This band is sooooo damn good!!!!! Man, this is the most modern in Metal we got !!! Freakin' nice, don't you think? Our parents (mostly) lived in Zeppelin, Sabbath times, when they were doing the Heavy Metal, and we are now living in this time with bands making the NEW HEAVY METAL! Its so cool \,,/
They were already tight here too. Spencer’s screaming improved since then but the band sounds as good as they now to me.I was damn, this must be hard to play live lol. But I wish I could hear the audio from the house mic on this
Whoa Spencer's getting better. While he might not be the most amzing vocal artist live, he still kicks some serious ass in comparison to the shit he's taking from all of these people who don't realize that true vocal talent is furnished by improvement. Kudos, Spencer, you fucking crazy beast! P.S. Coming from an amateur drummer, Matt Halpern is a BOSS.
@mawkheaf Matt enjoys improvising live a lot more than anyone I have ever seen. You can go watch the same song live on 4 different videos, and I guarantee you won't hear the same drum track. He improvises based on accents.
@KaliumMusic true enough i see you point sir....we can probably blame this on lack of communication. from behind the drums, when starting a song it's nearly impossible to know exactly how the vocalist is approaching the next song! trussssst me. Plus Tom was tuning, but i'm sure Matt was just in the moment :)
yes, i do understand how matt is able to use a kit of that size(i am a drummer) but i just wanted say that its so awesome. because you never see that these days, and i guess since lots of there music does revolve around groove, he doesn't have to be so busy with a buncha rack toms and stuff. its just awesome. never see that in a metal band with such power like his
i cant find a single live periphery video where nothing goes wrong lol start with out the bassist, the sound guy fucks a mic, a strap fall of in every video their is always something
@Chorofonfilo you serious man? haha that all you really need! all those metal drummers with many toms and cymbals are just getting them to have more! less is more!!!
@KaliumMusic when you're not the headliner you often have to cope with a very shortened set time....they're just trying to kill the silence and keep the mood going :)
@GrizzlyKrunkScreamer maybe, but the blast beats are there on the album. Maybe he was just feeling tired or something. He's a great drummer and can change things up and still make it sound good.
They're un-comparable. 2 different styles. Both gods, no doubt. I guess, Periphery has their reasons on why he isn't in the band but, I do believe without Halpern, we wouldn't be bobbin our heads as hard as we would.
Sponce should start working out and get huge. I mean, obviously he's perfect as is, but how fucking terrifying would he be on stage with those screams if he was massive?
@medicaguitar36 His part of the first ~45 seconds is anything but required. May fill in the low end, but with 3 guitars and all that tapping, its almost possible to notice the difference in a live situation...I would imagine they just kept things going for the sake of getting as many songs in as they could.
@KaliumMusic They start while he's still speaking because everything is probably done to a click track, with all the backing track stuff they have. So they HAD to start when they did otherwise it would have knocked all their backing track/click track stuff out of time.... At a guess.
@Pablotheawesomeguy I doubt it, my buddy from the band Vicevera went to their show in Toronto last night and said they killed it. He recorded Jetpacks was a Yes 2.0 and my god, did they sound epic
@MasonBangsDrums very wrong. Bass occupies a very different space in the frequency spectrum and has an entirely different timbre. If it wasn't there it would sound bad. Not that that comes across in a youtube compressed, low sound quality youtube recording
@Chorofonfilo if you were a drummer, you'd notice the hard polyrhythms come from the cymbals and double bass. 2 toms are only needed. i was suprised at first, but realised that you only need that many drums for it.
@Chorofonfilo that's what happens when you can play drums properly and not need 15 toms shielding you from the view of the audience! Creativity truly comes out with scarce options!
@drmoshie all i'm saying is that you could get away with playing without a bassist for 15 seconds easier with three 7 strings than you could with two 6 strings. Bass is essential, i know this :P
@Chorofonfilo He isn't like every other metal drummer where it's constant double bass and fast fills. He's more about the groovy side of things. It seems to work pretty damn well for him, though.
