Several years ago as we were visiting the Battlefield, I was sitting on a rock on top of Little Roundtop trying to imagine the battle. As I sat there I had the feeling that someone was sitting next to me. I can't explain it in words, I didn't see any ghostly image, I didn't hear any ghostly sounds, I just had the very strong feeling that I was in the company of someone.

Wow!! You’ve do same description than me , when i try to explain to someone what i feel at my grand grand fathers house. I can’t see no one, i can’t hear nothing , bur i feel something close to me , that watch me and chase me at home. I feel not very unconfortable at all; because it is one of my ancestors .
We believe that is my grand grand father Manuel , who was killed in the Spanish Civil War , on 1936 and his body never was found, at the house walls his son, my grand father , place a Tombstone , with his fathers name and the date of his death.
      Best regards from Spain...
Different country, different continent , but same feeling!!

My moms friend Ella Otis was the great granddaughter of Union GeneralGoverneur K. WARREN, who noticed the Confederates advancing through the Cornfield, given away by the glint of their bayonets in the sun. He called for reinforcements for Little Round top just before the Confederate assault. She stood by his statue there, i saw the photo she provided. From the time she was very young she was drawn to this site, and finally was able to go when she was in her 80s

Visited Gettysburg with my family. Me and my mom decided we wanted to visit big round top and I got this overwhelming need to go into the forest. We both went on a small hike and at this time it was quiet and near the end of tourist season so not a lot of people. While walking between some boulders we both stopped and I asked if she heard footsteps behind us. No one was around and we kept hearing the sounds of footsteps follow us for quite a ways. Then at one point we decided to go back and we stopped to rest on a boulder. Then we could hear horses hooves trotting and cantering close enough that we would have seen them and fade away then it got eerily quite. We decided it was time to get up and right as we got up we heard a man scream "HELP! HELP ME!". We booked it back and when we got to where we parked the car there was a park guide there. He automatically asked us if we had witnessed something and when we told him without missing a beat he said things like that are commonly heard in that area.

When I was about 12 our family took a trip to Gettysburg. We toured the battlefields in what I remember to be a open top tour bus. About midway through the tour I observed a company of union soldiers marching in an open field. I looked for a few moments and turned to my father to point them out. When I turned back they were gone...just gone. The guy in front of me said to his wife, "Did you see that! Did you see that! I was very confused until I got older and began to research these sightings. I didn't feel scared or threatened in any way, I can remember just wondering where they went.

This is the most common type of sighting ar Gettysburg, it's a residual haunting. The earth has somehow created a copy of an incident in time and replays it at random intervals when things are just right.

What you saw was "a place in time" or blip in time. This is because the iron and quartz content of the soil record the intense activities and sounds. At the right time and conditions, these will play back. I believe this because everyone in my family has experienced the music from a band at one particular spot on my property. My property was once part of a park where the local town band frequently played from 1890's until 1914.

Only place I felt creeped out was at Devils Den. First I had the photos of the dead in mind. Second, years ago I heard a first hand story about a Confederate soldier who appeared like a normal person to a visitor. She thought it was a re-enactor. She was lost and he gave her directions. She turned her head then looked back to thank him but he had vanished. Later I discovered that others had the same experience when they were alone and appearing lost. So I tried not to act lost but I admit I was nervous.

Agree, even though I discover a lot of ghosts (with proper equipment), my primary interest is the history and paying respect. I do not patronize the Ghost vendors for this reason; end up with too many teens running around Devil's Den often yelling, laughing and being disrespectful when scaring themselves. Getting ridiculous. Most aren't professional.

