Why the fans were screaming their heads off(esp during BOM's parts) when they appeared and performed was bc almsot NO ONE, and i literally mean NO ONE knew they were even in hong kong. Even the reporters, cameramen, producers and directors didn't know. Only one main PD knew but kept it a secret from all the staffs. It was like a top secret mission for them. The girls had to secretly fly in to hong kong and go to the venue. 2NE1 wasn't even in the official lineup except CL who was supposed to only perform on her own. So basically the whole world didn't know about 2NE1's surprise stage except 2NE1 themselves, their managers, drivers, main PD and dancers. So everything went wild that day.

I remember watching this performance while MAMA was going on and let me tell you.... I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN MORE EMOTIONAL THAN WHEN THESE GIRLS CAME OUT!!.. Like CL disappeared and all the sudden without any warning.... DARA MINZY AND BOM!!!!!! I honestly didn't know what to do with myself, I was screaming and crying and trembling so hard I SOUNDED LIKE A DYING WHALE!!!! I couldn't even hold my phone properly because I was shaking so much o.o ..... But anyways....

If you're not aware; this is Bom's first appearance after her drug scandal. Fans were very surprised to see 2NE1's appearance at Mama. Korean Netizens though threw a shit fit (no seriously they did) as to why Bom reappeared because she was suppose to be "reflecting" on her scandal. International fans were the opposite. But if you noticed; during the performance the camera were not on Bom much. Which goes to show that even the event people themselves were not sure how fans would react to all the 2NE1 member's appearance at the show. It had a positive and negative affect.
BTW Josh; it is true that some trainees do become background dancers for experience. But there are already background dancers that works for multiple entertainments (not just one because you can see the same person perform for many different groups or singers as their background dancer).
The gold mic that CL was holding. 2NE1 each have their own colored mic. If you watch a lot of their lives (which you guys probably don't so I'll say this) at every performance they always have their own colored mic. This is the only group I've seen that has that.

Honestly, watching this performance while it was playing live was crazy. There was no spoiler that 2NE1 was going to be there. It was just *BAM* surprise bishes, welcome back the queens. And I'm not even much of a 2NE1 fan. But they killed that performance. Anyway, first time I'm early to one of your reactions lol.

Yeah 2ne1 is on a Hiatus at the moment so it was really shocking to see them. Park Bom (red head) was involved in a scandal some years back and it was brought up again last year; so she hasn't been seen in a year. That's why the fan chants for her were crazy. And Lol CL is not the only female member of 2ne1 who is soloist. Park Bom actually is a soloist of YG. I believe she is the first soloist of the group. She just never branched off into America. But yeah 2ne1 slayed mama this year was epic. But whats really funny is that each member caught separate flights. No practices for these performances at all... Zero... Had they been caught together than fans would have figured it out. They didn't even see each other until the performance. A year break from no performances and not being together and they are still in sync.
I don't think they didn't practice. I mean it's impossible they didn't do any practice for a big event like this. The fact is they (whole YG people and the event organizer) kept their performance secret until the last minute. They used different flight, didn't do any reherseal, didn't have a special waiting room...it's part of their plan to surprise all MAMA audiences and blackjacks.
+Raushan Darrell They did practice, which is why there was pics of Bom going in and out of YG, but nobody knew, apart from the executive producer of the awards show. They didn't even rehearse at the venue, so the cameramen didn't know to film it properly, which is why camera's didn't catch Bom's iconic bow.
+Raushan Darrell Also, that "scandal" happened years ago but it was found out recently, second of all, that scandal is ridiculous because she was taking medication for mental health issues that were LEGAL in America (because she was treated here), but illegal in Korea for some unknown reason.

Korea apparently has a BIG anti-drug culture, so even though it was medication all they say was "MORPHINE!!!!!" or whatever drug it was. There have been idols that have done jail time, criminally charged, and quit their careers because of weed
Fun fact: Bom went solo first with "You And I" in 2009 and then again with "Don't Cry" in 2011 and is (i guess) the most successful member with her sales(You&I with 4.4 Million and Don't Cry with 2.5 million). Dara went solo next with "Kiss" then CL had her solo chance with "Baddest Female", "MTBD", and now "Hello Bitches". Minzy is the only member who has yet to have a solo song.
It's amazing how 2NE1 were able to wing it (no group rehearsal) and still bring the arena down. Monumental final performance before their disbandment. I hope the stars align for a reunion album and reunion tour.
I love how Josh was dancing along to the performance! The reason the screams were loud were because fans were surprised to see Park Bom (the redhead). She's been in "hiding" since the end of last year because she was being bashed by Netizens about a drug "scandal" that occurred a few years ago and was already resolved. So because Knetz were unhappy with her, she basically retreated away from the public eye and was hidden for all of this year. Granted, 2NE1 as a whole was a huge surprise because only CL was mentioned to be performing, so you can imagine why the huge response when all of the members appeared. It was later reported that not many people knew of 2NE1's surprise performance, only a few, mainly the executive producer of the awards show.
Personally, when I was streaming this performance live, I got a bit excited when I saw Dara (the first girl who popped up with the long ponytail) because I thought maybe Dara was a guest appearance to accompany CL. Then Minzy came up and I was like "no way". Then Bom appeared and I teared because finally, a sign that she was doing okay and that she's back. Sorry for such a long comment, but this performance was a bit emotional for me. I re-watch it every few days and every single time I watch it, I get a chill when I see Bom appear (even though CL is my bias xD). The power of 2NE1~~ Queens

