I totally agree, but from my experience tattoos are a collaboration between artists and clients. If the client really wanted that artist to do that tattoo and said he didn’t care if the lines went perfect then I don’t see a problem with it.
I think the issue with the head tattoo is if a design will definitely look bad in the head then either the design or the placement should be changed. The guy did a horrible looking tattoo that he should have never even attempted in the first place
Genuinely surprised with your take on that head castle. If this is honestly the best line you can pull down a skull, I’d expect you to try to talk the client into a different design. You really can’t talk your way out of the problems with this tattoo once the client realizes what they got stuck with.
Kirk has already said what he would do. He'd tell them he can't pull straight lines on the back of dude's head so that particular design isn't going to look very good. But if client insists that's what he wants, Kirk would take his money and do the tattoo, because that's how he pays the bills. Which I find refreshing and authentic

That black and grey head tattoo with no outlines, it looks amazing without lines. Not every tattoo needs an outline. As long as you have solid black and contrast, it will look amazing.

The thought of starting a TikTok or TH-cam or any video channel and criticizing tattoo work on a very technical level, having never tattooed myself, just feels very strange. Then they go over with color. I think pony lawson does this with his micro portraits. I just haven’t seen it done irl. Only videos
I think people who put hard timelines on skills are just mad there are people working for a fraction of the time they been, have but are wildly better than they are at the skill.
The AI guy should have looked at some actual reference photos and realized trees don't usually grow sitting on piles of rocks like the tree in the foreground of that tattoo.

I for one never really got the whole blackout tattoos thingy, for me Tattoos meant to add and show colour on a dry empty, to add life to it but that's just me.

I'm trying to get into tattooing in the future but was wondering, do people sometimes want you to completely design a tattoo? Like if they say "I want a rabbit on a tree branch smoking a cigarette with flames under" do you just have to use your imagination to draw that up? Or even if they have a reference, you have to copy that reference and design what they tell you? If so, how hard is that?

apart from the moral issues around AI, I think the problem with using it for tattoo designs is that AI makes mistakes. If you use real photo's to create a design, you're gonna be 100% sure that everything is where it should be. With AI, you don't have that guarantee. You don't want people having to walk around with tattoos that have trees blending into each other and fingers with too many joints etc. If you can't draw it you should just use real pictures as references in my opinion
