LYRICS:
The Lord is my shepherd; therefore can I lack nothing.
He shall feed me in a green pasture, and lead me forth beside the waters of
comfort.
He shall convert my soul and bring me forth in the paths of righteousness, for his
Name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil;
For thou art with me: Thy rod and thy staff comfort me.
Thou shalt prepare a table for me against them that trouble me:
Thou hast anointed my head with oil and my cup shall be full.
But thy loving kindness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
(Psalm 23)
Visions and Rutter Requiem
John Rutter's latest major work Visions is a four-movement showpiece for solo violin, string orchestra, harp and choir of treble voices, based on the theme of Jerusalem, the Holy City of prophetic imaginations. It was composed at the invitation of the 2016 Menuhin Competition and premiered at a Festival concert in London's historic Temple Church by Kerson Leong, winner of the 2010 Junior Menuhin Prize, and the Choristers of the Temple Church. They are joined by the Cambridge Singers and the young and vibrant Aurora Orchestra.
Rutter's Requiem has enjoyed immense popularity since its premiere recording in 1986. 30 years on, John Rutter takes advantage of advances in recording technology to revisit the work with a new generation of Cambridge Singers.
John Rutter, English composer and conductor, is associated with choral music throughout the world. His recordings with the Cambridge Singers (the professional chamber choir he set up in 1983) have reached a wide global audience, many of them featuring his own music in definitive versions. Among John’s best-known choral works are Gloria, Requiem, Magnificat, Mass of the Children, and Visions, together with many church anthems, choral songs and Christmas carols.

I could not listen to this piece of music for years after it was played at my son's funeral. I am happy to be able to listen to this wonderful music again and have even done the entire Requiem with my choir (sop2) as music continues to be my source of healing as I trod on.
🙏❤️🌹
❤️
I understand. I sob every time. But it's a holy cry. Cleansing. Painful as it is.
❤️ from korea
you deserve to be happy ❤️ it’s what he would want
I have left Ukraine recently and my heart is breaking and it is hard to find any comfort and peace. But thank God for John Rutter 🙏
Yes it is great to be Christian. Thank you John Rutter
My beautiful mum chose this to be played at her funeral 😔
I love all of John Rutter's arrangements. The oboe solo here is beautiful. My favorite part is..."And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Amen.
This piece was sung at my first wife's funeral. It is one of the most moving choral works I have ever heard or sung.
I sang in the choir who opened for him at Carnegie Hall. I have his autograph and songbook. What a delightful experience it was.
Lucky 🙂
Congratulations! What a thrill and experience for you! God bless you!
It's great to be a Christian ......
@ginsa Kinslow amen to that ...
Our church choir did the Requiem years ago, I still remember most of the words. My daughter was soprano soloist. One proud moment as a parent. This is my nightly bedtime prayer.
대학교 합창단 때 불렀던 찬송. 지금도 내 마음에 평화를 안겨주네
I met John Rutter years ago when I was in a youth choir. We sang his songs as he directed us!!! It was awesome!
This music is so comforting...
The lord is my shepherd:
therefore can I lack nothing.
He shall feed me in a green pasture:
and lead me forth beside the waters of comfort.
He shall convert my soul:
and bring me forth in the paths of righteousness,
for his Name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff comfort me.
Thou shalt prepare a table before me against them
that trouble me:
thou hast anointed my head with oil,
and my cup shall be full.
But thy loving-kindness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the
Lord for ever.
Psalm 23
Thank you for your words 🫶🏻
Exquisite. If this doesn't move you, check your pulse
All perfect, the last soprano sound is marvelous
Doug, This music is extraordinarily beautiful. You are so lucky to be able to sing it. I guess I’m jealous and a bit envious.
Congratulations, peace to you.
Absolutely breathtaking, sends a shiver down my spine and gives me chills every time I listen to it.
What an absolutely devine piece of music. If this doesn't stir emotions I don't know what does. I love John Rutters compositions.
Such holy, reverent, and comforting music. Nobody has to know English to understand everything Christianity has to offer just from this song.
I STILL love this song. Heard it for the first time in college. Endless days I will sing Your praise. ❤️
Dear Heavenly Father, May Covid-19 be controlled, our Health Workers be protected, may our economy be strenthened and our normal life be restored. May we be more humble as Thou art being the Lamb of God. May we ever be grateful for thy bounteous mercy and compassion. May we be ever worthy of the companionship of the Holy Ghost. May we always learn to be submissive to thy will. May our hearts be more forgiving and tolerant to other's imperfections. May we learn to speak kindly to one another. May thou protect our little children, the elderly, the sick, the afflicted, the less fortunate, thy poor children all over the globe. May thou sustain us in our helplessness and may we always call upon thy name. In the sacred name of thy Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer and our Great Shepherd. Amen
Well said ....
So beautiful, thank you, amen and amen 🙏🙏✝️✝️!
Close your eyes and feel the music...So moving and such a well written piece of music by John Rutter.
I feel peace and tranquility when I listen. To hear the solo oboe and the harp and the choir so soothing and relaxing. The flow is so precise and beautiful.
It has to be one of the most beautiful pieces of music written. Thank you for sharing this..
A track to return to for a wee bit of solace, it's so beautiful regardless of your beliefs or convictions, it's just beautiful x
So majestic and up lifting
One of the most beautiful pieces of music, I’ve ever heard. I can’t believe John Rutter, is an Atheist; at least for now. God’s not done with him yet 🙏🏽
Really beautiful!! ♥

Heard this today on the wireless, absolutely exquisite and beautiful x
You're very good and Rutter is really brilliant. My choir sang Candlelight Carol during one of our last performances using a new arrangement. Write this in the search: you will surely like it.

Jehová es mi pastor
Nada me faltará
Me guía por verdes pastos
Y me conduce junto a aguas tranquilas.
El me restaurará
Me lleva por los caminos íntegro
Por amor, por amor de su Nombre
Oh, aunque ande en valle de la sombra de muerte,
No tendré miedo