One of them had a box he was messing with while the other watched ahead like he was spotting him. Drove passed them without thinking about it until I saw some of these "haunted gettysburg videos" so I looked it up when I got home. No scheduled reenactments that day... I live a 1/2 hr from Gettysburg. I go there quite often. I myself have had at least 3 experiences at the Battlefield. One left the person I was with so terrified they ran to the car and never went back. Another we were walking a trail that used to be in the woods that used to be where the triangular field is. (They have since cleared the trees to make it more authentic to the time of the battle) It was my then boyfriend and 3 of his friends from out of town we took there. We were taking pictures and in his one friends photo we captured another person standing behind our friend that wasn't there. He seemed to be mimicking the person he was behind. Right before this happened all the crickets and bugs went silent. We were thoroughly creeped out and left. The final time was at Reynolds Woods and it involved a phantom car and tourists that just appeared out of nowhere. The roads around it are both 1 way and we were at the monument where you can see the roads clearly. Never saw a car, never heard a car but it was just getting to the dark time right before you have to be off the battlefield. As we were walking back to the car we saw a group of people standing off to the side but we never heard them, no talking, no walking not a sound. We get to our car and there is a car parked directly in front of mine that had not been there and like I said we never saw it drive up. We get in the car I put the key in and turn on the car (which turns off the interior light, you couldn't see outside it was so dark while the light was on). As soon as the interior light shut off and I flip my headlights on the car is gone. We never heard people get in it, no car door, no car starting we never saw head or tail lights it was just gone that quick and so were the people. My husband still talks about it and we were down another time and had talked to a tour guide. Apparently we are not the only one to have seen the phantom tourists. They have been seen before. I know, I know everyone thinks yeah right. All I can say is go for yourself someday, from the moment you set foot in Gettysburg there is just a different feeling. The one restaurant downtown I will not use the ladies room I always feel like someone is standing behind me while I wash my hands to the point you fear looking in the mirror. Everyone always says they want to go to the "battlefield" the moment you set foot in any part of the Town you are on the battlefield. The dead were everywhere. While it is such a beautiful peaceful place today you can't help but feel the horror and death those soldiers faced while there. So much blood spilled and absorbed into the soil there, for all we know there are still bodies in the fields as well. They laid for days until people could get to them to bury them, some where they fell, some were later exhumed to be taken home. I'm sure there are many in the fields that were never returned home.

michael loves Jesus The restaurant is Gettysburg Eddies. Named after a ball player from the town. I would definitely suggest Farnsworth house though. They advertise they are haunted. Gettysburg eddies does not. It's just a feeling I get when I have gone in. Gettysburg is a great vacation getaway though. Relaxing, beautiful scenery plus if you are internet savvy you can find a lot nearby to see as well. Wineries, orchards, Mr. Ed' s elephant museum. Plus Hershey isn't far away either. I seriously should be paid by PA tourism.

Bring your camera and ask the lady there if you can take her pic in the window. Dowsing rods work great there too. A little girl there (Sarah) is really angry and will kick you. Both Union and Confederate ghosts are there too. When we were done and saying goodbye to a male spirit, he didn't want us to leave so he closed the door right in front of us. If you can't get in, there's more ghosts on the land the house sits on.

I’d call this crazy if I hadn’t seen the image of my great grandfather looking at me when I was 9 years old. I remember it like yesterday. He died in 1925, long before my time. In 1993 I saw his face looking at me from outside my second story window. I knew it was him from pictures my dad had shown me. I turned away 3 times to be sure of what I was seeing and all 3 times he was still there. I decided to just not look at the window anymore and go to sleep. If it happened again as a adult it would have scared the living hell out of me

I'm was and still am a huge fan of "Unsolved Mysteries". There are episodes of Civil War Ghosts stories (personal stories) of people that have seen ghosts or ghost scenes at both the California Civil War museum (Drum Barracks) and at the Civil War battlefield State historical park in Virginia. Two visitors living today visited the Virginia Civil war battlefield park recently, and while walking the park met up with a man dressed in an authentic Civil War uniform gave the males visitors civil war bullets that when examine by the experts. The experts maintained that the bullets were brand new and never used (sealed) and that they were authentic! Whether you believe in ghost or not these stories are interesting!

I had a similar experience at Gettysburg a few years ago. Just left the battlefield at dusk. Was very hungry so pulled into the McDonald's drive thru and ordered a #2. Pulled around. and there at the pickup window was General Jeb Stuart. He didn't say a word ...just took my money and gave change then handed me my order. Found out later that he shorted me on the fries.

Like watching a video version of the National Enquirer. I've been out there every year since 1985 and never had a paranormal experience nor have my colleagues who accompanied me.. The ghosts at Gettysburg phenomenon started in the 1990s which happens to coincide with people starting to make money on ghost books and tours. Today, there are scores of books and tours available for visitors but most all of these stories are not historical in nature. The Civil War Trust’s historian once heard a ghost story told in 1993. It was presented as fiction, but it only took three months until it was in a book as fact. By all means, believe what you want to believe but please know that if water gets on a camera lens, it’s water-not a ghostly “orb.” If sun shines into a camera lens, it’s called sunlight, not an “energy sphere."

