    EXCELLENT videos which I saved for future use. You exhibit the motto of Mercedes, "Only the Best". Your son will benefit in so many ways, your family will be safer in the already safest vehicle ever produced, and I am now a loyal follower. Thank you for such thorough videos & your high morals in giving credit to those you have viewed and used for the right way to maintain any vehicle responsibly.

    Awesome video!! I just did mine yesterday without removing the bumper, but I did use a drop cloth to cover the vehicle. The results were much better than I thought they would be. Thanks a lot!!!

    I applaud the Car D. Ologist for an excellent presentation. Changing bulbs on the Mercedes is a hellishly difficult job. Removing the bumper is a small price in time to make to replace any or all the bulbs.

    I love your videos - even those that I don't need to work on the vehicle. :) Excellent instructions with perfect images, and great narrative. I feel like I'm watching a surgery instruction video with a doctor commentary, like a cardiologist, for example. :))

    I also restored the headlights on my 06 211 but i didnt remove the bumper..just used masking tape,3m restorer kit and finally ceramic coating to protect the finish.

    Excellent presentation and workmanship. You've given me the added confidence to do this project myself. A special thanks for your thoroughness in showing how to properly remove and install the bumper. Your effort very much appreciated.

    Unfortunately, I’ve had to access my headlights three times (once to convert to HID, twice due to aftermarket ballast failures), and this video has been invaluable. But what I would suggest rather than restoring the original lenses is replacing them. I did this with my headlights when I converted them to HID. There are eBay sellers selling a very high-quality replacement lens from China. You have to bake the headlight to remove the original lens, then seal the new one with butyl. But all in all probably less work than buffing them out, and the results are stellar. Like new.

    All you need to do is wet sand them and polish them. High speed polishing is the cure. Clear coat is a waste of money and more importantly you do not wax fresh paint or clear coat for at least one month depending on the product. If they're still foggy, its on the inside, in which case you need to heat the seal to open it and polish the inside the same way.

    Nice job- many newer vehicles need to remove the bumper, I think the newer Jeep GC requires that. I have a 96 GC and the dealer wanted 55.00 for the Mopar restoration kit and I bought new ones on ebay for under 40.00. That's crazy $$$$ for new headlights
    Good idea that you replaced the bulbs while you had the opportunity
    Sucks about that inferior wire sheathing, especially when someone buys a MB, you know with any good thing many times there are negatives

  • @tonkatoytruck

    Thanks for taking time to document the removal of the front bumper. I need to replace a fog light and this will make things much easier.
    Do you think the AMG sport package will pose any additional difficulties?
    P.S. The cost for the corner following headlight assembly is $1500 per side! They also have a special coating that keeps them fading as fast but also can not be polished out.
    I also recommend using dielectric grease when reinstalling the connectors. Not required, just recommended.

    It won't last long after clean, I did that many times like that, maybe few months later turn back to blurry again , change the lens better if you already remove the headlights. Only cost $50-75 for the new lens and $8 glue. about 3 hours job. but last few years long.

    • @vladimirvladimir3143

      you can't apply clear coat after wax - it won't hold in place. the correct order is sand, polish, clear coat and then wax and buff.

  • @pedrothemexican3360

    Sheesh. If your going to remove the entire assembly, why not just separate the clear plastic piece and just replace those. A pair of new ones can be found for around $40. It is super easy to replace them. Just heat them in the oven at around 190 degrees for half an hour to soften up the sealant, separate them with a couple trim tools, and re-apply windshield sealant and new clear covers. A lot less work than this.

    You dont have to remove the bumper completely. You do have to loosen the screws and also remove the metal clamp holding the bumper to the front q panel on the inside of the side marker lights which is probably the hardest part if it all. I changed my lenses only in about 90 minutes and the lights look brand new. You can remove the whole bumper if you wish but it's not necessary. Make sure you unhook the headlight washer fluid hose if your car is equipped with headlight washers. The lights come out pretty easy.

    • @vladimirvladimir3143
      @vladimirvladimir3143 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is what I'm about to do. As far as I understood, I need to remove the 2 top screws near the headlight, the metal clamp "inside" holding the bumper and side panel together, right? Do I have to loosen/remove the lower bumper screw near the radiator as well?

    • @SuperMarioFan72
      @SuperMarioFan72 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vladimirvladimir3143 If I remember correctly, I didn’t remove the bottom screws holding the bumper to the underside of the car. Once the top side of the bumper is released you can then get the headlight housing out to remove the old bulb retainer clips. Pay special attention to the washer fluid hose if your car has that. And also before putting the bumper back on, test your lights to make sure they don’t trigger an error code since led bulbs use much less wattage. The computer could think the bulb is not on and it could trigger a light bulb out error. I had that happen on when I changed my fog lights from halogen to led and I fixed it by installing an 8 ohm resistor

    • @vladimirvladimir3143
      @vladimirvladimir3143 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SuperMarioFan72 Hi Frank, thank you for you reply. I will try that - the two bottom screws would definitely save some hassle. :) I plan removing the headlight completely in order to replace the acrylic covers and whole projector assemblies reusing the xenon bulbs.
