Sometimes you stumble on an older video that exactly addresses your problem... I've been focusing on my serve this summer trying to fix some long ingrained habits limiting the pace of my serve. I recently realized I wasn't bending my arm enough in the trophy pose through trial and error (and a little video recording), then I find this video which exactly addresses the issue. Thank you Kevin!
I had like all these pieces from other people’s videos and so many problems like these. U explained it fully with so many of my issues too. It’s the mona lisa of serve videos
We are obligated to spread this fantastic lesson to the whole world. Everyone should watch this. I can’t thank you enough for this valuable lesson. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
So dang helpful. Definitely need these reminders so I can keep my serve going properly during the match.. the drop is and my hips opening early becomes the issue trying to go too fast.
Great insight, I'm thinking of the racquet drop as "wrist lag". It's interesting how these principles carry across the stokes, Similar to the forehand when the butt cap points at the ball during the lag position and the torso complements the movement or stroke.
Sublime explanation. Im an awesome server, but i was just searching for a vid on how to improve some more and this is right on point. And from experience, i will add that nothing becomes more important than that elbow motion going up, and consecuently you sorta tilt to the side to give way to the power of your shoulder muscles and back muscles to power through the ball correctly. Now mind you the entire motion has to be seamless and it all works together, but many do everything else but keep the shoulders squared instead of making the rise in the elbow to tilt the shoulders for that proper power. Great vid coach.
I think I get it. Pull your hip around as racquet begins to drop. But not sure why it's called " *catching* the drop". Is it because, by pulling your hip around, you are preventing the racket from hitting your back? 🤔
I think catch is probably the “best” word we have for it. It’s really about ensuring your swing has good timing and smootheness, and doesnt stop and start awkwardly with the racket down. The racket speed should go slow, medium, fast. Not slow, medium, slow, fast
it's a bit confusing that you keep saying at least 90 degrees angle but you keep showing an angle that is less than 90 degrees great video otherwise!!!
He is showing at 2:15 what angle he is talking about exactly and where the 0 degrees would be then. 0 degrees for this angle is when the forearm is parallel to the bicep (elbow joint completely closed off) He keeps saying at least 90 degrees but I think he means less than 90 degrees great video otherwise!!!!
@@tyoma643 no. He said too many people have their arm too extended. It needs to be at least 90 degree angle and can even be more as if you are doing bicep pump.

Thanks coach Kevin! One of the best serve checkpoint videos ive seen. Really great stuff!
this is very valuable information!!! I can't wait to use this info. This is exactly what I need to work on myself.
Thanks Kevin. Your ability to describe/teach the many technical (and challenging) parts of playing this great game is unmatched.
Awesome explanation

Exactly the video I needed, now I need help with racket on edge and pronation and ball toss and timing

Thank you. I had issue dropping my arm to generate power. Your video helped me fix my problem.

Excelente explicación del servicio... Muchas gracias...
Thanks for watching!
Great explanation, you might have solved my problem
Thanks for your video. Clear and logical. Can’t wait to try that out on court.
This made SO MUCH sense, exactly what is happening to me.
Great lesson! Your point about leading with the elbow is key. I found that pointing my chest up positions the shoulder joint for more power.
thks kev catching the drop gave so much pop
I will try sir thanks for the lesson
Kevin, what can I say?! But you’re the best… thanks for this video , it totally improved my serve!

Top coach ❤⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great tips. I use these in First Person Tennis VR with a racket adapter but not yet in real life lol.
Tell me more about vr tennis please
Fantastic!!!
Hi, Kevin. Thanks enormously for your work, best on yt.
What speed do you get on your serve?
Good question. I'll have to get a speed gun for future videos. thanks
Hi Kevin, I have decent 1st serve but crappy 2nd serve. I end up double fault too often. Please help me!
Hey Sach, this video might help you. th-cam.com/video/dGvDVDBI35Q/w-d-xo.html

It depends on where your 0 degree is at

@ArtyomEmelyanenko Angle can be less that 90 degrees. We tend to do over 90 degrees. 🤗🎾
Sorry, that wasn't clear. Bourne Jason is correct in saying 90 Degrees of less. Thanks
