JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: Digital display flashing H1 on freezer side
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Who makes your freezer?
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: How old is it?
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: 7 yrs old Frigidaire
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: How long has this been going on with your Frigidaire freezer?
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: What have you tried so far?
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: yesterday, tried unplugging it and turning it off
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Is there anything else the Appliance Expert should know before I connect you?
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: no
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: Hello, this is Brandon, your appliance expert.
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: The H1 is simply indicating that it has detected higher temperatures and is alerting that a problem exists.
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: When that shows up on the freezer side first that often can be caused by an overheating issue like dirty coils or a condenser fan not running.
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: There are a number of other possible causes but that is the first thing that should be checked.
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: If you need specific direction the model number of the appliance may be needed.
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: FFSS2614QPO model #
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: Looking that up now.
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: The coils on this one are one the back, step one would be pulling it out and checking things are clean.
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: If they are, check for air flow while it is running, or if you remove the rear panel you can visually see if the fan is running.
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: You can also feel for heat, if it is cold back there it is likely the compressor simply isn't running.
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: Looking up the code H1 flashing says freezer sensor
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: On freezer side
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: Fan is running
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: The sensor can cause it, is the freezer still very cold?
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: Around zero degrees F?
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: the smaller thing is what's thawing out
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: I'm sorry I don't understand, what do you mean by smaller thing?
JustAnswer Customer from San Antonio, TX: Like frozen vegetables pizza rolls and such meats are frozen
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: OK, they may take longer to thaw in general, the H1 or HI indicates the sensor is measuring above 26 degrees F (or 55 for fridge side) so it may take some time for things to start to thaw.
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: I would think the sensor is accurate if smaller items are starting to thaw.
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: Are you able to tell if the compressor is running?
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: It can be difficult to tell by noise because the fan also makes noise near it, if you remove the rear panel you can feel it to see if it is vibrating.
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: Use caution, certain failures can cause it to be hot to the touch.
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: If the compressor is not running, that is usually caused by the start relay, especially if it starts then stops after a few seconds.
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: That is part number 297259515 If everything is running and the freezer is warming up, that is a sign of a serious problem where it may be best to simply replace the appliance.
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: I hope that information helps, if you need any additional assistance or have further questions please let me know.
Brandon Nelson: Home Appliance Technician: Thank you.
