    please make sure to use distilled water or himi’s activator spray, otherwise you run the risk of bacteria growth and your paints molding!

    Thank you, I got the 56 set for my birthday in February (this year) but I’m kind of scared to open it since I don’t really have the time or space to paint and I don’t want to ruin it before having actively used it in its “prime” so thank you!

    Another tip is to just refrigerate your gouache with the lid on and that's how you store it in the first place. Mine haven't dried up at all even after almost a year.

    would mixing it with watercolor binder such as gum arabic be helpful after rehydrating it? i ask mostly because that's what the liquid part of the gouache usually is, though the actual ingredient varies between brands

    I haven't used gouache colors for a while and when I opened the box today I found some mold on some of the colors😮😮😮😮. Is this normal??

    • @samwichcreates7060
      @samwichcreates7060  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I don't think that is normal. Mine never got mold on them. It could have been caused by something being on your brushes or in your water when you last used them, but I`m not sure. I don't know if you want to continue using them if they have mold though. Hope this helps:)

  • @Oozaru85
    @Oozaru85 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Yes, Gouache dries after a while. Just like any water-based paint. But unlike watercolor which is easy to reactivate and for which it's okay to dry, gouache does not reactivate as easily and therefore needs to be stored in an air-tight container, just like acrylics.
    Maybe people should do some research before they spend lots of money on art supplies.
    The aforementioned explenation is also the reason why I didn't get the HIMI Gouache and never will. You basically pay extra for a storage container that looks pretty but is totally useless.
