      It's better to wear for at least 3 months. But if you're going to be standing for long periods, then wear it for a longer time.

    For problem in one leg which leg should be measured, the swollen one or the normal one?

    • @drsumitkapadia

      The measurements for stockings will be on the affected leg, but preferably in morning after you've kept your leg elevated overnight.

    • @drsumitkapadia
      @drsumitkapadia  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well, stockings are beneficial if you have varicose veins. If you dont have any visbile veins on one leg, you may avoid it. However, most people do not like the look of wearing socks only in one leg and hence feel better when it is worn on both legs. Your choice !

    • @drsumitkapadia
      @drsumitkapadia  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thigh stockings are not very comfortable to wear, especially in summers. Even though you have reticular veins in thigh, you would be ok to wear below knee regularly and thigh length stockings occasionally

    Sir can usage of stockings cure varicose veins??..or will it just control the disease??..if so then should one wear the stockings whole through the life??..is the ultimate treatment surgery only sir?

    • @drsumitkapadia
      @drsumitkapadia  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well, stockings only keep the veins under control. If there's no skin changes or complications, the veins can be managed with stockings. However, with modern methods, it's safe to treat them before complications occur.

    I'm a teacher in a private school. My timings are from 7.30 to 3.30. I started having pain but I thought its just me standing for a very long time. But few months ago, tiny, very very thin dark red and green lines started to appear especially on my left leg from my hips to the area around my ankle. I have excruciating pain every night and have hard time to sleep. My legs pain so much that I almost cry every night. I went to few doctors but didn't get satisfied answers. I purchased massage oil, bought light weight wooden roll massagers but nothing seems to work. I don't have any swelling and the red veins are thin as hair but the pain... What do I do to cure the pain?

    • @drsumitkapadia
      @drsumitkapadia  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The smaller reticular veins are highly unlikely to cause severe pain! The other causes of pain can be muscular weakness or nerve problems, so better to get evaluated by neurologist first and also get checked for vitamin deficiencies.

    • @drsumitkapadia

      The best are full thigh stockings, but most practical ones to wear are below knee ones. And they only help to keep the veins compressed and control the problem, not cure it!

      Class 1 are called as DVT stockings as they exert only mild pressure and can be worn by people who don't have any vein problem. So they are actually meant to be DVT prevention stockings, not to be used for treatment.
      Class 2 are generally recommended for those who have vein problems: either varicose veins or deep venous reflux.
      Class 3 are very tight to wear and should only be worn by people who have veno-lymphatic edema. Also, anyone advised these Class 3 should be able to wear Class 2 easily and comfortably for a few months before they shift to Class 3
