Love how all the other nominees look like they are thinking, PLEASE, we don't stand a chance against Pacino. Saw him on Broadway three years ago on THE CHINA DOLL and he was just AMAZING ...!
in his generation he, jack nicholson and robert de niro are the top 3 no question. and his michael corleone is one of the greatest screen performances in modern times.
Wonderful speech. I am sure he did his best trying to remember so many people to recognize in front of million of imp. people. I would freeze up myself. Happy to had seen this because of U-Tube. He really puts himself out there to be the best he can. I always have been drawn to watch all Al Pacino's movies , he is in. He is very interesting as an great actor & a very good looking man :) ~~~~Sincerely Ava
I felt like maybe Al Pacino should have been placed in Supporting Actor since the three main protagonists in the show were Justin, Ben, and Patrick. But then again, Pacino is a acting legend and deserves to awards he gets.
I'm happy that Pacino won, he deserved it of course. Although I will say he didn't really have the lead role; Justin Kirk, who was nominated in the supporting category instead, had the lead role. Then again, it's not the only time an actor has won an certain award depending on screen time; it just means they played a STRONG supporting character. It's not about how many scenes you're in, it's what you're able to do in your scenes. Pacino is still a great actor, and deserved the standing ovation.
I agree since technically the three leads are Justin, Ben, and Patrick since the whole play revolves around them. Pachino should have been supporting. Which is ironic, since Pachino was placed in supporting at the Oscars in The Godfather while Brando was placed in Lead, and we all know who was the main protagonist in that movie!
@@davy209 I feel like Pacino can be considered lead as well, but yeah its fucking ridiculous for him to be lead if those 3 arent as well. Makes no sense how they got away with this.
it is stupid to call one actor the greatest actor we are lucky that there are so many great actors to enjoy. I do know al pacino is respected and loved by other actors for his great talent and humility.
I finally got around to watching Angels, after 20 years. Pacino was great. Terrifying, but great. Meryl was astounding, along with the then-young actors playing the boys.
i agree... Especially in Godfather part 2... When people ask me a list of the greatest performances of an actor in a film... i always include his performance in godfather part 2.. PURE ACTING... his supporting performance in Godfather was also great... i remember watching that movie for the first time, i keep finding his face because i don't recognize him in any of the characters, then when the michael character starts growing, i said, wow, where did that cme from?
Yes Tony does write great parts, and that speech about 'Clout' that Pacino does so well in Angels in America is excellent, of course a good speech requires a good actor to really make it work
What´s astronomic about that. Ever heard of "Righteous Kill" I wish I hadn´t. Ever heard of "Heat", one of the best american films ever made. Thank you Al.
Bill Hader is wrong; the Pacino speech he imitates is not from this ceremony. Does anyone know which actual ceremony is Bill Hader’s Pacino speech from? Here’s the Bill Hader clip: th-cam.com/video/kjI-JaRWG7s/w-d-xo.html
I'd say this is the ceremony he was referring to. I think Hader was just trying to mimick Pacino's mannerisms, not his speech. The dialouge Hader used was just made up for comedy. Pacino is basically just looking into he periphery as Hader says, and I think Hader matched that on the show.
Dan Osanu , 88 Minutes & Righteous Kill were just done for the money, a Part like this, having the opportunity to play Roy Cohen in Angels in America was done for the script which was beyond excellent, almost Shakespearean in which I loves the most 😉
@TheSohail1 agree Pacino is a fuckin great actor, but some other actors are great as him, Nicholson, Depardieu, Brando, Chaplin, Day-Lewis, De niro, Pitt (Yes Pitt is great actor :) ) ...
@TheSohail1 ugh brando and pacino brando and pacino brando and pacino! LOL they dont go together like peanut butter and jelly! everyone always puts them together, but they are so different!
