Sailing to Pokai Bay & A Mysterious Plane Crash At Sea?

  • Season 8 : Hawaiian Adventures : Episode #214
On this episode we have a change of plans as a weather update shows high winds forecasted for the coming week and we point our bow towards Oahu's westside; Pokai Bay.
During the passage I recorded a very ominous VHF call of a fisherman reporting to the Coast Guard that he had just seen a plane lose its wing and spiral down into the sea. I never found out what happened with this even after I searched the internet high and low in the following days. If you have information about this plane crash I would be interested to hear more.

Great Set of Tats your sporting, I was wondering (though its none of my business and i don’t mean to sound to forward) how much time overall do you have in the lot of them and what do you think it would cost someone to have something similar in this age of INFLATION!! I must say they are ALL done tastefully unlike some I’ve seen where the entire body is covered but I’ll bet they wish they had an eraser. Yours appear that they belong exactly where they are and they defiantly add to your appearance. Nice job Bro, not to mention You are clearly living a dream sailing to Hawaii and around the world. I really enjoyed the spots with Kimberly Wood, she’s got such a sweet Spirit about her and i can see how one would be attracted to Her as a friend. I LOVE her voice and mannerisms she’s cool. You appear to live a great live my brotha! Enjoy it for those of us who made safer choices in life and may have slight regrets. I respect You and LOVE your videos. Keep them coming. 🤟🏽

Thanks 🙏🏻 I have the good fortune of knowing some of the best tattooers in the world (Kat Von D, Tommy Montoya, Shawn Barber, etc) and a large majority of my tattoos were bartered for in trade for things I could do or make for them. But if I went by a price of what my tattoos cost for someone who walked into their shops off the street it would be astronomical.
Kimberly wood is super fun and has an incredibly interesting life that we will be getting into in future episodes 👍🏻

Maybe one was planned, the breakwater built then it all fell apart. It was a bit rolly at times. But a great sand bottom. Great memories....

I found this from November 2nd...I wonder if this was it? HONOLULU (AP) - Federal officials have recovered a cargo plane that crashed into the ocean off Hawaii. The National Transportation Safety Board announced Tuesday that all major components of the 737-200 jet, including the plane's black boxes, have been salvaged from about 400 feet (122 meters) of water off Oahu.Nov 2, 2021

I served in the US Navy from 99 to 2022. My guess is that it was a Navy Pilot practicing recovering from a free spin. They would do this all the time in Pensacola. Hopefully this is what the plane was doing and what the fisherman was witnessing.

A Tour Helo made an emergency landing south of there at Ford Island around the same time. So it could be that and maybe they were trying to get to the airport but landed short. All were okay. Not sure about any aircraft fixed wing. That was yesterday Sunday actually Nov 21st. Not sure if the tape is today.

@@SailorJames The Helo incident was yesterday so that's not it then. There was a Cessna plane that made an emergency landing on the Big Island on Friday morning on a road near Opulu airstrip. Also the other day a boat sank off Maui. All incidents all survived though the two people on the boat that sank was bad as they had to swim a mile in currents and waves to shore. It appears the daughter saved her father so that's a great outcome there.
