Liked and subscribed. I was thinking about trying Kindle Vella but nobody is really talking about it so thank you so much for this video! I did want to say that I could barely hear you so there might be something wrong with your audio settings (not trying to be critical, just letting you know!). I really appreciate the time and effort it took to not only write and launch your Vella story but also to do this video! Thanks so much! I'm absolutely going to check out Blind Fate. Such a great concept for a story!
@@apocalypso3427 Thank you so much. And thanks for letting me know about the mic. I’m new to this and not great with technology. I probably didn’t have the right audio settings. I’m going to be doing a part two to this video because I just found out that Kindle Vella has changed quite a bit in the last year or so. For example, instead of the first three episodes being free, I think the first ten are free now.
@@tmblake Yes! I have been doing some research into it and saw they made some big changes in the past couple of months. But that's good since it'll give you another video to do on it :D You know that you can absolutely turn your Vella book into a novel on KDP, right? While also keeping it on Vella. If you dig into the Vella FAQs it will tell you all about how to do that and I think they even have some tips and stuff for things like getting more engagement on your Vella projects. Thanks for sharing your journey again! I've been fighting with imposter syndrome for the past 38 years and even though I've practiced and studied writing daily that whole time, I still haven't been brave enough to put my work out there. I'm currently finishing a novel with the intent to publish, but I really want to play around with Vella for another idea afterwards :D Your video helped!
I’m torn...I have over 100 high concept novel ideas. My manager wants me to turn those into screenplays. If I write novellas, I can turn them out fast, and they’re more adapted to screenplay development. Novels, would take 2 to 3 times as long. Your thoughts?
Hi, thanks for the comment. So, your manager wants you to turn your ideas into novels (or novellas) and then turn the novels into screenplays? Writing novellas might take less time because there are fewer words to write, but can you tell the entire story in 10,000 to 40,000 words? I don't know a lot about screenwriting. I didn't realize that novellas are more adaptable to screenplay development. That's interesting. Is it because of the shorter length?
@@tmblake Yes and yes. I would make them around 40-50k words. Each of my chapters runs about 1-2 pages, about the length of each screenplay scene, so, adaptation is pretty fast and easy. The thing with novels, is if one takes off, it takes off. With novellas, it doesn’t seem to be as such. BUT w novellas I can get more of my ideas to market and into screenplay format faster and maybe one of the screenplays might take the lead. Ugh. All of these first world dilemmas, ya know??? 😂
