good. And the composure Yoko Kanno is a genius. I still listen to the OST like once a month atleast.
Cowboy bebop is considered one of the greatest animes of all time. It’s pretty much required watching for any new anime watcher unfortunately, after watching it most other animes won’t live up to the hype that is cowboy bebop. It’s just perfect.
Another excellent opening and series is Baccano. There are so many great older series, many forget about. My personal favourites, that are not so famous, are Black Lagoon, Monster, Mushishi, Ghost in the Shell SAC and Aria. All got great, but very different music, too.
@@bemusedbandersnatch2069 Sorry, no streaming. A friend of mine bought the DVD. And if I'm not mistaken there should be fan-sub out there, if you can live without a dub.
Cowboy Bepop is like a rite of passage for an anime fan, and I'd say it's up there with Fullmetal Alchemist as a "Must Watch". It's pretty short too, only like 30 or so episodes so it isn't like me telling my buddies to watch all 400 episodes of Bleach 😅😂
After you mentioned it, I could only think of two other anime, aside from Cowboy Bebop, that have an opening song that are just instrumentals. 'Yona of the Dawn' and 'The Twelve Kingdoms'
これも古いアニメ(1983)なんですが”銀河漂流バイファム”のOP曲"Hello Vifam"を試して欲しいです。歌詞とセリフは全て英語です。This is also an old anime (1983), but I want you to try the OP song "Hello Vifam" from "Galactic Drifting Vifam". All of the lyrics and dialogue are in English.
To be fair, Cowboy Bebop wasn't that popular in Japan. I believe it was on a pay per view type channel at the time. It is actually more popular in America. So popular it was even parodied in a 2010s children show Gumball where there is no way the kids would know the show, but the adults would. The show is a mixture of genres with western, sci-fi, and noir. Really unique.
Not going to spoil anything, but bounty hunters are collectively referred to as cowboys. Anyway, bounty hunters in space trying to earn enough to keep everything flying.
what’s insane is “tank” isn’t even the best song on the ost. “rush” and “bad dog no biscuits” are more fun versions of “tank”, “car 24” is my favorite track in that it takes me places, even with it being a simple song, and “space lion” is absolutely gorgeous. the entire ost is a good time.
From the great era of amazing anime openings... I wish they made more totally new tracks specifically for anime they're for... but it's all licensed music these days :(
Until the 1990s,Japanese anime was produced by Japanese people. From 2002,it became a joint production between Korea and Japan. Japanese and Korean religious are different. Therefore Japanese anime up to the 1990s and modern Japanese anime are similar on the outside, but not on the inside. The same goes for the Japanese music industry.
That's a bit different. It's a Japanese anime, but because of the volume of production, the cel production was subcontracted to Korea. As wages in Korea increased, production moved to China and Southeast Asia. There are very few "Japan-Korea co-productions," and although there have been a few in recent years (as is the case with China), very few have gained popularity because the content doesn't live up to the promise. If there is one recently, it would be "Paranoia Agent." Off the top of my head, I can't think of any highly acclaimed anime that was a co-production with Korea.
Should I react to any other Cowboy Bepop Soundtracks?🔥

My favorite song in Cowboy Bebop is Rain but Thanks is an insane opening. A pure feelgood song before a wonderful story.
It is also one of the few anime that I feel the English translation is great. I feel they really nailed it with the casting.
After that and much easier for reaction videos is "Gotta Knock A Little Harder" from the movie (soul!), "The Real Folk Blues" (the ending), "Cats on Mars" (so quirky), and occasionally "Space Lion" which is pretty epic.
you must (really should) watch the show. Its wonderful. Scifi/western/noire/cyberpunk.
Baccano anime also has a jazzy OST. Try listening to Guns n roses from them.
If you want a brillant soundtrack, you should listen to Samurai Shamploo from the same author as Cowboy Bebop.
"So long as there's a spaceship in it, you can do whatever you want" and Watanabe just makes a masterpiece... 🤌
Petition to get that sweet girl back
You get the singing in the outro Real Folks Blues
I would love to watch more videos from this album, my favorite track would be Space Lion!! I hope you can do that one
They are bounty hunters.
The main ship the live on is called the Bebop 7:34
Bebop is a type of music
A sub genre of jazz
Please listen to the rest of the album. Is all jazz!
Where the hell can I watch Baccano? I've been wanting to watch it for ages and I just cant find it streaming.
@@bemusedbandersnatch2069 Sorry, no streaming. A friend of mine bought the DVD. And if I'm not mistaken there should be fan-sub out there, if you can live without a dub.
@@bastiangugu4083 *sigh* thats what I figured
Cowboy Bepop is like a rite of passage for an anime fan, and I'd say it's up there with Fullmetal Alchemist as a "Must Watch". It's pretty short too, only like 30 or so episodes so it isn't like me telling my buddies to watch all 400 episodes of Bleach 😅😂
After you mentioned it, I could only think of two other anime, aside from Cowboy Bebop, that have an opening song that are just instrumentals. 'Yona of the Dawn' and 'The Twelve Kingdoms'
Check out Kaho Nakamura singing “A Million Miles Away” in Japanese from the anime film Ryû To Sobakasu No Hime. Prepare to be stunned.

クールなOPですよね!
インストのみのOPだと【baccano!】もオススメです。
これも古いアニメ(1983)なんですが”銀河漂流バイファム”のOP曲"Hello Vifam"を試して欲しいです。歌詞とセリフは全て英語です。This is also an old anime (1983), but I want you to try the OP song "Hello Vifam" from "Galactic Drifting Vifam". All of the lyrics and dialogue are in English.
It's not a turmpet at the end, but the same sax from the solo...

Anime movie with jazz check out Metropolis
what’s insane is “tank” isn’t even the best song on the ost. “rush” and “bad dog no biscuits” are more fun versions of “tank”, “car 24” is my favorite track in that it takes me places, even with it being a simple song, and “space lion” is absolutely gorgeous. the entire ost is a good time.
*everyone calling Cowboy Bebop really old*
Me: *cries in Cutey Honey*

From the great era of amazing anime openings... I wish they made more totally new tracks specifically for anime they're for... but it's all licensed music these days :(
Until the 1990s,Japanese anime was produced by Japanese people.
From 2002,it became a joint production between Korea and Japan.
Japanese and Korean religious are different.
Therefore
Japanese anime up to the 1990s and modern Japanese anime are similar on the outside, but not on the inside.
