  • In this Pool Lesson I am going to show you a drill that teaches you precised cue ball control - and I am using my GoPro again. To complete this drill successfully, we need to talk about the cue ball and side spin on the cue ball once again.

    Do you like it more when I complete those drills in one attempt - or like in this video where I make mistakes and have to adjust? Let me know. Stay healthy & see you in the next lesson!

      Thanks for sharing your software! I was wondering if you are "painting" those. Looking forward to use it. Just do the drills as they come, we all make mistakes, that is why you can win every pool match.

      I like it when you show the mistake and how you adjust to correct the shot. Shows me the options and how a small adjustment can make a difference.

      Well its always good to show the mistakes. This makes us really feel like we're learning more. It makes making mistakes all a part of the learning curve. Mistakes also show us that, at the end of the day, everyone is human.

      Great video, I really liked this one. The shot redos were a good addition. If you could also do a side by side comparison of the miss vs made shot to really show the difference in the aim might be helpful.

    Thank you so much for this great upload! This drill exposed a lot of flaws in my cue ball control in that I didn’t realize how uncertain I was with navigating the path of the cue ball through the middle balls. Your excellent explanations took out a lot of the guesswork and I can’t wait to try this drill once I’m out of quarantine. Amazing production quality as always and hope that you’re healthy and safe!

    First of all Sharivari, I don't know how you ever lose a game if you shoot first. Secondly, I got along just fine playing pickup games just going with my gut but I had no idea what I was missing until watching your videos. I've been practicing the principles that you've demonstrated and although it takes a few more misses, I can actually predict what the cue ball is going to do now and after taking 1 step back, I'm now taking 2 steps forward. Your videos are incredible, especially the GoPro angles and cue ball aim points. Keep it up please!

    Im right there with you on the natural aiming, when learning from mistakes dont just pay attention to the fact that you missed your shot or got a bad leave, remember where you hit cue ball, where object ball hit and where cue ball landed. Because that exact same shot may come up to where those 2 balls are 2in (5cm) up table and would be the exact shot that you need. And because of that missed shot you already know what english, angle, and how hard to hit in order to get the same outcome
    Great drill, and as usual great videos videos

    This is the weakest part of my game, I have a rough idea of the cue ball path but it's around the 1.5 diamond area so I would spend most of my time, hitting those stripes. I like the fact you don't show the perfect run out, so we can see the adjustments. Thanks again for the great videos

    Excellent drill. I struggle with the six-ball version of this. So this will definitely give me plenty to work on. Especially liking the two shots that hit another ball, and the subsequent minor adjustments to make the corrections. Keep showing these type of videos. It helps us - the mere mortals - learn how those micro adjustments affect the path of the cue ball.

    Hi Sarivari, the mistakes are more beneficial to me. Also, I like to learn some of the techniques & practice shots over & over. But many times I just like to naturally go off what I feel & make the shots, usually those are really impressive shots to my opponent or others watching. I learned a lot about English from a Facebook game called 8 Ball. It improved my use of English & exploration of it.

    I actually recently came up with a drill very similar to this. Instead of the four ball in the middle being in a straight line, I had them in a diamond shape. A very good drill to practice exact positioning, as leaving the position too straight will immediately cause a lot of trouble for the next position. I gotta try Sharivari's version next.

    First of all - you are not that far away from being a solid professional. I have no doubt you could compete well in many tournaments in America already.
    Second, you are a talented video maker. I make videos and market for clients and also design graphics and hire people to do graphics. You are very talented in this area - probably more so than you think.
    You are clearly a smart guy. I know you played in a tournament in America a few months or so ago and did not do as well as you hoped. I am a bit surprised that you do not have a sponsor that helps you get into more tournaments. I know you are far from America, but you really should be playing more professional tournaments in Europe or America.

