I used a blend of seeds for a cover crop that included turnips. There were so many that I harvested some to eat too. Great two-for-one. They’re so good when roasted at a high heat.
Im in zone H2 in Norway (7b): In February, I will sow sweet peppers (orange, red, purple), Strawberries (regina, rugen, and a white verity), eggplant (patio), and basil.
I have peas, beets, turnips, radishes, carrots, garlic in raised beds. Hoping to start peppers, eggplants, tomatoes seedlings in Feb, along with opo squash, tindora, ridge gourd, bitter gourd! Marigolds seedlings. Amazing videos Epic team!
I’m having fun growing pak choy, lettuces, garlic greens, potatoes, pea shoots and micro greens under lights in the coldest part of winter. Plus fresh greens 🥬
Just checked my last frost date. Got 16 weeks! Ill be starting all my petunias and snapdragons this weekend for sure. Gonna dig out my seed storage box and plan out the rest! Im in southeastern Minnesota so i start indoors and early!
Meg, girl, you're great, but don't lie to these people that turnips are like potatoes LOL. I love potatoes but just can't stand turnips. I've tried so many times and I just can't don't enjoy them!
Technically in 7B - Middle Tennessee - but the zone is a bit of a misnomer as we can see highs/lows/waves that have nothing to do with the rest of the ares in that zone category. We're starting celery, geraniums & MORE herbs indoors in the next two weeks. We're probably going to set out some of our alliums - leeks, mainly - to start hardening off in the next 14 days. Temp wise - we're going to see low 70's for highs as well as 32 or below in the next 7 days. We've already had forsythia trying to bloom before we hit the last 4 degree low less than 10 days ago. It's always a gamble here. I'd love to follow someone in this local area.
What I did with Peas was take some left-over cardboard and make it into a divider for enough room for the peas. When they are ready pull up the cardboard and transplant. It is really easy and don't disturb any roots.
Unfortunately with Roselle it doesn’t matter when you start it. The plant is triggered to flower only once the day time is shortened. If you are in a climate that actually get cold in the early fall it probably won’t work out. But possibly could work if you put it in a heated green house once it gets cold.
Yeah, I'm zone 9a and planted it late spring last year. It grows really fast, but never fruits before late November here. I've heard there's a Jamaican variety that fruits twice a year, but that might only work in south florida and the keys even if you can get it.
Just wanted to say HELLO may best friend gifted me 17 packets of your seeds. I wasn't aware you had your own seeds to my surprise I seen some of your videos before, so exited to start growing vegetables again. Thank you💚
If you want flavor, the best _Capsicum baccatum_ variety in my opinion is the Aji Sugar Rush. The Aji Lemon Drop is decent, but the Aji Sugar Rush produces larger, sweeter, and far more numerous pods. The pods make for great poppers if you've ever made those out of jalapeños, and they can go in just about any recipe you like. I use them to top my homemade pizza.
I call 🧢 on Meg. Turnips are good on their own but they do not taste like a potato. Also did you pronounce ‘scarce’ differently in purpose like chamomile? I’m going to start some peppers and tomatoes later in February. I winter sowed my garlic and onions in the fall.
@@meggrowsplants My boyfriend pronounces it the same way. He actually just said it this afternoon, so I heard you say it and thought it was a funny coincidence. 😂 I'm sorry for all the turnip hate! I respect your crusade! ;)
Lol, I just did my seed inventory and was like, what needs cold stratification that could just get sprinkled on top of the frozen soil. I might start the onion seeds that I apparently bought before breaking my foot last spring. 😂
I guess things grow different in Florida than where I garden (Louisiana and Alaska), because i find turnips, especially the purple tops taste nothing like a potato.
We’re having a false spring in south central Oklahoma. YALL THIS AINT FAIR! Epic gardening is getting me all excited to start gardening and growing! 🤣 SPRING CAN YOU COME ANY SLOWER?!?! Hurrrryyyyy uppppp🤣
I tried my hand at hollyhocks last year and they did great! My advice to northern gardens, start your hollyhocks in egg cartons, it makes moving them around easier and you can tear off one "cell" at a time to transplant without disturbing the roots. 🌺😁
How far before last frost did you start them and when did you plant out? I would love to start hollyhocks but putting seeds on top of the ground seems sooo scary because we have lots of birds. Lol
What're you looking forward to planting this month?
Peas. Again. I tried earlier in 10a and had poor germination. Maybe this time?
Luffa! I grew it 2 years ago, but it didn't do the best. last year, it didn't germinate. This year is gonna be my year (it better be...) 😩
Some herbs! I'm almost out of dried parsley from my garden from a couple of years ago.