    • @UnexplainedCases

Indeed, somethings are not paranormal and there has been a great amount of commercialization in this field. However, having documented this field for years and experienced things that are unexplainable...these experiences are not on schedule. More often than not, capturing evidence on media is difficult and experiencing it in person is rare.

. . ✨ I have been witness to a swirling fog type of phenomena, it came out of nowhere , disappeared as quickly as it started. . .this happened on a sunny afternoon in April (the 14th actually in 2010), there was no rain or conditions that would’ve produced fog
for that afternoon. . .years later I understood the phenomena for what it was because many unusual things happened later in the same day which I had to tie to the fog occurrence➖
. . ✨ Speaking on the units of men appearing in the field, one of you witnessed 5 and another saw 4, in total there were 9 units . . .I’m wondering if they were captured and held prisoner by the opposing side, that they never reunited with their regiment or
possibly went awol . . .we’ll never know . . .thanks too in bringing your (collective) sighting to this video for all of us to see, hear and imagine . . .✨

One of the most interesting stories because of so many people seeing the same soldiers at once then another group seeing a different set at another time.Maybe it was the time of year, maybe it was the weather conditions with fog being a catalyst w/ electro magnetic energy and they were open to seeing a replay of the past,or maybe the soldiers wanted them to see and remember them and pray for them?

Been to Gettysburg many times, I have land down on Marsh Creek, although I have never experienced anything myself I don’t doubt that some do. However when you think about it Gettysburg actually has fewer deaths in the area then many other places, take NYC for example, certainly there have been many more people murdered there than at Gettysburg so perhaps it’s something about the land there that gives off these vibes. The locals have legends about a great Indian battle having been fought there as well many centuries ago, certainly my land, about a mile south of Big Round Top is pretty eerie, especially at night, actually of all the places in Gettysburg, and I have seen the entire battlefield, it’s that land that I think is the creepiest. Marsh Creek and the Emmitsburg Road is where the First and Eleventh Corps bivouacked the night before the battle.

One of the 20 or so people would have had a camera to take given what you told them. In addition you said the evening after a guy purposely went out to try to witness an event but mysteriously did not take a camera. Oh and you can take pictures at night without a flash and see things, just set the iso or exposure right (my old pocket camera could do that too)

If you have extremely great headphones, and I mean extremely great, crank it up. You will be on the ride for your life hearing all the evps not normally heard with regular headphones. The camera lady didn't even notice the soldier walking past through the field at around 11:49. He wears a white shirt. If you listen to it, it is very long. But sooo worth it. If you do, let me know at what moment you hear the demon laughing heinously.

I have three books about Ghosts of Gettysburg, I think by Mark Nesbitt. They are very creepy but very credible too. Ghosts seen by more than one person at the same time, just like these men reported. I just looked up the books online and there are many more in the series for those of you who want to know more about the paranormal at Gettysburg, both on the battlefield and in the town itself. I am a native of Kutztown and my HS history teacher was a ranger at Gettysburg for some time, I don't know how long. I have been to Gettysburg three or four times in my life, the first visit was around the time of the Civil War Centennial back in 1861 or so. I was pretty little but I was old enough to understand the basics about the Civil War in general and Gettysburg in particular. My parents instilled a great love of history in me by these visits to battlefields in PA and VA, and also other historic places like Monticello, Valley Forge and so on. There is so much wonderful history in PA.

We heard voices in the woods behind the light and giggling.
Sounded like little girls or very small children. It was around 11 or 10 pm mind you.
They started calling us over so I walked to the edge of the woods. They said come here and I said no you come out. This went on for 5 minutes or so and the person with me was creeped out and keep saying let's go.
I finally got creeped out so we left.

What I find strange is that so many ghost sightings at Gettysburg are on a loop, where the same actions by the ghosts are repeated. I have seen 5 different sightings of a ghost who is seated with his back against a large tree, who stands up, walks around the tree, and disappears, only to reappear and repeat the sequence for as long as people want to watch. I’ve also seen footage of a few soldiers repeatedly crossing a paved road, and a few of a different group crossing a wagon track in a field again and again. Although they are all misty and somewhat transparent, it’s obvious from caps and guns that they are soldiers. I’ve never seen a satisfactory explanation for this bizarre repetitive behavior (if ghosts can “behave”) and have come to believe that it’s some kind of hoax perpetrated by people living in the vicinity.