    • @Sharivari
      @Sharivari  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for your kind comment James. I am really happy to hear that my post production is also appreciated. I am trying to improve with every video. And if you compare the videos from today with those from a year ago, I can see a development.
      I would love to have a sponsor that would make it possible to travel around the world to participate in big tournaments. I have the feeling, that I am not that far away from becoming a strong player. But what I definetly lack is experience. Somehow no one is interested in sponsoring me as a player - if any "just" as a TH-camr. Maybe someday :)

    • @jamesdavis8731
      @jamesdavis8731 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Sharivari I have no doubt that if you pursue sponsorships you can get them. No doubt at all. Just be persitent.
      And I am not only talking about manufacturers or that type of thing, but individuals that might be willing to sponsor.
      Yes, you probably need more tournament experience. I watch a lot of tournament video and your game is easily good enough to compete and do well in many American tournaments.
      I am not sure how this all works but I when this virus stuff is done, or even before, I would really try to get your subscribers to help you get into another tournament in America.
      Figure out airfare, hotel expenses, the whole deal and then see if you can hit that target. I have no doubt many of us would help you get to a touranment. as I know many of us want to watch you play and do well in a tournament.

    Im fascinated with pool stroke and golf stroke. Why is the most simple stuff the hardest to see or do. I have 100 different pool strokes and golf strokes. I cannot decide ever which is best. I really think the main key is concentration. I practice feeling breathing in and out 10 minutes a day and every time my mind wanders i try to bring back just feeling breathing. U can train the concentration mind just like a muscle. Seems this meditation concentration practice has helped me alot because concentration playing like subconsciously i do so much better then thinking about it. Its bizarrre and weird to understand. I play terrible every time my wife misses visitation with my little girl. Pool and golf is such a mental game. I have tried every aiming system. Seems its just best to feel whats gonna happen and let it happen 9nstead of force it. Like the body should pull the arms around instead of arms pulling body around in golf. I am fascinated with strokes. Thx for all the vids. I soak it all up. Thumbs ☝

    I was inspired when you made a mistake and didn't start over. I always started over with the drill I was doing. It looks more interactive when you weren't rehearsed with this video. Some videos are more effectively taught if done flawless though.

  • @markonikolic1386
    @markonikolic1386 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    2, 3 and 4 ball were pretty weird for me. I would've played with outside english. Now I see that inside english is probably a better idea, running side allows you to hit the ball much softer and it is easier to control. Great video as always! Keep up the good work!
    Edit: I am a natural player in just about every part of the game. Aiming came naturally, banking still needs a lot of practice but is getting there. I am having troubles with side spin though, probably because I haven used any for a long time after getting into pool so I guess that I didn't have time to develop a feel for it. Also, I developed most of my feel for aiming when I was very young (8-9 years old) from playing with my dad, that can't be said for other parts of the game since I took a long break after that.

    Great video :) Regarding aiming systems, Tor Lowry said, and I 100% agree with him, that aiming systems are just a helpful tool to speed up the process of learning automatic aiming. Any aiming system you use is there just so that you miss the certain shot 1000 times and not 1500 times before you figure out exactly how to shoot it succesfully and you brain and you muscles remember this for life. But regarding banking and especially kicking, I believe some systems can help you to visualize the shot easier. Basic math (isosceles triangles FTW) and a little bit of table inspection before the match (finding out if it plays long or short and how forgiving pockets are with long rail banks) can help you alot if you end up having to shoot some crazy shot :)

    I thought you made an EXCELLENT point about resetting the shot you missed in any particular drill rather than starting over; because that was the shot you missed. Additionally I LOVE the fact that you show not only the shots you missed but the reason you missed them; that’s absolutely critical to learning. I have seen hundreds of videos where people set up really difficult drills and then execute them perfectly; in all honesty I don’t learn much from them. How many times have you seen a person who is practicing; miss the same shot over and over again and not have a clue as to why it’s happening. Finally I notice your bridge is rock solid especially on the shots that require distance; I’m sure it’s something that you have perfected over hours and hours of practice. At some point you might want to remind your viewers of the importance of being still and smooth with your stroke. Love the perspective of the shots and the additional cue ball so you can see exactly where to hit the cue. I watch all your videos I think from content and production they are some of the best being made. THANK YOU so much for doing this during the C19 crisis. It’s hard being on lock down and I probably miss pool more then anything else. Stay safe and please keep these videos coming.