The idea inside Kevin and Jacques mind that they should make a royal purple / violet colored 6-cell seed starter tray 😏

What's the classification system called for the H2 / 7b ?
@francookie9353 It’s H2 according to the Norwegian hardiness zone system, which is equivalent to zone 7b according to the US system!
Relieved Meg’s winter garden looks like mine in the same zone😅 hope my summer garden will look as nice as hers too!
Yes, it’s still cold here! Your summer garden will be amazing ❤
I'm hoping the southeast doesn't get hit with another snow storm so I can get started in the garden. I'm so stoked for spring gardening 😌

With three feet of snow on the ground in northern Michigan I won’t be planting anything anytime soon😢
Peas are my favorite thing to grow; they’re the easiest to grow in Georgia!
fully expected Kev to defend them after Meg "Chitting" on his potatoes :D
Can confirm Lemon Drop peppers make amazing hot sauce

Gosh darn it! I thought I was done buying seeds, but had to grab those Wando peas and some turnips. You guys are going to bankrupt me! lol
I love this channel it is helping me in my Urban garden. I am starting over and I am excited!
Man i SO can not wait to get at it! Got my onion, carrot, radish, beet, and kale seeds ready to go for the upcoming month. 👀

Lets goo lets start the Year Strong
I live in 7b. I started onions and cabbage. That’s all I’m doing until late Feb
So excited! Was just looking at my seed collection and making a list of which ones to start in Feb!

I recently heard there is a day length neutral variety of Roselle!
Ty for this vid, I requested it last time. 🙂✨
Amazing video thank you guys so much
Germinating pepper seeds indoors. Last year was prob slow in production due to my late start.

I’m surprised about the peas, in zone H2 i Norway (7b), on seeds packets it says to sow peas in May!
Gotta love peas! 👊🏻🌻👊🏻

Right, my peas just froze in my greenhouse!
Oh good. I'm confused and need to plant 🌵🌵😅

9:30 - 9:45 these grew in my backyard out if no where. I was guessing birds
I'm shocked. I'm started the same onions Jacques choose 👏🌰 the carbon tomato is very good. Great advice using the sandpaper Jacques.
Chat are we team turnips or team potatoes?

Potatos
See my comment above LOL
You know Potato Daddy's answer...
Potatoes ofc
February will be dedicated to bush beans, in my garden. I plan to get a nice crop in, before it’s time for warm season plants.
I’m going to start tomato and jalapeños and potatoes wish me luck
I’m planting some potatoes on February 1st. Fresh fries from garden to table! Let’s grow! Also frying with tallow. No more seed oils for me.
I started some taters last week, and I’m preparing to do another round after Valentine’s Day 🥔
@ nice.
@@ThirdCoastGardening you are lucky!! It’s winter in Wisconsin and it’s isn’t spring yet

Peppers, tomatoes, onions, Malabar spinach, potatoes, just to name a few I’m putting in right now. Howdy neighbor 🌵

I sowed my canna lily seeds the other day and they’ve already started to germinate, yes I did scarify them
What can people who live in Zone 5 plant ?
We have just had -5°F temperatures.
