I love DMC4, but I think the 0.1% of fans that care about intertia and reversals have critically oversold the game. DMC4 is fun mess, but a mess all the same, DMC5 may lack some cool tech, but I'd rather have a game that's actually finished. DMC4 is still legendary for what it gets right, but some of the level design and enemies are straight garbo.
I agree 100% DMC4 combat wise is phenomenal but everything around it holds it back making it a difficult game to go back to making the learning process of these mechanics a bit less appealing
@@Devil-Joe I sometimes think of what a feature complete DMC4 would be like, but I also question if the weird tech would've been removed had the game gone through another QA pass, being seen as weird bugs rather than fun tech. I think part of the reason DMC4 turned out the way it did, was specifically because it was this rushed, unfinished mess. Still though, a DMC4 with actual Dante levels and more enemy variety..... that's the stuff dreams are made of.
@DanielSantosAnalysis well in that reality Inertia and Reversals wouldn't have been a thing but DMC4 would have been a much more memorable game than the one we got we could have even got some more bosses to fight as Dante
Bro is spitting facts, when talking about those mechanics being oversold.
However, after learning about the theory of "DT Explosion/Inertia/Quadruple S representing Dante's control of his demonic energy", I'd rather to see Inertia be part of Trish's Devil Trigger mechanics.
You could title it "Lightning Rod", "Thunderbolt", or my favorite "Lichtenberg".
EDIT: Wrongly wrote "Inertia" among the DT Evolutions, bugged me too much, to leave it there.
@solracstormhunter3023 yeah I've seen the theory of how different DT mechanics can be ways in the lore of Dante learning his way around the Devil Trigger I found that to pretty damn cool I think inertia should be put back in as an option you can turn on and off in a slider like the ones in the new Spider-Man games
Funny that you mention Symphony of the Night, because the 2nd half of the game reminds me of the Upside Down Castle; just the same game again, but in reverse. So it’s tedious to do with Dante - even more with Vergil and Trish. So while I really do like this game, backtracking back to reclaim the Yamato fills me with dread more than motivation.
Backtracking in DMC4 how they did not only takes away motivation and fills one with dread it's enough to fill one's light soul with darkness

What i love about about DMC4 is it sound design, they're giving you so much impact (no pun intended), like you can really feel it when you use a heavy attack like Stinger and the climax move of Dance Macabre and ofc real impact... also when i use summon swords they sounds intense yet tender, is such an eargasm
Yup DMC4 had some really good sound design some hits just hit hard in that game

the only thing i miss from dmc4 are the body physics if you catch my drift but after so many hours into dmc5
going back to 4 is a little tough considerign how hard it is to control dante in there with the weapons and styles
I know exactly what you mean my guy when you mention the body physics my dude I miss these too DMC 4 has a bit too many rough patches if I'm being honest with the mission and enemy design but the enhanced tech can turn the game around
Excellent video as always buddy. 4 was actually my entry point into the whole series before jumping into the hd collection in 2012.