    I agree that you should play naturally and i noticed that when i do my game levels up. we tend to overthink stuff which creates problems that aren't there especially in tournaments. and answering your question, i prefer when you make mistakes and try to adjust because it shows that even professionals do miss the positional side of the shot and that this game requires feeling to every shot and its not magic.

    Another great video. I am 68 and have shot pool since I was 14. I've never done any drills, just spent a lot of time on the table. I am right handed and lost my right eye when I was two. I really don't know how I learned to compensate for the off set, but I have become a A-B player and have won a few tournaments. You are absolutely right about developing natural ability. Some folks are gifted and others really have to work at it. A love for the game is a huge part of it. I always enjoyed playing opponents who are better than me and that is where I have learned the most. I have certainly learned from your videos and your wonderful teaching style. Keep up the good videos. How about some videos playing an opponent with break downs of your's and the opponents shots? I do appreciate you showing your mistakes as well. What is your country of origin? I've been trying to figure your accent out.

    Definitely prefer you leave in the misses and show how you cope with them. I'm more of a calculating player right now but I think you need to be just that before you can become a natural player. You could say I'm transitioning :)

    Sharivari have you thought about getting a chinese 8 ball cue made for yourself at all? 11.5mm or 11.7mm would make your cueing and spin generation much much better and its a more snooker centric based cue as well best of both worlds.

    I consider myself more of a natural player, the more I shoot the more I understand how the cue ball is going to react. I'm starting to get better at cue ball position but not nearly as good as you. I think the thing that will help me is to start picking points where I want my cue ball to land rather than just general areas. I never noticed until this video that you're sponsored by Lucasi Hybrids. I play with a LH as well, the LHT88. Which cue do you use? Also I really liked how you explained how you correct your mistakes.

    Love how when you are determining which gap to go through, you show a picture of the english necessary to go through each gap. This is super helpful to visualize every possible shot. Great video!
    Question- Is this drill specifically to train inside english? It seems as if every shot is requiring inside. Is this drill possible using outside english?
    Thanks!

      Thank you. No, it's not aimed for inside english. It was because I didn't get the desired position and almost straight shots all the time. That's why I had to go the path with inside english.

    I like it so much, im going to use this video for my práctico, but I have a cuestion. Why did you cue 10 ball before 9?

    • @Sharivari
      @Sharivari  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Awesome! I am sure it will help. I played the 10 ball before the 9, because the last four balls can be played in a random order.

    Great video. One of many.
    I have your pooltable program. It's really nice, however I have some questions and I have looked at the ? helpfile
    1. When you get the table set up the way you want how do I save it and what file format are my options?
    2. How can I save the program to my computer? Is it an HTML or is it an .exe file. I want to be able to use it on my computer.
    3. Can I print the table I make? Can I save it to .pdf format or something I can print from.
    4. What are the different color tabs at the bottom and how to I use them. I tried but cannot make them do anything.
    Thanks ahead of time.
    Greg Saiter.

      1. You don't save it as a file. You press the save icon, then the page reloads and you have a unique link in the browser that you can use to share it. So just save the link.
      2. It's an Web Application, that can only be used online with your browser.
      3. You can't print yet - but this is one thing I want to implement.
      4. The color changes the color of the lines, arrows, rectangles and circles you draw on the table.

    Youre not supposed to do them in order? Like you shot the 10 before the 9, etc

    I play what I feel, but some long bank shots are easier to image with a line so some system involved. On the other hand I cannot cope with the adrenaline rush, when I am at the table. It is just like: OMG OMG I know so much about the game, but I get excited by shooting the balls in and then I miss an easy shot...
