The crowd made the match just as much as the wrestlers did. And credit to Cena for leaning into it.
The crowd’s reaction was the only reason that match is remembered

@MTK That match was an instant classic. I was there at that very event. The hostile environment enhanced it and made it a hell of a time. It was a legendary match all around and for you to say that, I doubt you even watched it.
The one night Cena was the heel again, he even acted heelish in the ring with some very aggressive maneuvers in the match
Yeah I remember thinking Cena turned heel after dropping the referee but then back to the same old super cena crap the next night on RAW when he took out like half of the ECW roster

Even though I was behind RVD and ECW that night, I was impressed by Cena just accepting it and feeding the crowd with more. True professional.
Ppl don’t compare it enough but Cena and rvd was the second version of the rock vs hogan..Cena actually embrace the crowd reaction and became a heel in the match
It always looks like the first dude wanted to keep the shirt but the crowd pressure got the best

I hated Cena he was the reason I stopped watching wrestling but that One Night Stand will forever be one of the best nights ever! RVD was the real people’s champ.