"This next song... is our fast crazy one, IT'S CALLED ZYGLROX!"
Spencer Sotelo is a boss.
please, God, give these good men a bigger stage.
he did
Meanwhile tuning my bass, guys go ahead im nearly done.
I wonder if he tuned for the wrong song or something on accident
0:58 spencer: yo misha chill
I love Misha when he does solos live. He's like "Oh oh oh oh OOOOHHHHH Oh Oh Oh Oh OOOOOHHHHH back to spencer"
@PunKarmus you try playing that riff tight and moving around, its all slides...observation fail dude!
We evolve
they've really improved from then
They were already tight here too. Spencer’s screaming improved since then but the band sounds as good as they now to me.I was damn, this must be hard to play live lol. But I wish I could hear the audio from the house mic on this
0:57 Spencer: "Calm the fuck down Misha" lmao
Misha going apeshit crazy in this one, love it!
I find it so amazing seeing all their arms move simultaneously for the tapping parts on the guitar. absolute genius.
Zyglrox means sausage in my country XD
This is why i love Heavy Metal.
:51 to :57. Misha is feelin' it! That's awesome. I love these dude's.
who ever is controlling the lights in the backgroung my heart goes out to you
everyone who witnesses Periphery is blessed
everybody in this band is like from another dimension 😂
*A fast crazy one"
Whoa Spencer's getting better. While he might not be the most amzing vocal artist live, he still kicks some serious ass in comparison to the shit he's taking from all of these people who don't realize that true vocal talent is furnished by improvement. Kudos, Spencer, you fucking crazy beast!
P.S. Coming from an amateur drummer, Matt Halpern is a BOSS.
and now Spencer is basically god :P
@@ether2006was about to comment this but I'm two years late to finding this video, Spencer is the best Live
I will never understand how awesome it is to play these songs live.
But damn, I'd love to know the feeling.
Screams and Growls = win
Misha got no chill bro and i love it 🤣
@mawkheaf Matt enjoys improvising live a lot more than anyone I have ever seen. You can go watch the same song live on 4 different videos, and I guarantee you won't hear the same drum track. He improvises based on accents.
i love this song is the best
They are both awesome.
@big12oz yeah they all do, as some of their songs are 7 string. This song is 6 string in case you dont know lol
These guys are so fucking eccentric it's hilarious. Great music.
Fuck me, this is sooo good.
Spencer is REALLY improving with time, and Im really glad to see that!
tap tap tap tap tap i fucking love this song
FUCKING EPIC
spencer took his ear plug out in the first minute. that probably hurt, but he probably couldnt hear himself
Periphery is awesome.
Holy shit, Spencer is the get some the awesome yes.
This song shows why blast beats and Periphery are meant to be together
@filiodiputana From the videos I've seen on youtube, they're pretty damn good live. Especially Spencer who can hit those high notes really well live.
@filiodiputana Yeah I've never really heard anyone say they were bad live, I was there. It was crazy how good they were :p
@Shi7Disc0 Well said, my friend. Very well said.
Really good quality :D
yes, i do understand how matt is able to use a kit of that size(i am a drummer) but i just wanted say that its so awesome. because you never see that these days, and i guess since lots of there music does revolve around groove, he doesn't have to be so busy with a buncha rack toms and stuff. its just awesome. never see that in a metal band with such power like his
YEAH GUYS CLAP THOSE HAND!
i cant find a single live periphery video where nothing goes wrong lol start with out the bassist, the sound guy fucks a mic, a strap fall of in every video their is always something
@Chorofonfilo you serious man? haha that all you really need! all those metal drummers with many toms and cymbals are just getting them to have more! less is more!!!

Whoa.. Periphery playing with amps
Jerred Williamson its still axe fx, you can see them on the left between jake and alex
holy shit this is heavy
this band is amazing. that is all
@BoolaGroove That's so true!:D My word!:D He's incredible!
@Chorofonfilo Yep, a floor, a kick, and a snare, and a whole crapton of cymbals.