Before this performance Bom (girl with red hair) was hiatus for about a year because of a scandal. No one except for the PD knew that all of 2ne1 would appear. All we knew was CL was going to perform. As a blackjack this performance made me cry because seeing Bom was shocking and unexpected and I just missed seeing her. 2ne1 as a whole and as individuals get a lot of hate and rumors by knetizens and I think this performance was to shut those haters up and also a gift for blackjacks who have also suffered.
i cried when i first watched this on youtube 2ne1 was one of the few girl groups i loved when i got into kpop i was like 15 or so when bom came up i lost it if i could scream i would of lost my voice just by watching it i missed them so much i didnt think it would hit me so hard i was just silently saying yas queens yass while dancing lol! when fire came out first song ever from them they slayed my entire existence minzy and that split like yass! i hope they have an offical comeback :)

Just like others have mentioned that no one knew 2ne1 was performing except the executive producer. They did not rehearse at all for that stage they were also in separate rooms before they went together on stage... no rehearsal, everyone flew in separately, but they became one on stage.

I don't know if you know what was going on with 2ne1. One of the members was involved in a scandal last year durin the summer which made 2ne1 basically not perform together for a whole year. This was their first time performing since the scandal. It was a surprise for the fans so no one knew about it.
I wonder if you know about what happen to 2ne1 in the last year. Because no one knew that 2ne1 will be there, only the producer of the event. And them they appeared on the stage with the four members (because park bom was in hiatus). That's why there so many screams, all the fans are now very happy.

2NE1 is not supposed to be there and the stage is for CL only for her american debut. No one knows about it except one of the production staff. They didn't even practice their performance. as i know it. That's why i did not expect any fireworks, fire, confetti or whatever in their performance. What i'm disappointed about is that they didn't focus on BOM where she's suppose to punch but what she did is bow 90 degrees to everyone. i think that's that most important part of their performance other than performing as a group after years of hiatus.

Yeah the fanchants was crazy especially for Park Bom (the red haired one) because this is her official appearance in public after she went 'reflecting' (and it means basically disappear from the world huh) because of the drug scandal a year ago. And also because it's a surprise performance, no one knows that 2NE1 will perform (they're not listed in the performer list) and it's their performance together as 4 after a year and a couple months (sobs). Glad you enjoyed it, maybe you should check Park Bom's solo because her voice is one of a kind!

Fun fact, for those who aren't aware :p -That dance group is from New Zealand, the ReQuest Dance crew + their choreographer, Parris Goebel, who was the woman on the chain in BIGBANG's Bang Bang Bang. They are also the dance group who choreographed, and is in Justin Bieber's Sorry music video :)

CL isn't the only one that has gone solo, Bom and Dara actually had solo songs before her, so like I've commented earlier PLEASE react to the solo dogs of their main vocalist Bom, she has an amazing and unique voice that no one else in kpop has. React to her songs "You and I" and "Don't Cry" she actually really good sales and I'm pretty sure "Don't Cry" did better than CL's "Baddest Female"

The thing though, is YG likes and picks trainees (who eventually get the possibility to become idols) who know and act like they are the best. He doesn't settle for any less, and that's what he wants. He mentioned that he told all his idols that at least on stage, you gotta be bad and badass and feel like you're the best and swag it out. So yeah haha just look at Big Bang, 2ne1, Ikon, Winner, most of the members (at least on stage) sing and dance like they are the best :D

Fun fact: Kahi, former leader of After School, started as a back up dancer. I've heard that some people that can't make it as idols are delegated to other roles (eg manger) to pay back all the money they owe to the entertainment company (look into the cruel trainee schemes and the idol slave contracts)

"I am the Best" was written after the YG CEO publicly called 2NE! ugly. This was followed by hundreds of slanders by netizens calling them ugly. "I am the Best" responds that 2NE1 are the best because they are beautiful and every one watches them.
A lot od idol rookies who haven't debuted are backup dancers. Some of the idols who have already debuted were back up dancers in the past.
ok so i need to go through all your videos now before i comment ;P and yes that is paris goebel and her girls :) try watching 2ne1 tv...you get alot of their behind the scene lives. and no the dancers are dancers from big dance companies that want to be dancers. I have been one myself. Oh and the reasons the crowd is going nuts over Park bom is because that is the first time she is on stage after that horrible scandal. And it was a surprise performance just for their blackjacks!!! we all screamed and cried like crazy over this :) you should check out some of the fancams of this where bom took a bow!!! and the fans went crazy!!!! we want our queens back...so sad minzy isnt part of it anymore :(

Akbar's right about the back up dancers thing. In some cases, that is. Just take the Kwon twins for example (if you don't know who the Kwon twins are, they're both dancers for HITECH and usually perform for YG artists). Anyway, one of the twins (if not both, I kinda forgot haha) was actually part of Team A a couple of years back but I don't know what happened, they didn't make it to WIN. Other examples include Gahee of After School or should I say former member of AS. She was a back up dancer for several artists including JinuSean. Some EXO members also danced for SHINee during their trainees. And hey, even Big Bang used to dance for Se7en back then! Haha I guess it's a part of their training, gaining exposure and all that.

The reason you can't hear her is because she was in some legal problems and no one knew if 2NE1 was going to perform, because without Bom there is no 2NE1. So everyone is happy she is back.
