Such a good game man. I just saw your speed run for crono trigger for the first time the other day at GDQ One of the best things I’ve ever seen. I like how I can tell you just truly deep down love these games as much as I do
Try this on the PS1 version, or better yet, the DS Remake. Good luck with these levels and getting this kind of RNG! Seriously, the DS version is one of the hardest turn-based RPGs ever made.
The refight with the 4 Fiends is actually programmed as 1 monster, that the game changes the sprite appearance & HP of throughout the fight as certain amounts of damage are dealt. Doing most of the damage via spells reflected off of my own characters will skip most of those fiend change triggers, and make for a much faster & safer fight (it's a bit more complicated behind the scenes, but that's probably the easiest way to explain it). Back & forth walking is to manipulate random battles, both to skip several of them over the course of the run & to guarantee the Searcher/D.Machin fight in the Giant that I need to grind levels for Rosa off of.

It's a underflow glitch with FF4's inventory system - you're able to create an item slot that has a negative quantity of shields, and then sell that slot for a huge amount of money.