I swear dmc4s art design is so slept on. Its next to dmc3 in terms of art style. And if im being honest, many of dmc4s settings feel coherent and stablized compared to the crazyness of dmc3s teminergu sometimes.
If you think about it 4 and 3 do kind of have a shared art style
DMC4 is an amazing game as long as you spend 1000 hours on bloody palace
For real you gotta be willing to spend hours on bloody palace and TH-cam learning advanced tech
Personally i like the level design of 4th the most. The locations are colorful and diverse, youd think they are unfit to the darker theme of the series, but imo, they generally look great. And divinity statue theme is ❤
The enviroments look grate not gonna lie the problem I have is with some of the gimmicks that can get annoying at times but the visuals are top class 👌 the divinity statue theme is definitely on Patrick Batemens playlist
From 15:10 onwards, you say "Devil May Cry _2"_ instead of 4.
Not a big deal at all, just kinda funny how what you're saying can possibly be applied to both games.
Well about that I did record an ending stating my final thoughts on DMC4 and imported it the import error comes from importing the DMC2 one first I named both of em outro
I bought dmc4 instead of 5 because i wanted to play dmc without skipping a game and ye some enemies could have been non existent(the enemy that transforms enemies and fucks your combos) but i like it to some extent, the story was good and nero had that mini character development from edge lord to edge lord with a girlfriend, but overall i will finish the game on al difficulties if i can
The story did have some unrealized potential If DMC4 was completed it would have been a masterpiece
He Lost Mind Towards The End
Actually I recorded the real ending but premiere glitched out I imported the DMC2 outro first I called both outro a mistake on my part 😅 I imported the DMC2 outro first then I removed it got the DMC4 outro imported and put it on the timeline then boom Export Error that kept in the DMC2 one from the DMC2 video
One thing they also got right is cool alternative costumes, unlike 5
Man All What They Had To Do For Alternate Costumes in DMC5 is to use the older designs for Dante that's it
after rewatching this video, I am still supriced that you didn't mention how bad the lock on system is, also in my opinion devil may cry 4 is way easier than dmc 5
I didn't find too much issues with DMC4s lock on really. Opinion respected on DMC4 being easier than DMC5 but DMC4 becomes a much better game once you get into the deeper mechanics that make combos more stylish
@@Devil-Joe For me on dmc 4 when you need to grab on to blue light to climb up on certain mission, the lock on system could not have fucked me up anymore than dmc 5 lockon, everytime the lock on kept switching to the light below and made me grab on to them 20 times each before I could actually continue with the mission, and that alone makes me not want to come back to it (well at least if I don't count the dise and boss in mission 19)
Another disappointment, is how underused Yamato is in gameplay.
Nero only gets besides his Devil Trigger, only two extra moves with it, Dante only gets a basic combo, the short air combo and two dollar store versions of judgement cut.
You would've thought, with it being so hyped in the story, it's inclusion to the gameplay would've been deeper than that.
For real they should have given Dante and Nero actual moves with The Yamato
@@Devil-Joe Something that I've just remembered, is how their "proficiency" with Yamato is supposed to be less refined, compared to Vergil, trained with it his entire life. What would explain, why they lack so many moves of their own, but in the "Deadly Fortune" novel, Dante pulls a near perfect Judgement Cut imitation on the Hell Gate, despite it being "improvised". 😅🤨
Isn't it funny how Vergil is portrayed as this guy, who trained his entire life with the sword and refused any other weapon, besides Beowulf and yet Dante is his total equal in swordfighting, when Dante's whole stick is him choosing "flexibility" over "perfect proficiency"? ☕🤔
You would think, they would contrast each other's weaknesses by making Vergil always overwhelm Dante with his sword skills and Dante always needs to even the field, through the use of his other weapons. 🍷🧐
I'm playing the Special Edition on Series S and I've experienced some performance issues, I don't know if this is happening due to it being a backwards compatible game or something else
I'm not sure if it's a thing with the series S backwards compatibility I'm kind of a Playstation guy I'm playing it on PS5 and it's running smoothly on there didn't know about the performance issue on the series S
@@Devil-Joe It happened once in mission 3 I think, the one where you enter the castle, when you traversed one of the hallways, it only happened that one time but it was weird none the less

The fact that Dante doesn’t get a credo battle outside of bloody palace for starters
Credo would have been a solid reoccurring battle for Nero & Dante where he has a different move set to fight off the wacky woo-hoo pizza man with
1.They made Trish look good
2.Dante Nero Vergil in 1 game
3.Lucifer Cutscene
4. Credo fight
5.has the biggest roster out of DMC although not all of them are fleshed out properly
1.levels are repetitive
2.the enemies
3.lady and Trishs kits aren't that impressive
4.you fight the same bosses too much
5.the dice

Dmc 5 fells...more like like a dragon/yakuza...especially when devil trigger pops in...and reign is like 1000000 times more badass...With paradoxally clashes with dmc style because style of yakuza was clashing over the top action with grounded themes...multiplaing it by dmc madnes just dosen't have sens

Why wouldn't Dante age? He's not a demon he's a man with a demon half that gives him problems. That's the core concept of the franchise. He's still human in the end, he's mortal and will experience the life cycle of other men