@SonataArctica6666 the guy on the left doesnt tap the opening riff, he is just playing some single notes
@yrureadinthis1 he was feeling it that night
It's our first crazy one and its called Zygrooofryghxdkfjgh
They're un-comparable. 2 different styles. Both gods, no doubt. I guess, Periphery has their reasons on why he isn't in the band but, I do believe without Halpern, we wouldn't be bobbin our heads as hard as we would.
Dude misha is having so much fun lol
@mawkheaf He definitely just goes improv in the studio, and he goes improv live as well
Nobody has more fun on stage than Misha fucking Mansoor.
Sponce should start working out and get huge. I mean, obviously he's perfect as is, but how fucking terrifying would he be on stage with those screams if he was massive?
i second that.
Fuck we need another album ASAP!!!
@carpetlint2000 agreeeee......!
@big12oz They don't play a seven string in every song. They also play in Drop C, and I'm pretty sure C# Standard on a six string.
0:55 Love the Bulb going nuts. :D
@medicaguitar36 His part of the first ~45 seconds is anything but required. May fill in the low end, but with 3 guitars and all that tapping, its almost possible to notice the difference in a live situation...I would imagine they just kept things going for the sake of getting as many songs in as they could.
i love how the bassist doesn't even bother at the beginning and just tunes :P
@KaliumMusic They start while he's still speaking because everything is probably done to a click track, with all the backing track stuff they have. So they HAD to start when they did otherwise it would have knocked all their backing track/click track stuff out of time.... At a guess.
i lol'd
@Pablotheawesomeguy I doubt it, my buddy from the band Vicevera went to their show in Toronto last night and said they killed it. He recorded Jetpacks was a Yes 2.0 and my god, did they sound epic
Fucking love that every guitarists on stage has to tap the start riff :P
3:18 XDDD bassist!
Just watch the crowd at 2:22 when that badass riff kicks in :P
@hellangelzx His name isn't bassist. It's Tom Murphy.
damn misha really went crazy
@jajajah86 hell yeah !!!!!!!!
@Chorofonfilo Dude, he can slap water and it still sounds good, search "Periphery water bongos"
:)
Shit!! How'd I miss those?! Haha
@MasonBangsDrums very wrong. Bass occupies a very different space in the frequency spectrum and has an entirely different timbre. If it wasn't there it would sound bad.
Not that that comes across in a youtube compressed, low sound quality youtube recording
@TheLoneWolf719 hahaha that's awesome. I'm not sure if that's more of a testament to the low end of their guitars, or how much they dgaf.
@Chorofonfilo if you were a drummer, you'd notice the hard polyrhythms come from the cymbals and double bass. 2 toms are only needed. i was suprised at first, but realised that you only need that many drums for it.
@madisonnozment haha it sounds like "first" but fast also makes sense :)
fast crazy one
*fast crazy one
Lol'd at fucking Misha
misha fucking kills it
@mawkheaf A blast beat deffinately doesnt make or break a song lol.
@BoolaGroove as a drummer I take offense to that. I love my options.
3 guitarists ? incredible
i laughed so hard =D
well, there was a snare stroke :P
love the music, but how the hell can i mosh to this?
@Chorofonfilo thats what happens when ur name is matt halpern and ur a fucking beast
Wow, this song would be a bitch to play live - for everyone.
@Chorofonfilo that's what happens when you can play drums properly and not need 15 toms shielding you from the view of the audience! Creativity truly comes out with scarce options!
@Khironification coming from an 8-year, advanced drummer, Matt Halpen is BOSS.
@drmoshie all i'm saying is that you could get away with playing without a bassist for 15 seconds easier with three 7 strings than you could with two 6 strings. Bass is essential, i know this :P
Before the axe fx!
There are 2 axeFX's in te left ;)
@ShittyMcPoopyBalls agreed, totally! but this guy kan do a fucking lot with such a small kit;)
@Glowsticks1000 yea,almost like a Epileptic seizure
@Chorofonfilo He isn't like every other metal drummer where it's constant double bass and fast fills. He's more about the groovy side of things. It seems to work pretty damn well for him, though.
