Thank you so much for caring, something should change in the way some humans treat these poor innocent animals as crap at the bottom of there shoes. So relieved, that at least this little soul has been saved.
We also need to educate and help people to keep their dogs. I had my dog neutered, microchipped and bought 12!months of Heartguard 271 dollars. Hard for low income people to,afford
This dog looks exactly like my dog. My dogs hair is as long as this dogs and we literally always have to cut it because it gets to long to the point where he can't see and his long hair gets tangled. It sucks because in order for us to shave his hair we have to take him to the vet and put him to sleep because he's afraid of the groomers because this one time a lady cut and basically abused my dog.
Have you tries cutting his hair yourself, just with scissors? Here's my idea of how you might be able to do that. Let him get used to the scissors first, just an something on the floor near his bed, or wherever he sleeps most, give him treats, then maybe put them in his bed a day or two later, more treats. Let him take as long as he needs to get used to them before ever using them. Be patient. If he won't go in his bed with them there, maybe a different place, like when he sits on your lap or when you spend time close to him. But it needs to be a place where you both spend time together regularly. Just this first part of the process could take a week or more, you never know. But if you love him you won't mind that. Take your time, all the time he needs to feel relaxed and happy. Don't be impatient, nothing's his fault. :¬) When he's finally comfortable with the presence of the scissors, pet him and talk to him gently and stroke him with them maybe just once and give him a treat. Always talk to him in a calm quiet way and pet him. After a while, you could stroke him with them some more. Eventually stroking him all over with them while you pet him as well. More treats. Some time during this, you could be gently handling his fur, as well as petting him, like you might when you want to cut it. And when you think he's ready, that's the first time you should open and close the scissors. Treats. Scissors do make a little noise, so he needs to hear that when he's happy. Eventually, when you know he's happy with the scissors sound, and you handling his fur, you could take just one little cut. Maybe leave it after that till the next day. If you only do a little bit each day it's fine. Never be impatient with him during any of this time and only start once you know you have lots of time available. And treats.
ChuckPlains Thank You this helps sooo much!!! I'm going to start doing this now because summer is around the corner and I don't want him to get some kind of heat stroke. Thank You so much!! 😊
The people who let their animals go like this need a kick up the arse and a year in jail! It is a privilege to share their life with an animal, and obviously 90% of people should NEVER own an animal. Animals have so much more respect for people than people have for animals. Such a shame. USA needs to vet people a lot more than they do and make sterilization, microchipping compulsory, along with licensing. Those that have an attitude of getting an animal and NOT allowing it in the house to be part of the family should be BANNED from owning an animal.
There is a very specific protocol that requires you to contact Detroit Animal Care and Control first. Which we are doing. they have never responded to any call in by the WA2S. We are cataloging every call to DACC that is not being responded to so local rescues do not have to suffer abuse at the hands of DACC when they do pick up a dog - and it can be shown DACC did not do their job in the field.
Thank you for the response. However, my question wasn't answered. Perhaps, I should clarify and educate. Detroit Animal Care and Control is a high KILL shelter. Had they done their job in the field and caught the pup--Halo will be euthanized if she isn't claimed or adopted. Also, the vets in any Animal Care and Control shelter usually do not provide reputable quality care. When you put an animal in an Animal Care and Control, do you monitor their progress? Is the animal receiving quality care from reputable veterinarian? If a no-kill rescue organization claims the animal, are they legitimate? Will they provide quality care by either a reputable in-house or private veterinarian?
DACC is a historically a very high kill shelter. It does not change the requirement to call them. They must be called. Further, if they do actually show up and take the dog, we have record of the dog and the pick up and they will need to answer to our constituents who may not like them killing the dog. We are creating viable and vital information about these dogs in the city and cataloging the behavior of the authorized agencies working the issues in Detroit. You can't hide when the scenario was recorded. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Stay tuned. Better yet, subscribe.
Thank you! I am subscribed. Other questions: How does DACC know, in fact, there are constituents advocating and requesting not to kill the dog? Does the DACC actually comply? If DACC does not comply, is there a harsh penalty? If so, what is the punishment? I apologize for all the questions. I need to know that we are truly on the side of these wonderful creatures and that is not just lip service. PS: How is Halo doing? Please share an update. Thank you.
+Maritza DACC knows we are filming. There is no penalty for killing the dogs, that is something they are authorized to do. However, with a dog picked up in front of our cameras, they know everyone will know. We have a question for you. How many dogs does DACC pick up every day? How do you know how many if they aren't filmed? What happens to the dogs taken in that are not filmed? How do you follow their stories? Most specifically. We have to call it in, its the law. And when we use the law in our favor, we can compell the powers in charge to comply with the citizens' wishes. Nobody wants these dogs killed. Ever.

Isn't Animal Care and Control a kill shelter?? Not sure if sending the pup there is a good idea.

demoran mucho en actuar, hablan demasiado y al final uno no ve el procedimiento completo, es aburrido.
